  1. To be clear, you believe an agent, and think a front office is making baseball decisions based on fan reaction?
  2. Interestingly, some of the baseball people I follow on Twitter are basically loling the Sox..... So maybe I'm not quite right
  3. The vitriol at a team that got the medical details, and then decided they didn't like the idea as much, is amazing to me. They did nothing wrong at all.
  4. I really don't think the new FO, run by an ex-Ray, is making baseball decisions based on fan reactions. Seriously.
  5. And he's really not that young.......So, ya, if they want POWER on the bench, he's an obvious choice.
  6. No, it can't be simple. Everyone is out to get "us" and screw "us" over.
  7. It's not on the red Sox. They aren't wrong for doing this. If they don't like his medicals, the deal needs changing or cancelling. That's how sports deals work. I think this reinforces what some of us thought about Gaterol and his long term value.....
  8. The Ryu ship sailed, so I don't get this......they couldn't get Ryu, apparently.....
  9. What ace is out there right now? they still have plenty of prospects to deal at the deadline, if there is a great pitcher out there. Plenty.
  10. Certainly unexpected. Four years of a guy that has been good or better in the majors for six years of a guy that hasn't really pitched in the majors. It seems to make sense. As chief said, if you won't pay in free agency, this is the price you pay.
  11. Motley Fool loves ISRG.
  12. If I watch it, I'll want to subscribe....
  13. Wish I had cash. Would have made four percent yesterday.....
  14. I agree......and I share your disappointment, but mine is mild.
  15. I've decided over the years to just assume movies and books are different, and to not judge if they are close to each other in canon. I enjoy more things than I used to, because I don't put my expectations on them. To be clear, this is about judging things like this, not from one movie to another in a series. That said, I'd have liked more analysis also. But that's not the show, so I'll just enjoy it for what it is. Not saying my approach is right or not, it's just how I've changed over the years.
  16. Finished season 2 of Jack Ryan. Generally entertaining tv, if a bit more rambo than the early novels were......which isn't a surprise.
  17. why is anyone trading for a pitcher that no one thinks will be impact? That part of this argument never makes sense to me....
  18. 35-50% is a nearly 50% increase in odds....that would be massive. Massive.
  19. It has pretty much been the philosophy of this FO not to draft pitching early.......
  20. I think a couple AAA minor league deals for veterans will come......and nothing else. I know a lot of people think they can just trade for pitchers at the deadline, but they passed on that opportunity last deadline. And, not many great starters are actually dealt every deadline. 2-4 at most. I'm not sure it is a slam dunk they'll do so if they need to. Right now they are set up for 90-94 wins, I'd think. 95 is the tough spot for the O/U for me. If Buxton is healthy and the young pitchers don't implode, I like the over. If Berrios or Odo gets hurt, or if the young guys aren't good, I like the under....... The starting pitching is high variance right now....
