  1. That's not what your post said........and, I acknowledged that it might be good. But it is not true that only the best players are off the board. As for who you want.....you literally only wanted a team that has 2.25 open starting pitching spots to sign one of three starting pitchers? That seems like a bad plan to me. I don't really care about the reaction of fans, frankly. The Twins should, but I don't.
  2. Of Fangraphs top 23 starting pitchers, 18 are off the board. So, yes, they have missed on others..... Now, whether that is good or bad I don't know, but it isn't true only the undoable are gone.
  3. I think there is a limit to the number of pitchers also....so, ya, no.
  4. Meh, I mean, no harm, but I hope that is more hope than plan. He's shown nothing lately.
  5. My prediction, for what it is worth, is that Thorpe and Gaterol are relievers long term. Dobnak will go back and forth to AAA for a few years as a starter.
  6. The Mets won 86 games in the best division in baseball....and some are predicting they will be better this year. How are they poorly run? I mean, they might be.....but results aren't indicating that. Enlow will be lucky to sniff the majors. You'd have to include one of the top SP prospects in this deal.
  7. Correct, the current FO has picked position players in round one. But, the previous FO missed on Stewart, Gordon, and Jay. Probably on Gordon, there is still hope on him at least.
  8. Nearly all of those teams were better set up going into the off season. And, I'm interested in this team getting better. And to pick a nit, the Nationals brought back Strasburg....on a huge free agent deal. There is limited supply of the type of player this team needs, which shrinks nearly daily. I am still predicting Ryu is here, but I am beginning to question myself....
  9. Well, they haven't used a first round pick on a pitcher yet..... Ace or no ace. There aren't many very good pitchers on bad teams to trade for. So I'm at a loss for how to fix it this year, given they did not acquire starters in previous years in enough numbers. Missing out on three straight top ten picks is a killer.
  10. That's not a fair trade for the Mets at all.
  11. https://www.fangraphs.com/roster-resource/depth-charts/twins This year they should add, I'm guessing, 7 players from the minors will debut that were acquired in trade. That changes if they sign a 1B and another SP......
  12. Uh, wut? Nelson Cruz has fWAR.......fWAR is also not focused on fielding. And no one has been able to come up with a good way to measure managers, despite years of effort.
  13. Agreed. This was obviously going to be a problem in 19 and beyond......it needs to be fixed. Perhaps they will manage to be right about enough of the players they have added, but that is unlikely to help in 20, and barely likely to be enough in 21. Not impossible, but not likely that they can rely only on internal options or cheap signings. I'm still hopeful they sign Ryu and/or make a trade, but as I've said for a year, there just aren't many currently good MLB starting pitchers available.....because most of the good pitchers are on playoff contenders.
  14. so, national writers should say what, about swings? Nothing? Other than that, I have no issue with your post/opinion. It's all a matter of projection at this point.
  15. Pretty sure if the Twins trade for one of the best players in the game, and extend him....that that poster would find it refreshing.
  16. I'm not sure what you want me to do. I have read up on him over and over.....and some writers aren't sure he can stick at short....heck, FG said they listed him at CF because IF he fails at SS, he'll be a good/great CF. But, like I said, I have no idea what you want from me at all........ I was responding to statements about them being "sure" and "black and white", when none of them are.....
  17. Humorously....they all still rate him as one of the 10-20 best prospects in baseball, and the Twins' best prospect....and yet people seem genuinely angry that they suggest he a: might not stick at SS, and b: isn't the best hitter he can be right now and he needs to make an adjustment in his approach........
  18. Two were scouts for teams. They also talk to scouts and coaches to do the analysis. Also, if you actually read their write-ups, there is nothing black or white about what Fangraphs says about Lewis. I have no idea what you are arguing.
  19. Incomplete. That said..... I don't think you can judge the trade as Ynoa for.... Those are two different trades, unless this was the plan all along. Getting anything useful for Garcia at that point is a good trade. The fact you may have paid too much for Garcia is separate. Unless, as I said, this was the plan all along.
  20. Fifteen of Fangraphs top twenty free agent starting pitchers are signed, plus a few others. Two were brought back to Minnesota. They have not acquired any of the other top twenty.... Is anyone excited about the remaining guys at this point?
