  1. Well, Castro is not on the roster for one thing..... And astudillo is not really a catcher
  2. I can't believe I'm typing this.... But if you sign moose and Cron.... Would you trade Sano for a stud pitcher, or two close pitchers? Or a good pitcher and a minor league player? Sano might cost more than Moose in two years.....
  3. I'm not sure it matters a lot.... But if keeping him somehow reduces their spending on pitching, then don't keep him. He's a fine player, and keeping him increases the floor at first for the year. But I don't think he's a difference maker, so if they roll the dice on youth, I'm ok with that. In a make believe world,I want an upgrade at third, and Sano too first, but I don't see that money being available.
  4. Isn't Kendrick a plus defender at first, who could play third occasionally? Who hit better, him or Cron? Which will cost more? Depending on how you answer those questions, I'd consider changing your answer...
  5. I really think some people don't understand the purpose of this post.....
  6. was sort of quoting the person there.....so maybe i messed it up. Been waaaaaaay too much screen time lately as I work on my first PDF I hope to sell...
  7. Again, it's the pattern, not the specifics. Every time there is a big trade, the TWins somehow don't match up. Every time.
  8. Better than Wheeler, and not from a non-playoff team, where he wasn't the team's best pitcher. Like whom?
  9. By this logic, you basically sign no one?
  10. Well written. I enjoyed this one a lot.
  11. Like I said on Nick's pro FO article, we just don't have enough evidence yet.
  12. I agree, I was more thinking Corbin's AAV. I'm guessing 5 years around 110 million or so.
  13. Sean 2:01 with jhoan duran added to the 40 man so you think he gets a crack in the majors in 2020? Keith Law 2:01 Yes, in some role.
  14. Like whom? the players that are available are the players that are available. Next year's SP market looks not so good, btw....
  15. The Sloth 1:43 Any surprises among those left exposed to the Rule 5 Draft? Keith Law 1:43 No, not really. The rule 5 draft is a huge waste of time.
  16. What did Corbin get last year? Closer to that....
  17. Wow. Crazy big projection! Nice.
  18. I think that trade offer is light. Their FO is impossible to understand, though, so who know what CO would do or not,
  19. Who starts the first eight games for Pineda? I like this plan for the most part, but I really like Jeffers..... Oh well. Gotta give value to get value.
  20. I don't even know what you are arguing. I've never said build a team thru free agency, I've asked for one big signing. Not a whole bunch. I only ask every year because they don't. One. And you agree they should do that. So why are you arguing?
  21. My theory includes signing your own players to big long term deals. We are now only looking at the four best teams, then adding Oakland and Tampa in a different part of your argument? If another team could duplicate Tampa's success, they sure haven't been able to for two decades now, so it isn't that easy. Washington had the highest paid starting pitching staff, two of whom were free agents. I doubt they regret either signing. And, four years would be great, so I don't know what you are arguing.... As for LA..... They've had a pretty high payroll, and been a pretty great team. Are we only going by one year? You agree this front office should sign a guy to the exact kind of deal I want, why are you arguing? Also, Corbin produced 4.8 fwar last year.....
  22. A bad team should absolutely take Jax. They have nothing to lose, and a starting pitcher to gain.
  23. I thought I was clear. You can't argue they need flexibility and that they should not spend that when they have it. No one is saying spend like the Yankees, and not consider a budget. As for Darvish, he would have been the Twins best pitcher in the second half last year, and would be in the roster now. I'm guessing that now that he's healthy, he'll be good for a couple years. As for the specific example, we can play that game all day with examples of going cheap every year, year after year, not working out. I'm not sure how that's better.
  24. I'm sure Washington regrets Corbin.... For the right player, you have to go more than three years.
