  1. Point five is 100 percent not true, and stated in an insulting way..... People are cherry picking stats. Look at all the stats, compared to corner outfielders. It would be cool if we could discuss this politely....
  2. I think people are confusing ideas here.... The downside of Eddie is that he's getting more expensive, at a position where the minor league system is stacked. A mid market team can't afford Eddie at some point. I don't think this is that year. Also, people seem to not compare him to other corner outfielders.... He's not all that great compared to other corner players. Over the last 18 months he's been ok compared to other corner outfielders. That's just what the overall offensive numbers show. That doesn't make him bad. It doesn't mean they need to get rid of him. It means they need the minor league players to step up this year. Because eventually they won't be able to afford him and pitching.
  3. A second round pick....for the better player.
  4. Because there isn't always a similar FA......If there is, sure, but there isn't. To be clear, you don't think MN would trade their 2nd round pick this year for a good SP that was under contract?
  5. Wheeler has been better than Gray, and doesn't cost any prospects. If you won't sign Wheeler, what FA will you ever sign?
  6. They got a bit conservative there......but pulled it out!
  7. I prefer Wheeler, if I can only have one of them. But both would be good....
  8. I'd rather opportunistically get Betts.......I'm not sure Price's elbow is going to last. If the Twins think it will, go for it. But I'd be worried about that elbow....but in general, yes, opportunities like this should be taken when the team thinks it is a good idea.
  9. Rosario's critics compare his numbers to all the other corner OFers, then look at his likely cost the next two years, and say he shouldn't be extended. NO ONE is saying cut him. No one is saying he's a bad player. But if you look at his numbers, all of his numbers, he's just not all that good compared to other corner OFers, and he'll be expensive starting this year.
  10. We don't know that's true of every pitcher they might try to trade for. Heck, we don't know it's true from last year either.
  11. Have you looked at the likely salaries of the combined players under contract for this year? They easily have 50-70MM to spend. Easily.
  12. The lowest estimate I've seen for EE is over $8 million per year....which is more than Cron will likely get.
  13. How about that his offense has gotten worse each of the last two years? He's a corner OFer, that is NOT a star. That's the exact kind of player a mid market team can't afford to pay a lot of money.
  14. I admit I literally have no idea what this post has to do with Milwaukee and the fact that they have a less good farm system now that they've traded for some real MLB players. Like, I have no idea
  15. If he doesn't debut this year, he moves from elite prospect to good prospect. (assuming he's healthy all year).
  16. Of course, there is a long list of teams that never had any success lately. I'd rather show strain, than be Pittsburgh or Cincinnati, for example. As I was told over and over under the previous GM... Mid market teams can't sustain success over a super long period, because they draft later and their players get too expensive to keep. That will likely happen to Milwaukee, sure. But that's what you and others told me was the natural cycle of the game.
  17. I don't really understand the hesitancy to sign a guy who has a QO. You're giving up your second best pick.... If you could trade picks, would contenders really not deal their second pick for a good player?
  18. I guess it depends on the meaning of impact. A decent relief pitcher would make an impact for this team. A number four innings eater would. I think those can be had without trading a top 80 prospect. You can also get good players if you will take their contract, though I have no idea if any are available this year. And, good players can be acquired by trading multiple good prospects. I'm also saying for the right player, is consider dealing any prospect. But that would be a unique, player by player, decision. And, other teams have other needs.... Where they might be able to get a corner outfielder for a good prospect or three. The Twins don't need one of those. Also, I'm saying there are no absolutes, like some here insist.
  19. Chief and I are pretty clear.... We literally know what is in our brains.... Don't be afraid to trade prospects.... No fancy but,if, and or rules.....I can't speak for others, but we are literally talking about what we are talking about. If you all want to argue that some fans are saying something else, go argue with them.....
  20. That wasn't the discussion.... It was Gaterol and Dobnak we were discussing, which better not happen. I'm indifferent which one of those two gets first shot at the number five spot.... Because there will be movement. Frankly, I think Gaterol is a RP long term....
  21. I think Chalmers gets claimed...a former top pick who could be a RP for a bad team next year. I probably protect him due to having space. I protect Jax and Duran for sure. Everyone else? I'm not sure it matters....
  22. No one should be criticizing the Liam Hendriks decision. The error in Anderson was not trying him out before letting him go.... Pressley I just don't get that one.
  23. fair, but Chief is pretty clear....he's talking minor league players in general, not just top prospects......Gonsalves was never a top prospect (on some lists, on others he might have made a top 100 list).....Chief's point stands, as you yourself point out, teams should not be afraid to trade prospects that aren't ELITE.
