  1. For a free agent or three, yes. For many of them? No. Cruz is gone after this coming year, freeing up a lot of money then. There will always be movement of expensive players....
  2. Greinke cost Houston their 3, 4, and 5th rated prospects....so, maybe it would be the Twins 7-9th? We haven't seen that either..... Of course, 3-5 has more value to Houston than 7-9 for MN...because MN has more highly rated prospects right now.
  3. Twins also did not beat the price for Stroman, even though it was two not highly rated players (though both were likely under rated due to their short time in the minors so far).
  4. Look at Zac Gallen, for example.....he cost the 59th (give or take) rated prospect....a price many here were glad MN did not pay. He's a legit 3, maybe 2, with years of control left, and people would rather have a prospect (who would have 1-2 more years of playing time......).
  5. Not to mention at the start of the year, bringing in a number five starter instead of someone else. This mess is their own making.
  6. I'm not missing the point... I'm saying it isn't always that easy.... Also, I'm saying we are still waiting for them to even trade three good prospects for one player, let alone do it multiple times.... And have it work every time.
  7. But they did it. They traded multiple prospects at the deadline for Verlander, and multiple for Cole. And for Pressley. And others. The twins did not really go for it this break. Hopefully that changes now.
  8. My top four, in no order.... Kepler, Cruz, Berrios, Garver.... Though I might vote for Odorrizi with more thought
  9. Of course, Houston just graduated future star Alvarez. But I don't get the point. Isn't it easier to draft if you aren't that good, so shouldn't the twins have more top prospects? Aren't they in a position to trade for prospects going into this last year, not trade from prospects? If they didn't have a lot more that would be bad. If they emulate Houston, they will trade at least eight of those players in the next two years.... So, about the same number....
  10. He'd be my second or third acquisition.... Not the headliner.
  11. I've been on the Gray wagon for years......but he's got less and less team control left, and a longer history of not succeeding like I hope.....that said, I don't think much of CO's FO, and their ability with pitchers, so I'd target him (but then, I've wanted him in MN since the draft.....so what do I know?).....
  12. I'm not sure I understand.....no team can keep every player they have ever acquired.
  13. this thread is literally asking if the Twins will be the next houston......
  14. The Cubs win the world series, and until this year made the playoffs.... Sometimes trades work, and sometimes not. But suggesting never trading top prospects.... That seems unrealistic to me, if you want great players in return. I could be wrong, maybe they can get great players back without every dealing actual good or great prospects....
  15. Trade for good players, without dealing good prospects? That's not how it works. That's not what Houston, or the Yankees, or the red Sox, or any of the winners do it.
  16. Houston traded for expensive players, and signed at least one to an extension. They also dealt highly regarded prospects for another. This team has done neither. Until that changes, no, they aren't the next Houston. The window is open. If it doesn't change this off season....
  17. Who makes Pineda's first seven to eight starts? Do you think they'll win even a third of those?
  18. Basically, assuming they don't acquire three starters in addition to Pineda..... They will need to use Dobnak and another guy for seven to eight starts each.... Do people want the next best guy to make that many starts? It also guarantees Dobnak needs to make at least eight.... They can't skip him.
  19. I'd pay $4MM.....but I wouldn't like it. I might pay $5MM, but I don't know their budget situation.....
  20. We started Battlestar.....if the cylons have a plan, it isn't kill all the humans, since they could have already......
  21. No way I pay 6-7MM next year for mediocre 1B production.......not with needing 3 starting pitchers, a backup catcher that is Castro good or better, a RP or two.....I guess I think they can afford that if they deal Rosario.....
