  1. Remember, if they have one or two rookies starting as part of the plan, Pinedas placeholder for eight to ten starts will be the next guy. And when there is an injury, the next guy. How deep do people think the help in the minors is to start the year?
  2. He's going to miss one forth of the year. Who pitches instead? Since you want Pineda to start, it would be someone you don't want to start....A backup. How deep into the farm is that player? Will he actually be ready after his suspension, or will he need a few weeks? All he had to do was work with team doctors. No way I sign him.
  3. Bullpens, in meaningful games that aren't blowouts, are as effective as ever.... That's what the stats show across the league. Reliever stats overall look bad because there are so many blowouts and teams not even trying to field good players.
  4. 26? Good golly, he's a top fifty prospect.... What upside do you see in LaMarre?
  5. Well, LaMarre is also there and playing. And, Kirilloff is a better hitter than Wade. And, Kirilloff hit better as he got healthier. Again, play it safe, or play for upside? In a playoff year? Upside.
  6. Or you take a chance on upside. Or not, and just play guys you know are bad.
  7. I'd like a team to play for upside, and stop worrying only about downside. There is no upside in some of these players being here. This is a year where you have a chance to win it all, take that chance, rather than be afraid it might not work.
  8. We do know LaMarre isn't good, but he's here. We don't know with those two. That's the point, always choosing the least risk.
  9. They lost their best pitcher for nearly the whole season, he just came back. I mean, sure, if you for some reason only want to look at two weeks, the twins might be worse off, but that's just silly. Cron, Cave, and Adrianza can't hold a candle compared to the Yankees injured. Seriously.
  10. The Yankees and it isn't close. Who have a better record also.
  11. Been saying it all year, Jeffers will be a Twin as early as next year. Sure would have been nice if Gordon had been healthy all year.....
  12. Not to mention this talk of sustainable success comes with one pitcher under contract for next year.
  13. I think the Twins win at least one game this weekend. And then crush the tigers the rest of the way
  14. I'd guess early season Rosario is the outlier here.... He's now hitting worse than league average for the year....
  15. And the terrible options playing instead have? At least with Kirilloff there is a chance.
  16. Even if he dropped twenty points he'd still be more valuable than not playing at all... Maybe even more. That also doesn't explain the lack of pinch at bats....
  17. 12:16 Oddball Herrera: Should the Twins give Kirilloff a shot rather than hope a bunch of randoms in the OF can carry them to the division title? Flags fly forever, right? 12:17 Avatar Dan Szymborski: I would. mike sixel 1:29 Would you call up Kiriloff at this point? thanks< Keith Law 1:29 Probably not.
  18. 26 years ago. By the one GM they've had that ever really went for it. Let's hope it happens again.
  19. Very nice. I needed some good pitching to feel better about this team in the post season. It's been a tough week.... So this was nice
