I think the locals are all at the State Fair. Tonight they'll all be watching Caitlin Clark at the arena next door.

They are spending about $60M more than Oakland, so they're doing more than the bare minimum, but Oakland isn't trying to win right now.

Pallante did a great job keeping the ball off the barrel of the bat. He owned Trevor Larnach.

I blame Royce Lewis. He should have flatly said no. I normally dislike athlete interviews because they are vapid and uninteresting. When they happen during a baseball game I get irritated. It would be great if they could shut up for a while so I could watch the game.

Based on what I saw last night it's because Festa can't hit his spots when he's tired. As the game goes on he starts leaving fastballs middle-middle.

This team has all sorts of financial flexibility. It would be defendable if they had spent the money on someone else instead of just putting it in their pocket. Sonny Gray has a FIP of 3.21 and 135 innings pitched. He is having a season right in line with his last 5 seasons. The Cardinals got a bargain, especially when you consider how backloaded that contract is.

Surprised no mention of the Chevy trucks on Machinery Hill. -
I hope he finds a spot somewhere. He deserves a shot to see what he can do. Worse players than him have made it to the big leagues. I remember Casey Blake never got a real shot until he was 29 and he put together a nice career.

They need to aggressively shop Vazquez and Paddack this offseason. Some team should be willing to take on one season of each contract. Willi Castro is a much better value at his salary than Christian Vazquez or Chris Paddack.

I think the history stays with the fans. I know there are still Philadelphia fans who celebrate the Athletics. Jackie Robinson is a Brooklyn Dodger. Walter Johnson is a Washington Senator.

Exactly, that's the only option for him to get more at-bats this season. He's been out 2 months.

Be careful drawing conclusions about A-ball in August. The best players have been promoted and the new players are seeing their first action as professionals. The batters are transitioning to wood bats and many of the pitchers are having mechanics altered by the professional coaches.

Max Kepler: A Minnesota Twins Era Nearing Its End
DJL44 replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I really don't want the Twins to spend their scarce money on free agents re-signing a declining Max Kepler. I don't know if he will get a multi-year contract based on his production from this season. Maybe 1 year $8M with a team option and buyout? -
Is Emmanuel Rodriguez season over or is there a chance he plays with St. Paul in September? He would be a good choice for the AFL to get some extra reps. Not sure if he's eligible. Kalai Rosario is another who has missed a lot of time this summer.

If they were 33-36 against teams above .500 they would have the best record in the American League. Only 3 teams have winning records against > 500 - NYY, BAL and CLE.

He's not great, but have you seen the stats of the relievers on the waiver wire? Okert would not make it through waivers.
