  1. Twins are going to be able to get Yesavage, Brecht, Sloan or Caminiti if they want them.
  2. Open question to all the people on this board who have had plantar fasciitis: Does it go away in 2 days?
  3. If he's good to go during an exhibition game that doesn't matter, why wasn't he playing today when it does?
  4. Plenty of SS on the AL roster. I'm hoping his only action is waving during the introductions.
  5. Who stays at 3B with the bases loaded and ground ball to the infield? That's a force out. Everybody runs in that scenario.
  6. I hope Julien is on the team tomorrow, put Miranda on the 10 day IL retroactive to 2 days ago. They can't afford to have their only bench player an emergency catcher they don't actually want to play. I don't care that Snell is a lefty, Julien is going to help more than having Vazquez in the infield.
  7. Crazy how a team with 5 players on the 40-man who can play 3B ends up with Vazquez starting at 3B. I would have bunted at him a few more times.
  8. Sure, but he's trending up and he can contribute with Lewis and Farmer both on the injured list.
  9. If Keaschall makes any player redundant it is Austin Martin.
  10. He would need to get a LOT better at defense at 2B to resemble Pedroia. And shrink 3 inches.
  11. Brooks Lee has the glove for SS and 3B. Keaschall has "looked rough" in the infield. That gives Lee more long-term value. People seem to like Emmanuel Rodriguez' glove in the outfield as well. From Fangraphs on Rodriguez
  12. Curt Schilling is out 100% due to his lack of social skills. Threatening to kill journalists is not a good way to get votes from them. Voters don't have to elect any pitchers (or catchers) but it would be a really, really boring Baseball Hall of Fame without them. I suppose they could rename it the "Hall of Hitters".
  13. Andrew McCutchen is 90% there but it's looking doubtful he gets the remaining 10%.
  14. Carlos Santana is not going to get 5% of the vote to stay on the ballot.
  15. Greinke should be a 100% lock. What other pitcher is going to be on the ballot and have a better resume? He will be the best pitcher on the ballot by a wide margin until he's elected or until Kershaw/Verlander/Scherzer are added to the ballot. I don't see how voters would turn him down for 10 years. I would put Bryce Harper in the "90% there" category. Yelich could make it if he plays to age 40. I agree that voters are going to need to adjust expectations for pitchers. Nola, Wheeler and deGrom are in the next tier down but won't have any traditional milestones.
  16. Chris Sale should be considered 90% there. I wouldn't vote for Jansen or Kimbrel. Carlos Correa is on pace but could decline.
  17. Free game of the day on MLB.tv for those out of market non-subscribers.
  18. I don't see the Twins as traditional buyers at this deadline but there will be an opportunity to make trades. They might swap veterans for veterans with another contender or swap young talent for young talent since they are a bit overloaded on position players compared to pitchers. If they're just looking for a rental lefty reliever they should be calling the Marlins. They seem to like trading with the Reds and Marlins.
