  1. Probably true, but also why he's decent trade bait. Is Paddack a better bet than Mathews or Festa next season? If he's blocking players with more upside then he should be dealt. If he can return prospects with more long-term potential he should be dealt. I'll put it another way. If Paddack was on a different team, would you want the Twins to trade FOR him? Keep in mind he threw 88 innings with a 5 ERA and makes $7.5M.
  2. I see several players on the 40 man who I am not sure are worth keeping (Canterino, Winder, Duarte, Dobnak, Severino, Kirilloff, Okert after his arbitration raise) and more who will be gone as free agents (DeSclafani, Richards, Margot, Farmer, Santana, Kepler, Thielbar). I count 16 pitchers and 14 position players as must-keeps. That leaves 10 spots to decide who is worth keeping in the long run.
  3. Christian McLeod might have been promoted to see if he should be protected. Travis Adams is also possible, he has pitched better than Raya. Ricardo Olivar will be Rule 5 eligible again and someone might think he is worth adding as a backup catcher. I could see a team taking a flyer on Will Holland, he was having a great season before he got hurt.
  4. The short answer (pun intended) is no. He is 5'5" which would make him the shortest player in MLB and his arm means he's stuck at 2B or LF positionally. That said, he controls the strike zone pretty well. It would be interesting to see how MLB pitchers go after him since they won't be afraid of his power. Tony Kemp is another short 2B/LF you could use as a comparable.
  5. They should absolutely be shopping Paddack this offseason. Someone might give them a couple decent Double-A pitchers in return.
  6. Someone already forgot the Josh Donaldson trade.
  7. This season is the 3rd highest innings pitched total of Paddack's MLB career. He has pitched 140 innings once, 5 years ago. Paddack gave the Twins about what I expected to get from him this season.
  8. I wasn't worried about bandwidth. What is it doing to your cybersecurity?
  9. Having trouble lifting his arm above his head was one thing mentioned.
  10. There is no way I would trust that on my home network. If something looks too good to be true it probably is.
  11. The alternative is trading all of those players earlier because you didn't buy out any free agent years. It makes your competitive window smaller and doesn't save you any money.
  12. The Twins should absolutely give team-friendly extensions to their arbitration eligible players. If they want to maintain a $120M payroll they should absolutely trade the final seasons of those contracts for prospects. Arbitration buyout contracts are net assets, not liabilities. The weird contract is Correa. I don't understand why they gave Correa $36M if they want to run a $120M payroll.
  13. You're really going with Mookie Betts as a reasonable comp for Willi Castro?
  14. Utility players do not command a premium in free agency. Bogaerts and Marcus Semien got $25M a season. Bregman got $20M. Chris Taylor gets $15M. I think $12-$15M is top-end of the market for Willi Castro.
  15. According to Kris Atteberry he's had a chronic injury since the end of last season. That means the Twins tendered a contract to an injured player and let him perform poorly for months.
  16. Because he's injured all the time and it would be hard to turn down $80M guaranteed.
  17. I like Boushley better than Plutko.
  18. Chance #1 was last off-season. Chance #2 is this off-season. If he puts up a full healthy season in 2025 he will probably not sign a team friendly extension, and they will have to look at trading him during the 2026 offseason.
  19. With his injury history and age it could be career ending. Scoping a shoulder is always bad news for a pitcher.
  20. Not signing him is also a huge risk for a team on a tight budget.
  21. The MRI says otherwise. "Weeks to months" of recovery. Ryan's season is probably done.
  22. Long-term 5 years I'm fine with. Teams who lock up arbitration eligible players usually end up with a tradeable asset at the end of the contract (see Polanco). The Twins would be stupid to let all of their players go through arbitration and walk as free agents when they could flip the expensive but still below market rate seasons for prospects instead.
  23. Lee with a bad shoulder is still outplaying 2024 Kyle Farmer.
  24. Thank you for illustrating why everyone decided to cut the cord in the first place and why I am fine not seeing the Twins as long as I never have to deal with cable television companies again.
