    I guess we’ll agree to disagree. Something to consider - Pressly was a rule 5 draftee. Most MLB relievers are drafted as starters. Most relievers have very good years, or very good stretches, but only a handful are very good year after year. In my mind relievers are to be churned through as a consumptive commodity. One that gets purchased in bulk and you sift through and decide who’s a starter, who’s a reliever, who’s on the AAAA Rochester express, and who’s minor league fodder. I feel pretty good that they’ll find another Pressly or two soon.

    I don’t see trading Dozier as punting either. Relief pitchers are fungible. Infield tandem of Polanco 2B Adrianza SS probably yields a better hitting and fielding combo than Dozier/Polanco. Added bonus, Adrianza covers more ground to help with Sano’s Lack of lateral mobility too. Dozier can still provide some prospect assets and no way is he getting a QO anyways... trading him now is win/win

    I don’t believe I am smarter than you Chief, but i’ll Take a stab... His first season was 2015, his birthday is July 1995, so assuming he signed then immediately joined the team, that would put him 19 at the time. I gotta think if he signed earlier, he’d play pro ball during his 18 season... so, with 2018 being his 4th rule 5 draft, he’ll need to be added to the 40 to protect him.

    I think relievers may be viewed by the FO as more fungible than starters. I’m not yet convinced they’ll deal Gibby. Dozier on the other hand...

    you’re a 5 win player until you’re not. The risk/reward of free agency... Earlier this season, there was a new low to the depths of streakiness Dozier had embodied. He’s turning it around now, so there’s some gas left in the tank. His recent performance most likely shortened his next contract, but the annual average is still prolly going to be in the 10-12 mil range, just as if it would have been if 2018 mirrored 2017. Only 2-3 years instead of 4-5...

    As this season goes on, I have my doubts Escobar will be back because he may get traded at the deadline and a larger contract offer from somewhere else. Similarly, I think the FO non-tenders both Mauer and Dozier. I think the FO may re-sign Adrianza, but who knows? Agreed, it would be nice to know what you have in the tandem of Polanco and Gordon, but three issues. 1) Gordon hasn’t yet shown readiness. 2) Gordon, Polanco, Sano in 2b/SS/3b scares the daylights outta me. 3) Dozier, Polanco, Sano scares me worse

    my recollection is that the eighties were down offensive years, and our current generation is up in terms of power hitting. Does 1 in 10 apply for Pucket as the bar? He was a very poor poer hitter when he first came up, he slapped everything. Good observation and a nifty quick math guide!

    I’d be shocked if Sano played in the bigs again in ‘18. Rebuild is in session and with Buxton and Sano that means some serious developmental work.
