  1. Twins are 3 and 10 in one run games, largely because they’ve struggled to score. They could just as easily be 7 and 6 in one run games and be two games over 500 and in first place. There’s a lot of baseball left to play
  2. Hit the nail on the head Nick. This is what keeps me optimistic about winning the division. If the pitching stays healthy, Polanco and Mauer should reinforce the batters soon, and the team we were expecting to watch in March comes to fruition in June.
  3. so a guy who can’t field and can’t hit is on the team why?
  4. If you count Grossman as an outfielder, there’s 5 on the Active Roster, and Taylor Rogers and Matt Magill could both be improved upon. Personally, Rogers and Grossman are my choices to make room, barring injury
  5. absolutely, but the process of making your case and validating it has created a defacto wage scale. Players with age, experience and performance indicators in these parameters make x, a year later make y, and so on. The team here at TD has been locked in for years.
  6. agreed entirely. But man the Ks.... he could do wonders for his stock value by choking up a bit on two strikes.
  7. That was a reassuring performance by LL. One walk, one hbp sure helps my confidence that Lynn is able to make the adjustments to get the ball over the plate effectively (not get hammered)
  8. Seems not unlikely that the Twins were no longer able to recoup any of his salary via insurance. Per the reference, not sure validity but it’s written wel... Policies generally have 3 year periods, not necessarily the whole contract. If this is the case, if an insurance policy was taken out on Hughes’ contract, it would have come due by now. After two TOS surgeries no way is any insurer covering him further. https://metsmerizedonline.com/2013/02/understanding-the-business-of-baseball-insurance-on-player-contracts.html/
  9. this, Phil’s a stand up guy who earned his money. I’m glad he got it, because it would have just lined JPs pocket otherwise. Glad Falvine has the courage to part ways. I’m sure these have been difficult conversations with Pohlad and Hughes.
  10. you forgot the bullpen. Really shallow, and no one true ‘fireman’. Reed is close. All in all, the whole bullpen lets way too many inherited runners score.
  11. https://www.mlb.com/news/joe-mauer-placed-on-disabled-list/c-277417504 Going to the DL
  12. yup, a good fielding first baseman vs a league average fielding first baseman saves you a few runs per year. Gotta mash to play first
  13. does the DH have to be for your pitcher? I think it does
  14. but Magill has been OK. How about Hughes, go throw till your arm falls off, then hit the 60 day
  15. when the TD militia invades, please leave my house intact. Please? I’ve been providing advanced reconnaissance for years.... Please?
  16. with the catching, third base and short stop situations as they are, Falvine can not afford to thin the bench any further. Any rotation changes needs to be done at the expense of the bullpen. Hughes has not been utilized in any way that relieves pressure from the pen and can’t be trusted to hold a lead. If an injury doesn’t surface on the pitching staff, and the JP doesn’t give the OK to release Hughes, that bullpen will get stretched very thin.
  17. Yet again, great work Heezy1323
  18. Great to see the strikeouts for Berrios! I wondered if he was injured, and am now very relieved
  19. Fantastic post Heezy! I feel so much smarter for having read this!
  20. really need the bats to come alive early. Put up about 10 runs early so Molly can hand it over to Hughes with an 8 run lead and watch it dwindle through 3 innings
  21. ”Trevor Hildenberger made an appearance for the third straight game, tell me about his performance” Garver: “Gusty.... he was blowing them away”
  22. The baseballs are made to the same spec by the same company in two different plants. There isn’t enough capacity to make all balls for every league in one plant. The difference between two balls made using the same spec and same process in two plants is materials. Those materials are also made to the same spec using the same process, but in different plants (possibly different suppliers, I don’t know). So if there isn’t enough capacity to make enough balls for every league using one plant, why not have the change from AAA to MLB? If there is enough capacity, why not between AA and AAA?
