  1. I don't agree as I see him as a player always bringing his best every day. Hitting .171 can end your career. He was called up as a warm body to fill a hole with the Saints and he has played super since coming to the Saints. But compare him to a healthy Helman (using last year's stats of 20 homers and 40 SB's) and I think even Helman is ahead of him in power and speed.
  2. I believe we will keep Severino as his value isn't high enough yet to get the right trade done now. The Twins will have to add him to the 40 man roster over the winter though to keep him as that is when other teams spots will open up and someone will take a chance on him.
  3. Why not include Severino with Lee in getting called up to the Saints. Julien's not going back down and Miranda's shoulder is, who knows as everything has been silent on him unless I missed something. There's room on the Saints for the both of them.
  4. I see a rotation between 2B, 3B and DH this year until we get close to the playoffs. Then, we get really good on D - Buxton in CF, Lewis at 3B, Polanco at 2B and Julien at DH. Great D and the best hitting lineup we can get, with Taylor as a defensive sub in LF.
  5. Austin Martin with a very good night. Ernie Yake as well but I'm thinking his reward will be to go down to Wichita when Brooks Lee joins the Saints on Tuesday.
  6. If Wallner's out in RF, would we have said he played bad defense and should have caught that one.
  7. Raya would be that elite arm IMO. The Twins are holding his pitch count down but he's moving up levels at a young age.
  8. Fun! And you get to see one of Brooks Lee's last four games in Wichita from what Ted is saying.
  9. Yea, I was talking about last year when he was mostly at SS at Wichita like Lee is now.
  10. Many more chances to work on your fielding at SS vs 3B. Positions are very similar. With Austin Martin, if the Twins plan was to play him in the OF, there I would agree, get him off SS and working in the OF. You need to practice out there so you don't pull a Royce Lewis and crash into the fence and hurt yourself.
  11. Syndegaard going to the Guardians.
  12. He and Cossetti seem to be two of the best catchers in that league right now.
  13. Not to mention Stevenson, who has the best #'s in St. Paul - great speed, good fielder and he now has 12 homers with a .325 batting average. He's different than our Larnach and Wallner's as his K rate is in the lower 20's.
  14. Trade high rather than low would be the thought. He had 3 straight bad years, and people think that is where he will return to.
  15. Not much more Stevenson can do to make it back to the majors and get another shot. Not being on the 40 man roster hurts him more than anything right now.
  16. Funny you should say.... Thielbar pitched a scoreless inning for the Saints tonight. Now, where is Stewart? Martin pulled early tonight in St. Paul. Don't think we are calling him up. Did we trade him for a relief pitcher? Probably not.
  17. Exactly, and himself. Whose names were on various sites all day - Jenkins and Boras. Boras tells the Twins prior to the draft, we need to get paid over slot and we will sign on the last day. The Twins agreed. No harm to the Twins, except some anxious fans. Now, the press is Boras got overslot for his guy and Jenkins got much more pub than Clark.
  18. Josh Hader in Round 19. Hard to find more recent all-stars as they are still working their way through the systems or just started in the majors. It's rare though. Proves that having 62 round drafts in the past was a really dumb idea. I like the picks just because if something happens with your top 5 picks between the draft and signing, you can all of a sudden offer these high schools, who would have been taken in the 2nd or 3rd round, enough money to sign.
  19. The Twins are very cautious about putting high schoolers into games the year they are drafted. Most of them spend most of the time in the Twins training facilities and backfields in Florida and not in actual box scores we can see.
  20. At least for July the FO is looking like they made great decisions that most of us have not liked this year - keeping Pagan, keeping Kepler and trading for Jorge Lopez last year (okay, his is only one game and not July).
  21. Nowlin moving up to Wichita. Wow, his numbers haven't been great but his walks have been way down lately.
  22. Have to laugh - we are listing pitchers to send down if everyone comes back and we are NOT listing Pagan (and I actually agree).
  23. Probably right. Boras and the Twins have an excellent relationship so I'm sure whatever agreement reached prior to drafting Jenkins will be honored.
