  1. I'm for winning one game at a time and one series at a time. Thus, I have Ober in the pen for the first series. If the game goes extras, him pitching or his earlier innings could be what wins it. He's one of our 10 best pitchers. Game 1 of the next series can be figured out when the time comes.
  2. I see Sabato starting in Wichita next year. The one position on the field that was poor in Cedar Rapids was 1B (Cavaco) so Sabato would really fit in position-wise with that group. Salas should stay in Cedar Rapids and Schobel rejoins his Cedar Rapids group by staying in Wichita.
  3. Just 10 of the top 100 prospects are playing in the AFL. That seems down from prior years. Am I correct? If so, any reason why?
  4. It looks like you are saying we could have Pena, Pena and Pena in the infield for the Twins in 2030. Just need to find one more! Announcers would love that.
  5. I can think of one big reason that you can't bring all of them (Stewart, Alcala, Buxton, Gordon, and Gallo) back to the Twins - you would end up DFA'ing/demoting guys who you are planning on playing in the postseason. What five moves do you want to make to bring all five back to the Twins?
  6. Now where do all these rehabbing limbo guys go? To Florida as they are always playing games at least on the back fields there? Stewart to the Twins I am guessing.
  7. I don't think Celestino is eligible to be taken in the Rule 5 draft. If he does get DFA'd, everyone gets their free chance at him.
  8. I disagree. One major difference - stolen bases. From 2021-2023, Martin has 68 and Celestino has 13. Remember, Celestino had major issues with throwing to the right base, hitting the cutoff and running the bases with the Twins. No clue how he did this year in St. Paul.
  9. Agreed and it also enhances the good relationship with Scott Boras. Can't hurt.
  10. No. They can go 7-1, run every player into the ground, and still end up playing in the first round. Get everyone healthy, line up the rotation, pitch guys on their scheduled days like it's spring training. Don't chase the fools gold.
  11. I thought everyone was complaining how Varland gives up way too many homers, which is about the worst thing a closer can do.
  12. Zero chance. The Twins tried out Julien in LF in the minors and very quickly gave up on that.
  13. Attempt to sign all of them to minor league deals. Prato is basically in the same category as Helman, making it no big deal if we lose Helman. I would like to see Bechtold as a full-time pitcher and go to Wichita to start 2024. I don't think Celestino will be on the 40 man when next season starts.
  14. I believe the consensus is that SS is not his position, emergency only. CF, LF and 2B are his best positions. RF and 3B are probably not common but possibilities, only because I don't see the Twins playing him there in the minors.
  15. Curious, where have you heard the vice versa part because I never have?
  16. I listened to part of the game last night. Adding together his stats and some comments on TD, parts of him are clones of Julien. He doesn't swing at those borderline pitches which gives him a lot of walks and a lot of looking third strikes. But when the pitchers bring it in there, he has the power to blast it out of the park. Easier to change him to swing more at 2 strike pitches than to stop a player who swings at anything they can reach.
  17. Happens to Duran and the other top relievers quite often. This one thing is no reason to sit Jax in the playoffs.
  18. Exactly! That's why you get him up to the Twins for a couple bullpen games. If he looks good, put him as that 11th man in the pen or at least get him ready when we add a pitcher for, hopefully, round 2 of the playoffs.
  19. It's not going to happen. Very hard to catch the Mariners and Rangers as well, just because they have 6 game against each other and someone has to win those games.
  20. What do people think about Martin in LF, Lewis in CF and Lee at 3B? And Martin and Lewis have position flexibility to allow for days off.
  21. Ober is one of our ten best pitchers and I would have him on the playoff roster.
  22. Love to hear this about Julien. Certainly have noticed him improving his defense on the Twins. This may hint that he can stick at 2B if he is working this hard at it. Just has to conquer those LH pitchers (though I understand now is not the time to fight that battle).
  23. I'm amazed that the best defensive SS in the minors, BY FAR, can't make the TD top 20 minor league players list. And his 16 defensive runs saved is rated on an MLB scale. Even if they can't hit much, great fielding shortstops almost always make it to MLB in some fashion. What's better is that he is hitting decent these past two months.
  24. Luplow DFA really makes it more likely that Stephonson makes the 1st round playoff runner for his base stealing and defensive skills.
  25. If he's going to be the most valuable SS on the market, wouldn't we want to tender him and trade him?
