    Am I the only one who finds it interesting that Simeon Woods Richardson and Connor Prielipp are both 22 year olds drafted #48 overall in the draft? They sure took different paths to land as the 6th and 7th best prospects in the Twins’ system in 2023.

He lucked out that Ichiro played one game his last year so isn’t on the ballot until 2025.

    So, to sum up what people are saying, when Ober was 16, his teammates figured he was a square. With the switch to 17, chances are they’ll still think he’s odd. Even as he hits his prime!

    Thought both seasons were great. Aubrey Plaza stole the show in the second season, but it’s hard to top the manager from season one. And the music from season two is definitely ear-wormy.

    This story is great—love the “oh he’s gone, I can finally get my old number back” angles. You obviously have to expand to the trade market, though. Sandy Alcantara is #22, so either Jax is going to be included in the trade or he’s setting himself up for a big payday when the trade occurs. Reminds me years ago about a story John Kruk told, trading his number to Mitch Williams for 20 bucks and a case of beer. He said that after a while, the money was gone, Williams was gone, and the beer was gone, too. Sad!

    My initial reaction to this article was to agree with you - he’s also a terrible defender! However, looking closer, Adell was, in fact, a terrible as a defender in 2020, when he was brought up too early, played some CF, as both other positions. He posted a -28.1 UZR/150 during his time in CF that year. However, after that, In 2021 and 2022 he didn’t play a single inning in CF. The result? Well, his defensive numbers since then haven’t actually been awful; in fact he posted a (slightly) positive UZR/150 in RF in 2021 and a (slightly) positive UZR/150 in LF in 2022. Of course, both of those numbers were negative for the opposite field in the respective years. If he starts posting OPS’s of 850+ like he did through his early minors, his defensive shortcomings can be overlooked. And hopefully his defense continues to trend in a better direction, and his offense does too. Worth a flier if the price isn’t too steep, for sure. I doubt Cole Sands would be enough for the Angels to cut bait, though—perhaps a Marco Raya, David Festa, or Brett Headrick might?

    According to mlb.com rankings, Silva is the fourth best C prospect: Ethan Salas signed with Padres for $5.6mm (MLB #1 ranked for 2023 intl) Duno signed with the Reds for $3.1 million (MLB #5 ranked for 2023 intl) Gutierrez signed with the Mets for $1.9mm (MLB #27 ranked for 2023 intl)

    Great analysis Parker. Looking forward to seeing him back on the mound later this year, and seeing a better slider. As for the extension, to me the conversation had to be like this: we traded a lot to get you for two years, and now we are only getting part of one. Let us get at least some of that lost time back by tacking on a year of free agency at a fair price - then you can go after your big paycheck.

    Good article, Peter. Agree completely that Correa adds a lot of additional value beyond his contributions in the field and in the batter’s box. I think he will grow to appreciate the fact that he will only have two teams he has played for in his entire career. May he and Buck lead this team to great things over the next six+ years!

    While both are from Venezuela, the answer seems to be no. From the former Twins’ pitcher’s Wikipedia page: “Silva resides in Medina, Minnesota, with his wife Maria Hermann, son Justin, born June 12, 2007, and daughter Gabriella, born September 8, 2008.” Undoubtedly a namesake for the Venezuelan-made-good, though!

    I’m looking thought Rockies listings on MLB Trade Rumors, it seems clear that one thing the Rockies are looking for is a LH hitting OF, preferably a center fielder, so trading from the Twins’ [redundancy of? plethora of? stable of?] left handed outfielders to the Rockies makes even more sense. To top it off, the Rox appear stretched financially, so trading Marquez’ more expensive contract for Kepler’s cheaper one works too. The Rockies aren’t necessarily in “win now” mode, so maybe a deal would work even better with a pitching prospect or two thrown in for a current reliever? I doubt Daniel Bard would come back, but how about adding in Tyler Kinley (reunion!) for Festa and Headrick?

    Thanks, Ted—hadn’t seen the full list before, or the dollar figures for Silva and Chivilli. Looks like the Twins are scouting Venezuela heavily—wonder if Arraez’ success has helped? Chivilli was ranked #38 by mlb, but elsewhere was listed top ten, so the higher signing amount makes sense. (One note—I think your link to the Jamie Cameron October piece is wrong.)
