  1. It's amazing the bullpen has been as good as it has. For the last month they have basically had only Jax and Duran as their only two reliable arms.
  2. 18K's and a full on bullpen meltdown. Just gotta turn the page and be ready for tomorrow. Bullpen meltdowns happen. That's baseball. The K's are a chronic and worrying problem.
  3. At least Correa didn't hit into a double play.
  4. Do you have a problem with Mad? I learned a lot of valuable life lessons from Mad.
  5. Does anyone know when Stewart is coming back? At first they said it wasn't serious, but it's been a month already.
  6. When things are going good, they're going good. Good teams don't give up. Big win!
  7. The Santana trade has to be up there. At the end of the day, what did they get.... NOTHING (see article above). I hated the trade at time and it didn't age well. There was no reason to make the trade. He was under contract through 2008. If they couldn't reach agreement on a contract they could have made him play it out and then let him walk after 2008 and take the compensation picks. Instead they traded him for a collection of projects from the Mets and missed winning the division by one game. I don't like it when people say you gotta get something for a pending free agent. Is there no value in watching a generational talent like Johan for one more season and making the playoffs? That one just really stings.
  8. Please please trade for Lars Nootbaar! That name just screams Minnesota. Seriously though, I think Carlson would be a better fit than some of the names I've seen thrown about. That said, I don't see a package that would get it done. The Twins organization is not deep in pitching, and they will probably have to add another arm in the off-season. The Twins should be clinging to young controllable arms like Varland and SWR, and I don't see the Cardinals taking more outfielders in return.
  9. If Turner keeps putting up decent numbers, I gotta think he forgoes his option and takes one more lap through free agency.
  10. If Dobnak can get back to his old self it would really help the Twins down the stretch. Getting Stewart and Thielbar back would be icing on the cake.
  11. A playoff contender should not have Keuchel on their roster. It's a great story, but he's cooked. If he wants to hang around and wait for an injury and a chance to prove himself, fine, but under no circumstances should the Twins rearrange the rotation to accommodate him. If he wants to opt out, then let him go.
  12. I just really disagree with this. They are in first place and have a good chance to make they playoffs. Yeah, this is an imperfect roster. However, what wins in the playoffs; pitching and defense. The Twins have good pitching and they can catch the ball. Can they go toe to toe with the Rays and the Orioles? The odds are against it, but it's not outside the realm of possibility.
  13. I gotta disagree on this one. Scott Erickson in first half of 1991: 12-3 1.83 ERA. And those stats don't even tell how dominant he was. It's too bad, Right before the All Star break he started experiencing elbow discomfort. He was never the same after that. He was still a good pitcher, but no longer the dominant force he was in the latter half of '90 and the first half of '91.
  14. Good article, but given the choice, I take Viola any day. In his prime he was an absolute beast. He was just flat out fun to watch. And as mentioned, he threw 255 innings in 1987. That's less wear on the bullpen.
  15. Now the question is what happens when Polanco comes back? Do they send Wallner back down or do they pull the plug on Kepler or Gallo?
  16. Thanks (or no thanks) for the article. I do take issue with calling Mahle a "top-of-the-rotation starting pitcher". He never was. He had one decent season.
  17. Agreed. That Acuna HR was the death blow. If it was only a one run game then maybe the Twins send that runner home in the 8th on the fly to Rosario.
  18. The three highest paid guys in the lineup, Correa, Buxton, Gallo.....are a combined 0-9 today.
  19. I know Vasquez isn't a speed demon, but you gotta run that out a little harder.
  20. Thanks for this article. The bigger question is what did they see that prompted the front office to sign him for $11 million??? This was a bizarre signing from day one. That's a lot of money for a reclamation project.
