    Agree 100 percent. A lot of teams will be looking for help and the Twins system isn't as deep as it once was.

    Other than the NY series coming up, the Twins have a soft schedule going into the all star break. Hopefully they can pile up some wins and put themselves in the driver's seat for a playoff spot.

    I wrote this on another page, but to me cutting ties with Santana makes the most sense. How can you have a 38 year old who provides almost zero offense occupying what has historically been an offense-first position? And if he's not getting time at first, then he has no value to this team. Do you really want him to just DH and pinch hit? Margot can at least kind of play the outfield. (Although he should be DFAd in favor of Keirsey.) As the playoff picture stands right now, the Twins are a bubble team. If they miss the playoffs by one game will Falvey be able to look in the mirror and say he put out the best team possible on a daily basis? If they keep giving guys like Santana and Margot at-bats the answer is "no".

    Thanks for the updates. Hopefully Wallner is getting things going. We all know what he's capable of.

    I don't think this is as difficult as it needs to be. Santana is 38 and is hitting at the Mendoza line. Release him and have Miranda and Kirilloff platoon at first.

    This probably won't happen, but they need to release Santana so Miranda can play first when Lewis comes back. His defense has been solid, but I don't know how they can justify keeping him in the lineup. A major league first baseman having trouble staying above the Mendoza line isn't going to cut it. He's had a good career, time to start thinking about the next phase of his life.

    Yeah, the bullpen has some issues, but 4 hits is usually not gonna get it done. There's been too many games where the offense takes the day off.

    I don't get that. He didn't pitch yesterday and they have the day off tomorrow, but what do I know. Funderburk got the job done so I guess it all worked out.

    I just tuned in and have the Toronto feed. They're speculating there's some availability issue with Jax or Duran. Did I miss something?

    The bullpen is taking most of the blame, but the reason they were exposed was because of the short start. Woods-Richardson wasn't foolin anybody today. There were some bad calls by the ump, but he just couldn't put people away.

    No one said he was Babe Ruth, but he already has 0.6 rWAR (mostly from his defense). Compared to Margot, I would take that.

    We'll probably never know how negotiations went with Michael A. Taylor, but it sure would be nice to see him in CF with Buxton out.

    I feel bad for the fans in Miami. They apparently aren't going to attempt to put a quality product on the field.

    Always good insight from Cody Christie, but I'm not drinking the Kool-Aid on this one. It was a dumb trade at the time, and it's only gotten worse in hindsight. 1. Berrios still had another year of team control. Did the Twins learn nothing from the Johan Santana trade? If you have good young pitching you cling to it. The ding against Martin, right or wrong, is that he has a limited ceiling. SWR was and still is a project. We had to give up a batting champion with three years of team control to get Pablo Lopez. Berrios should have fetched a similar return. (If they had signed Berrios they wouldn't have had to make that trade in the first place.) 2. The narrative being pitched by the media was that Berrios was hellbent on testing the free agent market and wouldn't sign with the Twins. Yet after the trade, what happens.....he signs a long term deal with Jays, under terms that would not have broken the bank for the Twins. As you can guess, anytime this trade is discussed it gets my blood up.

    Especially when they had Tonkin on the roster, and now Bowman. Yeah, I don't get it. Did Alcala break one of Rocco's prized bobbleheads or something?

    Definitely no help from Stewart, but why was he diving to the bag? If he runs through the bag it's an out.
