    https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2025/02/twins-sign-ty-france.html Phil Miller of ST (via MLBTraderumors) is reporting that Ty France is only getting $1 million, and it's only guaranteed if he makes the club. So I guess he'll have a few weeks in Ft Myers to show if he still has anything left.

    Interesting, but I don't see it. As you said, they're probably not going to be competitive, so why would they take that contract? And he's been anything but an innings eater the last few years. I don't think the Marlins ownership cares what MLB thinks of their payroll.

    Yeah, I like Castro and/or Lee better than either of those two. I thought $6 million for Bader was steep. Why would they throw that kind of money at DeJong?

    I know some will disagree, but Smalley was my favorite of their color commenters. Maybe it's a generational thing. As others mentioned above, he always picked out little details about the game that I never knew before or didn't see. He struck me as having a really smart baseball mind.

    There didn't need to be much vetting of Rubenstein. Everyone knew the check would clear.

    Everything you said is true, but it's still also true that Correa and Buxton have been part-time players. Did the front office err in signing them, or are they just unlucky? I don't know the answer. I thought the Buxton signing was a team friendly deal and was all for it. The Correa signing only makes sense if they have a payroll approaching $200 million.

    I think this sums it up. They are not a big market team, and never will be, yet they have over a third of their payroll sunk into two guys, Buxton and Correa, who are essentially part-time players.

    If he makes the opening day roster it's going to be a long season.

    The price of pitching keeps going up, and so now there's all these articles about how the Twins should trade their reasonably priced/controllable pitchers (Lopez and Duran) to maximize their value. But how would the Twins replace them? They can't! These discussions make no sense to me.

    Santana will probably have other options. I wouldn't be opposed to having Solano as a part time player. Not really interested in the rest of them.

    I just saw that. Very sad. Didn't see that coming. He was only 65. One of the great characters of the game and one helluva ballplayer.

    Yeah, I thought he would get more. Maybe he's thinking he can showcase himself on a big market playoff team like the Phillies and then get a bigger deal next year.

    Speaking of Donovan Solano.....why not sign him to platoon at first? He was ok with the Twins, he put up decent numbers in limited action with the Padres, he's right-handed, he's probably cheap, and he's available.

    I don't think it changes their plans, because I don't think he was being shopped before and I don't think he's being shopped now. I don't believe the Twins starting pitching is as deep as some people on this website believe. If they trade Lopez, they could fill some holes, but would be creating another. Matthews, Festa, etc...are still unproven.

    I don't really get it. No player is worth that much for that long. Although I guess if you're Steve Cohen and can afford to light money on fire, price doesn't matter.

    I heard a rumor that the Twins were willing to do $765 million, but they wanted to defer the payments out through 2124.

    I don't know why anyone would buy this stuff on Black Friday. You can probably get all of it on clearance once the team is sold.

    I have not seen the documentary and don't intend to. I still remember the Twins -Yankees series and don't need to relive it.
