    Sorry, Rick, re-reading my post it came off a bit snarky. Not intended that way at all. When we did all the math last time, it got a bit "contested". Actually, Ryan also has a later release point, which also explains why his FB plays up in velocity, too. Not as extreme as Ober, but still a difference.

    We did this analysis last year, but because of Ober's extreme height and, accordingly, extended release point, he adds about 3 mph to his fastball (effectively) compared to an average sized MLB pitcher. The ball has to travel a shorter distance from release to home plate. I don't want to do all the math again, but you are free to try it yourself if skeptical.

    Very interested to see how Keuchel fares against an excellent Rays lineup.

    Starting to get very worried about Wallner. He can't handle the high fast ball. He looks like Gallo on high fast balls, which is not a good thing. I hope it is a slump as opposed to being overmatched. We already have a LH hitting OF who is a AAAA player: Larnach. Don't want another one.....

    Julien shows excellent plate discipline yet again. Excellent OBP for a rookie. Now Twins need to cash in!

    Wow, Wallner can't hit fastballs last few games. Yikes!

    OK, cleanish 1st inning for Lopez, now let's go with the O and bury these guys. They are one foot out the door as it is.

    Only against lefties, and still hope Luplow will not be on post-season roster.

    Unusually poor throw by Correa, but it was difficult with running full speed over the base and then making the throw. He probably turns that at least 75% of the time. Bit worrisome for Duran, but he finished very strongly. Good win. Lewis looks like he could be special.

    Buxton vs. elite starting pitching in the playoffs is not a good matchup. Many K's on low outside breaking balls. I asked this back when his contract was announced: Did the Twins get insurance on all or part of that guaranteed contract? I sure hope so, at least as a fan of the team hoping that it will not become a complete sunk cost.

    Of all the Twins, Julien has had the worst luck with balls called strikes by Umps. I do not know how to check that statistically, but that is what I have seen in watching many games this year. He has a discerning eye at the plate, sometimes better than the Umps themselves.....

    Castro at 1.4 WAR despite missing time, and his OPS is over 50 points higher than 2022. I like his versatility and, apparent, enthusiasm. His speed has also proved useful. Good glue guy for our roster.

    Twins through 6: 9 LOB Guards through 6: 1 LOB Twins with 7 line drive outs that were stung. Very close 2B/HR call went against them, too. Hopefully justice will be served and they win anyways.

    Actually allowed 1 run; the Manfred Man does not count vs. their stats. Just sayin'. ;)

    The inability of professional home plate umpires to call balls and strikes, frankly, surprises me. You literally have one job to do. I know it is tough, with lots of movement on pitches, but you are supposed to be the best of the best and are VERY well compensated. It is very frustrating to watch Mr. Magoo behind the plate night after night. Cuts both ways, but the last Texas series the stats were heavily skewed in Texas' favor. I daresay tonight as well.

    Jenkins is not as lean and quick as Trout at a similar age. Jenkins is a thicker, taller, stouter looking athlete with a longer swing. Doug Mientkiewicz sees Larry Walker as a good comparison. I actually see a little (non switch hitting) Mantle in him. How's that for high expectations?!?

    Substantial omission from game report at AAA: Lee made an error in the first inning that should have been the 3rd out. Next batter hit 3 run homer, for 3 unearned runs. Ooofdah.

    It is certainly disappointing, but the likelihood that any of the quality arms were going to reach the Twins was slim. So you still have the same team. Go out and win. (And call up Martin, please. I want to see what he can do at this level....)

    I actually like this rule, but I do agree that once a team is awarded a single player, they should revert to the back of the line. It sucks for the Angels, trading 4 good prospects and then a couple weeks later letting these guys go for free with no compensation except money and, possibly, a higher comp pick if Ohtani walks. Brutal.
