  1. Really interesting analysis. Thank you. The little things account for a lot in MLB. It would be fun if you were to revisit this sometime around the All-Star break. Royce will have had to make some adjustments by then, even if unrelated to the points you have highlighted.
  2. I keep reading how impressive Rodriguez is and keep getting stuck at that .240 BA. I'm just an old man in a hat, but if he doesn't take a significant step forward in his batting average I'm still going to be hesitant to believe he is as promising as folks keep saying. Hoping 2024 sets those concerns aside. Nice write up. Thanks
  3. 9th inning. The bases are loaded. There are 2 out. The game is tied, or maybe you're down by a run. Wouldn't you rather have Arraez at the plate rather than a home run happy hitter who's carrying a batting average of .245? Arraez is very valuable. With the quality infielders we have I don't see us paying him what he's worth. CC is the only infielder we have who isn't far cheaper than what Arraez is going to command. Still think of him in that 9th inning scenario, though.
  4. Tovar was a favorite of mine. LOTS of energy from that guy. Never met a Twins fan who didn't appreciate him. Good memories
  5. Is this the beer that gives you delusions of getting a young, cheap, superstar pitcher for a couple players we don't really want? Pretty sure I've heard of it. Fun (and funny) ideas race through your head. Great stuff!
  6. I have no idea why I'm finding numerous places where I read that the Marlins are interested in trading Luzardo, but I'd trade nearly anyone not named Lewis or Jenkins for him.
  7. This could have wheels. This guy (in the video) seems to like Polanco more. I'm thinking I'd do that.
  8. I do not pretend to be especially educated in all that would go into figuring out what Gilbert is worth, bit if read that the Twins had gotten Gilbert for Brooks Lee and Matt Wallner I'd be pretty excited. Too much? Far too little? I'm anxious to read what others think.
  9. Those were fun days! Turning the game over to the bullpen with a lead, however small, felt like a game in the win column. Ozzie Guillen even commented on how tough they were.
  10. Thanks for sharing. And welcome back! I hope this adventure where something comes out of (seemingly) nowhere has given you time to reflect on your relationships. That has been the most illuminating part for me since an underwhelming diagnosis. When you slow down enough to appreciate the love in your life it can bring a calm and peace you've not taken the time to bathe in before. I hope that's true for you. And yes. The Twins have been incredibly annoying! God forbid they get out front of anything! (I'd acknowledge the Vazquez signing last year, but that would make my righteous indignation seem as childish as it is) Hopefully they were just waiting for you and are ready to pounce on a great trade. To your health!
  11. Nice write up. Thanks. I cannot see Canterino as a bullpen piece. Not permanently. The Twins are too short handed in starting pitchers. They need him as a starter. That said, he's thrown so few innings that they may feel he is best served by coming out of the bullpen this year and moving back to a starter next year. And of course, anxious to see what we have in Martin and Lee.
  12. I was a Larnach fan and expected great things. I've pretty much thrown in the towel at this point. He knows what the problem is and he apparently cannot fix it. Too bad. I thought it was a good draft pick when the Twins selected him.
  13. Sure hope Buxton numbers come through. Also that Wallner exceeds his projections. Mostly looks quite positive. I like it.
  14. I'd be pretty tempted to try to get a young talented pitcher for Brooks Lee. Having another playoff caliber pitcher would impact this team more than an upgrade at any other position. No disrespect, but yeah. I'd trade him in a heartbeat for a Gilbert or Kirby sort of pitcher. How much more trade bait would be required?
  15. Well written. It's depressing to think about what the upcoming season would look like without Funderburk, Varland, Ober and Julien. I'm sure most MLB teams hit on some of these late round picks, but I suspect the Twins are recently among the best. Go Twins!
  16. Sign him so we can trade him? Didn't we already do that with Farmer & Gordon? Serious question
  17. I can't even imagine a scenario where MLB teams would draft players either PRIOR to their final year or months after their season is over. On the other hand, I think brainstorming ideas for generating interest in the off season is a good practice. Notice I have offered nothing. I'll try to think of something now. Thinking... it's hard when you don't practice.
  18. Nice find Adam. I like it. I am not comfortable with the Gordon/Castro/Martin solution. Do either Martin or Gordon provide true CF coverage? We know Castro prefers the infield. Really appreciate Castro's contributions last year. Can Gordon bounce back? Can Martin hit MLB pitching? Finding a true MLB outfielder seems like a wise move. Farmer may be an over payment, but this has potential.
  19. Nice rundown of these pitchers. Each was unique, with a couple being (what appears in hindsight as) really delusional and most simply being poor gambles. Thanks for the recap. Now I'm going to try to never think of those people again.
  20. Fun writing. When you effectively say, these things don't matter - let's talk about them. Then you made it fun to read anyway. Nicely done!
  21. Great memories - pitcher's hand, the Bowery Boys, Nellie Fox fat handled bats, cards in the bicycle spokes. Thanks y'all!
  22. All I want is to look at a BBRef or FanGraphs page from 2028 and see what Lee did in 2024, '25, '26 and '27. Then I'd know at least one player to offer or not offer. Anyone got a password for that?
  23. Options 2 and 3 look good for the Twins. If Lee is as promising as suggested he would be an awful lot to give up.
  24. Really good points about Miranda & Kirilloff. I believe that trade conversations for top, young, controllable pitchers include words like Royce Lewis and Brooks Lee. Furthermore, I believe that's about where those conversations end. If the Twins want what appears to be a 'sure thing' pitcher they will have to pay dearly.
  25. I really am excited about having Royce Lewis in the lineup for the full season. Buxton, however, has already shown that he can generate consistency at the plate. His >.800 OPS from 2019 through 2022 is evidence of that. I know, we need Buck to be healthy for a full season. If he is then much fun is in store for Twins fans. He and Correa could make many pitchers uncomfortable.
