  1. Sounds like fun. I'll be living vicariously through you folks. Have a great time and, of course, Go Twins!
  2. I'm reluctant to speak in the 'near absolutes' that you use. However, I find it very difficult to argue with the last part of your post.
  3. A nice look at things past, present and future. A bit of a loss as to why people keep mentioning Zebby Mathews, but I suspect y'all are following him closer than I am. Bullpen will be an adventure if no one steps up. Otherwise things are coming together nicely. Go Twins!
  4. Fun article! This, to me, is really interesting. I had wondered last year about this. Average BABIP runs around. 300. Assuming you start making contact with that third strike you should wind up with more hits. Likely not .300 worth, but some should slip through. Some at bats will still be strikeouts and some will be weakly hit. To have such a high % of at bats change reeks of a modification to a coach's approach. Anyone have any evidence or opinion about this?
  5. Festa throws the ball real fast, too. Do we know if Zebby's FB has movement? Even Duran can't just throw it by everybody. Anyone have an answer? Thanks in advance
  6. This may be my favorite post by Stu. It is timely and shows how Congress, if they wanted to, could actually address the important issues facing Americans. We can dream...
  7. For no particularly good reason I am not as bullish on Lee as many here. I'm also not as knowledgeable, so that's good. All in for Lee being an instant asset when he gets to MLB. Just some of the things Falvey has said sounded like he was trying to get another team interested in trading for Lee. Very much hope I'm wrong.
  8. Fun stuff. A fella can dream. Did bring to mind, though: would any team take Keoni Cavaco? If so, why?
  9. Your columns are a great way to start the weekend. Thanks again.
  10. This. Four of Cave's last 5 games he has been put in the game as a defensive replacement. That suggests he's still a better defensive option than some who are starting the games.
  11. All these fans saying "No", and not one has even asked why we would trade for a player with an OPS+ of 86. If this were to happen I would be looking out the window for flying pigs 🐖.
  12. Yes, this trade aged poorly. Still, Gil pitched 33 MLB innings prior to this year, his age 26 season. The Yankees traded Cave for a lottery ticket. This lottery ticket paid off (eventually). A lucky trade for the Yankees.
  13. I don't often comment on these, but I really enjoy them. Thank you
  14. This is why I have trouble being a Julien fan. Strikeouts are frustrating. Strikeouts looking, especially fastballs that are very obviously strikes, are maddening. Yes, he's productive. How much better could he be if he swung the bat at half the third strikes thrown to him that he's currently taking? Just drives me crazy.
  15. I was excited when they drafted him. Then I had pretty much given up on him learning to hit breaking balls. Really fun to see him producing for the team. If he can keep this up we have another slot in the lineup that is truly dangerous.
  16. Short swing = lower bat speed (usually). Higher bat speed = harder hit ball (if hit 'squarely'). These stats could take a while to become useful.
  17. Excellent article. Thank you. There are times when the Twins look practically unbeatable. Makes it really fun to be a fan. Go Twins!
  18. Me! It was me. Guilty. This past off season I asked if people were ignoring his .240 batting average from last year. I do not find a BA of .240 in A+ league having me getting anxious to grease his wheels to be fast tracked to MLB. He's currently hitting .281. Very different. It's still a SSS, but my skepticism is waning.
  19. I get that Bowman's 5.62 FIP is not inspiring, but his ERA of 2.35 is what has really happened. I don't even understand how you can calculate an FIP that high when he's sporting a WHIP of 0.783. Odd. Great article. Pitchers have been much better than this (usually) optimist thought they would be.
  20. Exciting promotion for Rall. Few fly through the complicated steps of MLB coaching so quickly. Anxious to see what he has cooked up for the team in this homestead. I'm sure it's something juicy!
  21. Fewer than 10 weeks ago Emmanuel Rodriguez was 20 years old. He has had fewer than 80 PA in AA ball. His hitting stats look good, but we need to show some patience. I'd like to see Martin and Castro cover CF until we get Buxton back. Hopefully that will be soon. Really appreciate seeing him in CF and running the bases. I also believe Buxton, over the season, will have an OPS >.800, as he did each year from 2019 through 2022. Go Twins!
