    My point is that CLE is going to be tough. For us to compete against them, I just stated 2 areas that we could improve on for us to wrestling the title away from them. Buxton motivates by his exploits and Correa verbally but now when his production is light his motivation is shallow. We have the talent but lack the confidence to come from behind & win the tight games.

    You are probably right on that. But in my book, clutch hitting isn't always hitting with RISP. It's some how getting a hit in a close a low scoring game & then the next does the same. You scratch & claw for a run. IMO it's not getting a hit with RISP when the game is not in play. We are not that slow we rank 14 out 30 teams. We have only 2 players under the 27 ft./ sec.     The pitching has been pretty good. the defense has been pretty good, but base running could be improved on (besides Buxton & Taylor) along with clutch hitting. It's easy to hit a bunch HRs when we don't need them but get a hit when we need it is a difficult thing for us.

    My eyes will be on Richardo Olivar. The Twins are quiet on Olivar but besides showing a nice bat, he has the athleticism of becoming a top catcher. IMO quality is much better than quantity. The Twins are packed with mediocre catchers that at best profile at MLB back-ups, they then take up playing time of those who have promise.

    As everyone knew, Alcantra was going to be tough. Even though the loss, I was very encouraged by Maeda's performance. 9 SO, 0 BB & only 3 hits. Unfortunately, one of those hits was a big one. My observation about Pagan is that he has a lively arm. In low leverage situations he's effective; but in high leverage, he's too pumped and he can't control his stuff. Keep him in low leverage, extend him to 2 or even 3 innings if the condition calls for it.

    Relieved with Mahle's performance, I'm very hopeful with his this year season. I'm still anxious about Maeda.

    I agree w/ most texts, it's a win/ win for everybody. CES & Steer were blocked & would never play MLB here but now Steer starts & CES will soon. Mahle has a chance to be on a contender. Reds & Twins got what they wanted. IMO this didn't do their due diligence as w/ Pagan& Paddack but if Mahle pitches like he's capable of, it'll be OK. We could extend him and or like Karbo said we'd get a good draft pick out of him. It didn't turned out the way we wanted it because of all the injuries. But it could be worth it if the injuries are better managed & we win at least a post season game & get the monkey off our backs this year.

    I think Winder could become a SP because he has some secondary pitches to go with his FB & slider, if they handle him right, reshaping his FB should help. Also knowing his shoulder tendencies, they should have eased him in slowly. Go from sparingly used as a glorified short RP to a full fledged SP, IMO wasn't wise. They should have lengthen his innings as long relief where was thriving, then do some spot starting. Smeltzer had been all ramped up for sometime & should have called up to fill that SP role, left by those early injuries. To reiterate, I think Winder could still become a SP, if taken slower & used inside his profile. Like MikeLink said it's waste to lose a starter. Another note: When FO should have closed their mouth about converting Graterol to RP, they didn't. He looked great in '19, the whole MLB were in awe of him as a SP. It was exciting to watch. Then they broadcasted him as RP, which destroyed his value. Maybe they got gun shy. But the likes of Duran & Winder, MLB has doubts of their ability to stick there. So IMO it doesn't matter much.

    Not Kepler or Gordon because they have been terrible, they make us regret losing Arraez. But Buxton is a scoring threat, Right now he's our best choice. When Polanco comes back, he could also be a choice. Near future RH bat Martin/ LH bat Julien, they will help us to forget Arraez.

    It'll be a very interesting series, a lot of emotions. There's an outside chance for a sweep. If Mahle is on we should win, if not it'll be tough. Maeda it'll be tough to win. Ober had pitched better than both of them. I'd feel much better if he were in long relief in Sands place. Pablo Lopez/ Jesus Lazardo should be a good game but my money is on Lopez. Will Buxton start CF at least one game in MIA? I hope so! Go Twins!

    Thanks Seth, I have high hopes for Ricardo Olivar. For a player to develop as a catcher he has to actually needs to catch (more the better) & be trained. He has an above average arm but has trouble throwing guys out. An athletic guy like him should be able to master that w/ proper training & playing time. Graduating to high A we usually see regression as far hitting goes. Hope in Olivar's case it's minimal & he'd develop more defensively. Hope for Cossetti to rise very quickly with Olivar on his shirt tails. I'm curious how the pitching will fare.

    Happy that Gallo has finally woke up his bat but Kepler's is still sleeping. Great to sweep KC & be in 1st. But CLE has played SEA tough, we'll have our hands full.

    I'm all for Robo Ump. There's too much inequality in umpiring. Big names & teams seems to get the breaks, Robo Umps you don't get that. For example NYY, Umps are really razed, this can't help but influence the game. Robo Umps also takes this grief off the umps backs. Definitely not another challenge out let, it disrupts the game too much.

    It's great to have KC the 1st series, while players still seem to try to work things out but yet were able to win both. Gray didn't look that impressive but Thielbar striking out the side was. defense & Buxton have been our saving grace. Let's not rest everybody, show no mercy & go for the sweep. Go Twins!

    We desperately need a lead off man right now! Kepler isn't getting it done, other options Polanco not here, Gallo & Gordon aren't hitting. Lucky we are playing the Royals. Let's bring up right now. He can play 1B or 2B, he can't be any worse than Gordon.

    Julien is for real! It's amazing how poised he is. How well he plays yet he doesn't get the awards that is due him. He's a perfect lead off man when he gets up here. Hopefully soon.

    I have been hopeful lately that he'd turn things around hitting but it seems that teams are trying to get around the shift to hinder his comeback. So we'll have to see. He plays a good corner OF & 1B but it's not that we don't have anyone who can't play there. Fortunately we have plenty of CF subs where don't need to count on him there. I'd prefer to see Gordon in the OF than 2B. So far it's been 1 game, He saved P Lopez w/ decisive DP. Hopefully we don't arrive to a point where we're desperate for his glove and hopefully he can start hitting where it justifies for him to be on the team.

In doing so, López became the first Twins pitcher to earn an Opening Day win on the road since Brad Radke in 2003." WOW! can that be true? It's been that long, that we've won an opener away! That's a good sign to begin the season for our pinstripes by breaking that terrible streak. Another Venezuelan (Johan Santana) who started the Twins with 2 very good pitches, found his 3rd pitch (CU) and became an elite SP. It's a lofty idea but maybe Pablo Lopez who has 2 very good pitches which now has found his 3rd pitch (sweeper) can become an elite SP. One can dream.

    No the definition of a SP, is a pitcher who starts a game. So you have the same definition for "long relief" as Baldelli (& maybe most fans), a glorified short RP who pitches 2 innings. IMO this does very little to take the pressure off the rotation & BP which I believe what long relief needs to do. Agree with me or not. My idea of long relief is a pitcher who could start but can't because of #1 there is no room in the rotation or #2 he needs more time to stretch into a full fledge SP in the rotation. The mentality of long relief should be the same as a SP & that's to win the game; not to hold, not to save but to win.

    I observe things, I observed that after Polanco injured himself, there was no big deal. IDK if they even acknowledged the injury, they just kept on playing him. I observed he was playing hurt and seriously wondering why they weren't placing him on IL right away & treat whatever was wrong. And after they placed him the IL, they rushed to get him off it. I was very concerned that Polanco was kept from ST from an injury that FO was not concerned about because Polanco is a type of player that bounces back very quickly, so I expected him to be 100% coming. This could have been just a simple injury with minimal down time if treated properly. But because of their gross mismanagement, his down time has greatly been multiplied. These are only my assumptions of what I observe, 1st they said it was tendonitis but now they say it's a bone bruise, don't you think they knew this from the beginning? How do you think the fanbase would respond if they came out being honest & said before ST that Polanco was going to be out until 2 wks. after season opener from such a minimal injury? It'd be easier if they hope Polanco would pull off another quick recovery & avoid any questions about how they handle him last year. & if he doesn't they can string us along until he's back and by that time we are so happy to have him back that we forget how we got to this point. Don't get me wrong, I'm 100% how they are bringing him along now. If they'd resort to their old ways & rushed Polanco thru, they'd make things much worse & jeopardize his career.

    Good solutions Jamie. IMO the lack of information from the FO is that they want to avoid confrontation from fans for their mismanagement of player's health & the consequences from those decisions. Polanco's health problem is the effect of the abuse that was done last season & FO wants to minimize it. I looks like the team is on the right track now & the injuries will be less severe & fewer. After Polanco becomes 100% hopefully the FO will become more transparent.
