    I'm excited about the transactions that have done this off season. And I like the slogan of "inspired by the past; built for the future,". We've never had a successful post season w/o the pinstripes. I'm not crazy about the uniforms but I don't care as long as they include pinstripes. Because you can't have a winning attitude & tradition w/o them, the others are a waste of time & $. They need to focus more on our winning past to establish a foundation of our future winning. Many young people have no ideas what a winning post season looks like. Living in Brazil, I don't go to many games anymore. The last game I went to was in '21, I was very disappointed. Not only that we lost to DET but also the people around me were disconnected to the game. The young people spent all their time on their cellphones. So I think Tik Tok does very little in sparking interest in the game (although it might support what's there.) Baseball is a family sport. I came to love baseball by watching the Twins with my Dad. Baseball tournaments were family events. I believe that's how many of us got involved. If you want to spark interest in the Twins with the young people you need to promote Family night, Big Brothers events and make watching Twins more assessible on TV. IMO the disinterest in baseball is due to the family break down that & less accessibility To many Americans the WBC is nothing. But to many Latin American & Oriental teams, they go crazy over these games. They aren't concerned about their cellphone when they're at the games. They are totally in the game, and it's refreshing to see.

    I was all in for putting him in AAA, until we need him. But with those early opt outs, IMO the Twins will not look at his record but look at his stuff and sign him. Much like Pagan.

    It seems to me that there have been large group of pretty good catchers out there. Composed of starters, younger starters, MLB ready prospects & prospects; many have 2 or 3 in their system. Last year we had none. Now we got Vazquez with Jeffers and nobody in the wings. After Vazquez is gone, we have Jeffers (which I've not seen him as a starter) for 1 year. IMO we are wasting our time of Vazquez mentoring on Jeffers. My point we need someone who can step in & do great for years after Vazquez leaves, which isn't Jeffers. So we need a very good soon to be MLB catching prospect last year. The longer we wait to get someone, the worse we'll be sitting coming '26.

    I can see all 4 have a plus performance this year. I can also see Gallo, Gray & Mahle be offered QOs. If all 3 except fine if they reject also fine. I agree that Maeda won't be offered an QO, and if anyone would offer a good trade for him before the deadline they should take it.

    It's good to see Kiriloff & Lewis getting in some good swings. It's trying of my patience to see Buxton & Polanco taken so slowly. But I guess we have to trust the "plan". I'm excited about the pitching, the BP as well the rotation. I imagine that Ryan is still working out his new pitches.

    If people (including the Twins) put all their stock only in his bat then we won't have a chance at him. And I'd not be disappointed.

    I'd consider for both but for less. Considering Lee hasn't played a MLB game yet & Lewis's knees. While we're at it let's extend Lopez & Duran. For a guy that normally doesn't go for early extensions, I'm really going hog wild. But I think these guys are special.

    My top priority is catcher. I believe Wyatt Langford profiles better as a catcher, if his OF glove drags him down a little to 5th. I'd take him if he's willing to transition back to catcher. If we don't land him then Clark is fine with me, we aren't pressed at CF. He appears to me like a Royce Lewis type. So we can wait for him. Then I'd like focus on (catchers) Cole Carrigg or Kyle Teel in our next pick. I also like Skenes but I heard that he's easy to read. So he might have difficulty with MLB hitters.

    For some time now I've advocated to trade for a very good catching prospect because our cupboards are bare and I don't see Jeffers as very good catcher who I want to start on any frequency. Last year I advocated for Endy Rodriguez (PIT) who will debut this season, who we could have picked up cheap because they had the '21 #1 draft pick, catcher Henry Davis and he was behind him. Now Endy's talent is very well known and has become very expensive and has leaped frog over Davis. I have a new target, Edgar Quero, 19 yrs. (LAA) catcher, who was in A ball. Which were impressed with how he works with pitchers & how to call a game. He had a good CS ratio although he has slightly above average arm. Being only 19 his physical development is still going on where he can develop more arm strength & more power. Quero should start in High A ball this season and IMO could reach AAA by the end. In '24 I believe he could debut. Quero is just starting to be recognized. If we respond soon, we can still get him pretty reasonable. LAA has O'Hoppe who'll debut this year and is ranked very high as a catcher by all. We should come up with a trade that interests LAA to make this happen. What do you think?

    I don't think that a Kiriloff replacement will be long term. Gallo really looked good at 1B in ST so he's a good choice against RHPs and Miranda against LHPs (hope he can get some 3B in before 3/30). We have plenty of options and I believe Julien is destined there.

    As I stated before there is no doubt that Lewis can excel at CF, that's not the reason why I balk at the idea of him playing in the OF especially going forward. I don't care how good Lewis looks on paper, playing the OF, When he gets hurt playing the OF, he no good to us anywhere & you endanger a young's man career. Last year after Lewis got hurt, they brought up Miranda. Miranda got a lot of playing time & he didn't play a lick in CF. They could have put Lewis at 1B & he'd have been better than Miranda & Arraez, plus be able to give Polanco, Urshela & Correa much needed time off, to keep his bat in the line up.

    I expect Correa to be healthy, ready to take on the shift ban challenge, prove to teams that they missed out, show the Twins by example what it looks like to be a winner and to feel even more at home at Target Field. Add all things up, he'll have a great season both offensively & defensively.

    Thanks Nick, I was curious how fast Kepler could get back into his old groove, now with the shift ban. It didn't take long, Kepler has seemed to find it early ST. Wallner has a lot of raw talent, (speed, arm & power) that needs to be refined. Because Wallner is down on the pecking order in RF so I doubt Wallner will see much time in the MLB. Which gives him a lot of time to better his read on the ball and limit his SOs. I like what I saw from Wallner in ST, Wallner could have a good chance to start in RF next year if he works his but off. We have excellent depth in RF.

    I don't think we should count on injuries very soon in the season. With a regular season & being further remove from the covid season SPs will be healthy & stretched out. From the beginning, I've said that Maeda should be in long relief. Because of his long absence & his experience there. Maeda is having a good ST but Ober is much better. I'm a firm believer if a player is in competition in ST & plays well, he should be rewarded and be put on the active roster. Ober should be put on the active roster. A 6-man rotation will compromise the BP & most likely disrupt the rhythm of the SPs. So I'm against that. Maeda, Ober and possibly Mahle should be on a limited pitch count. So a long RP is needed to fill in, in a piggy-back situation or whatever. Ober should be experimented with to see if he can adapt to long relief ideally, otherwise it's Maeda. Ober said he wants to be on the roster together with the guys, no matter the capacity. Management needs to oblige him.

    This is the best CF depth we've had for a very long time, maybe ever. Last year we finally had an adequate back-up to Buxton with Gordon & Celestino, after suffering for years with Cave. A decent cOF does not equate into an adequate CF. Also I'd like to state that Gallo's DRS was accumulated practically all in cOF. Taylor is spectacular in CF, he's also having a good ST at the plate. Hoping that it carries over to the regular season. Hope is eternal so I hope Buxton can play plenty of CF while putting in the innings. Before Polanco was moved off SS, I thought CF would be Lewis's position. But after his ACL problem, I'm dead set against him playing anywhere in the OF. So anywhere I see anyone suggesting Lewis to play the OF, I will confront it. The way he was running so fast & jump high to catch that ball, he cringed in pain when he came down before he hit the wall. With so few cases of ACL to really account for, yet I saw a study that states that OFers are more apt to tear an ACL than INFers. Yeah maybe you can tell Lewis to not run fast & don't jump for fly balls, be a regular OFer. But for Lewis that'd be impossible and you'd lose any edge you may have had.

    I was thinking that also that Polanco could be given a break against LHPs. At the same time get an upgrade on offense. I'm hoping that Martin's elbow will be 100% so he would be available to be a RH bat in the OF. While Lewis will make Solano obsolete when he comes back. Go Twins! Can't wait until 3/30

    You beat me to it, Bodie, about Santana & Liriano. They both served as long relief & short. With Ober he should be fixed at long relief, ready to do some spot starting if need be. The Pineda/ Perez duo worked well and IMO a Maeda/ Ober duo could equally be great, benefitting both SPs. Of course Ober is accustomed to start, so coming in later might be hard for him to adjust. So I had suggested before he needs to be brought in later in the ST games to see how he does. Maeda can be brought in later but he gets bonuses for each game he starts. So we don't want him to be disgruntle. If you have a 6 man rotation you have 1 less for the BP, can disrupt the pitchers rhythm and does very little to relieve the stress on the BP. Maybe one SP might need an extra day of rest once in awhile but not all 6 on a regular basis. So I'm not in favor of a 6-man rotation.

    I also think Taylor will get his share of time in LF against LHPs if they want Buxton in CF. 2 yrs ago I suggested that they should bring Buxton up to play a kind of "rover" to keep him away from the wall, While having Kepler & Broxton manning the OF. I still think that could work with a combination of Taylor, Gallo & Kepler would be able to cover the OF while Buxton is at rover. I know my ideas are out of the box and you think I'm crazy (they sure did 2yrs. ago). But they are using this concept in trying to circumvent the shift ban. This concept could be adapted for each player & probably won't work on everybody. But IMO to be more dynamic you have to think outside the box. I believe we have the defense to do it.

    I was too, Karbo. I was very concerned about this new batting coach. When he 1st came on board with all his HR hitting team. I was afraid that with the moonshot mania from the organization nothing had changed especially with Sano, Sanchez and Jeffers slumps. But after reading an article in the Athletic on Popkin, I've changed my tune. Popkin doesn't push a certain HR approach but he tries to customize a swing that helps each hitter to barrel up on the ball. So I'm blaming Sano for his under production and I have more hope that Gallo & Kepler will hit this season.

    After Vasquez our depth takes a deep dive. Hopefully Jeffers hitting will come around but even so his arm & blocking leaves much to be desired. When framing is obsolete, so is Jeffers. We need Vazquez to catch at least 80% of the time for the next 3 yrs. And after that? Isola they want to transition to catcher but they don't focus him there. IMO Olivar can be a good catcher if they focus to develop him at catcher, especially his pop up time because his arm is above average. Noah Cardenas has a lot of potential on both side of the plate, (I don't care if his power hasn't blossomed yet or if it ever does.) But he's still a few years away. Same with Carlos Silva but he's even further away. Again I will say we desperately need a very good MLB catching prospect. Since we won't have one for e few years, we need to trade for one, now.

    It's great to see our Twins do so well in the WBC. Even with the great range of talent, WBC helps to grow baseball around the world. We should extend Lopez as soon as possible. De Leon could be a good BP arm.

    The #s and fWARs are all over the place. Is this how you personally ranked these independent of how they match up fWAR, Hans? Which is fine. I loved the rotations with Johan Santana and I personally rank them them the best. But looking at the fWAR our '19 was the best & I kinda believe it. IMO they should have been better but like so many times in recent years our BP blew up which caused Gibson (suffering from colitis) & Perez (converted SP) to be over stretched along with Berrios & Odorizzi who ran out of gas together with Pineda's suspension. IMO '20 should be thrown out because of the shorten season because it give us the wrong fWAR readings, comparing to what a regular season should be. Comparing '23 to '19 they are very similar where we really don't have an ace but we have 5 very good SPs. But where I'd place the '23 rotation ahead of the '19 is our '23 rotation is deeper & the BP is better. P.S.- I see you basically ranked them on how they measured to other MLB rotations but again your rankings don't completely ring true to the placings.

    Last year they over played players when they were really hurt and they rushed players into the line-up only for them to make a u-turn back to the IL. Using a little caution is a breath of air, especially w/ the depth we have. IMO it'll pay big dividends.

    Like T&R said we have Lopez, Ryan, Ober & Paddack coming back in '24. I'm counting too much on Paddack coming back from his 2nd TJ (hoping for something in '25). So I'd like to extend Mahle, IMO he was used too intensively at OAK and suffered from a dead arm. I'd like our chances of him bouncing back with a little rest. The best time to do this is now & take advantage of his 2nd half disappointment, otherwise he'll be more expensive. Gray will be expensive any time and he'll want to test free agency (not because he doesn't like it here). I see us offering him an QA & him turning it down depending on how he sees his chances w/ a QA hanging over him. Maeda, I don't want to extend him because he has the stuff but not the arm and he's over-hyped. I think we should trade him at the deadline. IMO we should extend Lopez now before he really takes off.
