  1. Yeah, they are just hurting themselves. IMO you are right that these 2 pitchers are trying to sell high on their good year w/o a lot to back it up with any consistency & teams aren't buying it. A lot of teams are hurting & those who aren't, already have their SPs.
  2. Moving Lewis (potentially our future SS now) to 1B is a waste of talent & we are of need of good INF talent
  3. I was hoping to watch that video & glean something from how good Conger is as a catching coach. I learned absolutely nothing. Conger was the straight man for Domingo Ayala's comical portrayal of how good he is. Conger might be a fun guy in the clubhouse but how much is he able to develop our catchers defensively? I'd rather our catching coach focus on solely on catching with drafting & developing defensive catchers & not be distracted with 1B. IMO Twins aren't concerned about our catching defense & is more concerned about our defense at 1B. There needs to be a big change concerning this.
  4. IMO this year is Ober's defining year. Will he pass Ryan as MN's #2? IMO Ober will take a step forward but will he or Ryan take a big enough step to shine in the postseason is yet to be seen. I don't care actually how many innings they're able to pitch or even great they are during the season, I do care that they'll pitch at the top of their game to become that SP we need coming postseason along side Lopez.
  5. Let me understand, you want to trade away another quality INFer, one that has all-star potential & switch hitter for another cOFer bat to platoon w/ Wallner. Call up FO they'd go for it but sorry Doc, I don't.
  6. Unlike the Twins (who prioritize hitting), most serious teams prioritize defense at catcher. If Jeffers can maintain average defense, it's a step in the right direction and the Jeffers/ Vazquez tandem ranking would be higher. Our catching prospects depth are not ranked because of lack of defense development. I hate to see what condition our catching will be when Vazquez leaves or gets hurt for any substantial amount of time.
  7. Daniel Duarte seems like the pitcher that the Twins take & make something out of, that's what the Twins do. But the FO isn't being our savior by putting together this BP to help us win the division, we'd have won it anyway. And this BP isn't going to help us advance in the postseason, that's why we needed a postseason SP, who they failed to pick up. This BP hype is to distract us from our losses, Gray, Maeda & Polanco.
  8. I still have confidence in the core. Larnach, Miranda, Vazquez & Alcala are encouraging. Hopefully, soon they get past the experimenting & into cooking.
  9. It seems like there are few pitchers that have unfortunate names, Blewett is one of them. They should change their names. If he hadn't lost the game I'd probably not notice it.
  10. I was one of the few that didn't want to give him away. It took him longer than I expected but he came back stronger than I expected.
  11. As long as he's not striking out I'm encouraged. He has the power potential that should return in time. We need a strong RH bat to platoon at 1B/DH he could be it. Also, there are teams like MIA that'd like some offense at those positions.
  12. Varland, deserves to be the 5th SP. But my guess the Twins will start with 4 SPs for the 1st month & then make the decision on Desclafani. Any chance he can pitch he'll pitch.
  13. That was my thoughts also, Besides not having total trust in Santana, we need to look at the future & to raise Kiriloff's stock, stuck at DH won't do it. Kiriloff being rusty needs a lot of time at 1B that he won't get. In the long run signing Satana was a mistake. When Kiriloff & Miranda proves themselves there's a market for their services, MIA being one.
  14. We made off pretty well on the deal. But we could have done better. Maeda was disgruntled with LAD and they wanted to unload him. I was all in on Maeda but I was against trading Graterol & I advocated trading our #2 Balazovik plus another big bat.
  15. He can't help what directly or indirectly happened in '22 that affected '23.
  16. Congratulations! @jharaldson@Cory Engelhardt@chpettit19 @Supfin99
  17. I love Lewis, but no one excites me like Buck running the bases or after a fly ball. Pray he puts in the games this year. For years Cave was our CF sub, he was terrible yet no one seemed to care. This offseason we had Castro, Gordon & Martin IMO ready to sub Buck each many times better than Cave. With very little competition in the Central, I saw no need to trade for Margot. I'd like to have another look at Larnach on the MLB level before making a decision on him. Before calling up Martin. In '22 they should have shut Buxton down right away & fixed him instead of playing him hurt, Much what they did with Polanco compromising their health. Now with Paparesta policing, I feel much better about the team's health. Coming postseason my hope is everyone is healthy.
  18. I like Kepler, & I hope he has a great season. After '19 pitchers adjusted to the HR mentality which produced more FOs & SOs, '20-'23, Kepler had a tough time readjusting. '23 Kepler decided to totally commit to the moonshot philosophy with great results. The pitchers will adjust, Twins are banking they won't. Hope I'm wrong.
  19. Seems like the Twins don't care about defense unless it's 1B, go figure. Kiriloff needs more time at 1B to get better which he won't get. We need Kiriloff's bat in the lineup as much as possible once he gets rolling, limit his time at 1B during ST isn't going to do it. IMO it's poor judgement on the Twins.
  20. You might have something there, Elliot. With less importance put on defense & Ks are sexier than pitch-to-contact. Teams trended away from it. I'm also interested on what the stats show
  21. Had all those cards growing up plus they had pitching & hitting leaders which all 3 were on. But like I've said before, after I left home & came back all my late 50s, 60s & early '70s cards were gone. I had all the big names.
  22. This off-season we had only 1 primary need & that was another postseason SP. IMO Snell & Montgomery weren't the answer even if we had another 30MM lying around. IMO Luzardo was our best bet via trade. But the Twins opt-out on quality that we needed for quantity we didn't need. You might say we still have the deadline. IMO deadline trades are more expensive & with more unknowns & our history isn't that great. BAL will be a force to deal with and unlike the Twins, SEA revamped & filled their main holes which IMO is a better team. HOU is still a force to deal with, NYY fired their hitting coach & hired Rowson, if the Yanks abandon their hitting philosophy & let Rowson work individually with his hitters plus the addition of Soto NYY offense will be awesome. But if Cole is out they are beatable. We have a great core that could dominate for years but we are missing a couple of major pieces.
  23. I'd love the Twins to get off the HR bandwagon & teach their players how to hit & not strike out. Then Wallner will really shine w/o regression. I have lot of faith that Martin will shine once he's called up. Castro had a great ST last year, (but would have been passed over if not for injuries) and is still doing well as a switch hitter he'll be valuable.
  24. Miranda had the best chance until they signed Santana, although his 3B days should be behind him. But now his only hope is that Santana gets hurt because they'll stick with Santana even when he falters. Kiriloff is a great hitter, we need his bat in the lineup and hope his injuries are behind him. I'm rooting for Alcala. Right now injuries isn't Larnach's biggest problem, it's the curve. Once he figures it out he'll have to wait if Wallner or Kepler falters.
  25. Nick, you mentioned Canterino as a long-relief candidate. Do you believe he's ready to come up on the opening roster? Maybe bring 2 long relief pitchers to start with. After a couple of short starts at AAA bring up Varland to fill the #5 spot to start Apr.8.
