  1. If you look at the trade face value, IMO we lost the trade. We seriously weakened our catching & SS positions by trading away IKF, Garver & Rortvedt. After they traded away IKF they sought after Story. Luckily that didn't happen and Correa fell into our laps but that's a side issue that granted most likely would not have happened w/o trading away Donaldson. If Correa hadn't fell into our laps indepently, we would have been in a very very sorry situation.
  2. Twins need to heat things up against the Yanks. Polanco is a good start but we need everyone. In this cold I don't think the Yanks will need much resin. Revenge time.
  3. Thanks Ted for a great report & for leaving the boxscores. Great day for the organization, they all played good games. Only a couple of heart breakers but they played hard. I'm getting excited about Kiriloff, he should make an impact soon when he comes up. Miller was in the tough Florida league & was over shadowed by E Rod last season but his bat is shining, along with his glove this season, his value will rise. Helman is ready to leave A ball.
  4. Polanco is back! Like what was said he looked really good from the right side which surprised me. Nice to see Ober back up here where he belongs, congrats on a good game. Taylor is also a nice surprise, keep it up. Step up your game the rest of you, for the Yanks. Go Twins!
  5. This is a terrible start from a terrible series at BOS. The league has been beating up on these guys & we look pathetic. Have to admit that Mahle was good & was good to have Polanco back but the loss spoiled that. Ober was left back in AAA again must be very frustrating. I'm all in for giving SWR a break, but Ober has the experience. I believe we can be more competitive with Ober.
  6. You can't teach an old dog new tricks. Julien has stolen some bases in the minors but he hasn't been sent in the MLB. I agree with the assessment here with Buxton, Polanco & Correa not worth the risk. Taylor can steal more, Wallner is fast but he doesn't have the instinct. We have some young ones coming besides Julien with Lewis, Martin & Lee that can steal a base to name a few. I heard that 70% was the break-off point of effeciency to steal a base. Hope in the near future the coaches have the guts to send the runners when the conditions is right. Maybe they use their analytics to find out which pitchers & catchers to run on & exploit it. Because stolen bases can goof up the pitchers & provoke mistakes.
  7. I asked that question about Cossetti & still haven't got an answer. Kiriloff looks good to me, we could use his LH bat.
  8. Completely agree with you that C, SS, CF and to some extent 2B now with the shift ban are premium positions. Where glove takes priority over bat. We have been blessed with 2 very good CFers and Taylor has been solid hitting. I won't evaluate every player but as a whole and especially where hitting needs to be more prevalent are not holding up their end (like you stated). But by removing Buxton from DH & put him in CF will help anything? you ask, I think yes. It has been discussed here at TD, that Buxton at DH isn't hitting his weight there. That Buxton to many, will do much better hitting playing CF because he likes to be engaged in the game therefore he's more productive. At DH he's not engaged, he steps up to the plate, he quite often SOs then goes sit down for about 30 mins. goes up & repeat. Playing CF he can become more engaged, then he's more productive, which fires up the other players etc. Removing Buxton from DH also frees up another RH bat to plug into a line up. Grant that Buxton's health is important and needs to be factored into the equation before he's liberated from DH.
  9. I have to say this has been the most disappointing series so far. How Boston had been playing, I was expecting a sweep. Pagan has to climax that disappointment. Hoping that he could handle the low leverage role but when things don't go right for him he completely loses it. He has been given long enough rope to hang himself (figuratively speaking). What good is having the stuff without harnessing himself? Although he has worn out his welcome to maybe most fans, FO will keep him. Moran probably needs more seasoning in AAA, Alcala I don't know what we can do. Hats off to Castro for his 1st Twins HR.
  10. I think that's a very good point & could very well be true. IMO it's difficult for Buck to DH & produce especially on a long term basis. He's a player that wants to be engaged in the game much as possible. Therefore management needs to rethink their strategy because of this and because we could be better off if we use a different DH in some instances.
  11. Thanks Seth again for your minor league run down. Cossetti & Olivar makes for a very interesting catching duo. I'm glad they are adapting well to pitcher dominate Florida A league. When Olivar starts at C, Cossetti can play 1B/DH and when Cossetti starts at C, Olivar can play anywhere in the OF. I know Olivar needs some improvement in his raw defensive skills. Where is Cossetti defensively?
  12. It's great to see our offense back in sync after being broken by the Germa'n incident. Ryan pitched a very good game and congratulations to Headrick on his debut & Baldelli for figuring out how to use long relief, hopefully he won't relapse again. But I expect him to.
  13. Gallo-> Garlic Polanco-> Julien Farmer-> Castro Kiriloff-> Larnach because he still has an option & has been slumping Lewis-> ? Gordon didn't have a future playing playing INF coming up. They switched him to the OF & he blossomed both def. & off. Now they want to return him to the INF which he returned to his old self. They should keep him in the OF & see if he can shake it off. I'd keep him as long as possible for OF sake. Kepler nobody wanted to give anything for him this off season. He had a good ST, I was hoping he'd continue it into the season (he did not). I still hope he can turn it around so we can get someone worth something. He'll be gone one way or another, sooner or later. Gallo he could hit a bunch of HRs & RBIs and has shown his flexibilty at the corners, plus he still has some hype. But can he get a hit when we need it? or will he SO? Despite any of this, he's not going anywhere because Levine & Tingler are in love with him. Farmer & Solano are steady, flexible and are needed in some kind of role. IMO Lewis, Polanco or Kiriloff shouldn't be rushed up until they are tearing up AAA. Plus any injury would delay these decisions.
  14. Maeda being fatigued is to be expected so putting Maeda in the BP as long relief made even more sense. Especially when Ober was having a great ST. A competent long RP was desperately needed last nite.
  15. That's what I've been advocating for years. We not only lost the game by running thru our top BP arms, leaving only our low leverage arms. But we also short changed ourselves in the BP in our up coming games. Having a competent long RP could have saved the game & the BP. A very disappointing game, offensively, defensively & (managetorially). I was waiting for the Twins to jump all over Sales (never happened). Although Gray threw a lot of extra pitches he was able to limit any damage, Kepler HR & Miranda's DP were bright spots. Too bad it was for nought.
  16. Noah Miller has been impressive, When Brooks Lee gets promoted to AAA, IMO Miller should take his place AA. Polanco may be ready health wise but his hitting has been disappointing. He may needs a little bit more time to get his feel back. It's understandable that Ober had a couple of bad starts after the emotional let down of being sent down after a great ST. Ober has yet missed a turn or had any injury problems. Ober will be a great asset when he gets recalled.
  17. I really hope he gets "Come back player of the Year". I'm not really concerned about how many HRs or RBIs he may accummulates but more so to get a hit when we really need one & not SO.
  18. Trevor Plouloffe is going to Bally
  19. Larnach didn't make the list, seems like he's been around for awhile. Miranda almost didn't make the list because he was left unprotected along with Baddoo, Baddoo was taken and Miranda was not. A pretty young team and next year it could very well be even younger.
  20. Nice reminder Nick of the depth we have & soon to have. It pained me to see Ober not staying with the club after a great ST. But we know if something happens Ober will step in admireably. As much as it's hard to wait for Polanco & Kiriloff it'll be well worth the wait. As with Lewis in June, it's comforting to know that Lewis doesn't have to be rushed but yet if he's tearing it up in AAA right away. It'll be challenging in what to do with Solano. As well as with Lee, there is no hurry to bring him up this year. But if he's tearing it up at AAA this Sept. and we have a great shot in the post season, a switch hitting INFer would be very nice. IMO Paddack won't have any impact on the Twins this year. I see him in only the minors working to come back from his 2nd TJ if at all. Like Tarheels said next season will be very interesting w/ all the potential impact players ready to emerge.
  21. I don't think we disagree, just maybe misunderstand. I never said that it wasn't a fair trade. Maybe you think that LAD wouldn't accept a different offer, that's where we may differ. P.S.- this FO has been very tight lip about most things, which drives me crazy sometimes. Here with the idea of moving Graterol to the BP & broadcasting it served no purpose. On this occasion they should have kept their trap shut.
  22. I stand corrected on Maeda's usage and I never said that LAD would give Maeda away (I was going write this in my previous post, I regret not doing so). My suggestion would to offer an equal value trade that'd include a different SP + power bat prospects or 2 different SP prospects, instead of Graterol. Which would be more benefical to the Twins & LAD might agree upon (because of their situation). That's the point I was making.
  23. When a player requests to be traded publicly on youtube because he doesn't like how he's been used primarily as a RP. The team then is motivated to sell and they were shopping him. The Twins weren't motivated to trade their top pitching prospect Graterol. It was getting late into the ST. This is an assumption based on info that's out there.
  24. Normally I like to throw out '20 season but you can't throw out that Maeda helped us a lot to win the American Central Division. He really didn't do anything for us '21 0r '22. '23 will help a lot to determine his contributions to this team. Carmargo isn't any value to us unless he learns catching, which they don't seem to want to concentrate him there. Graterol has vacilated between good to very good this last 3 years and will continue to help LAD in the BP in years to come. Luke Raley was traded for Tanner Dodson a decent RP prospect. But IMO in LAD eyes they won the trade. Because they wanted to unload a disgruntle Maeda and Graterol was more than what they were willing to receive in trade. They'd have settle for less.
  25. I was thinking the same thing, that's why I put FO & Co.. I think Joe has some imput and also I think Correa has FO's ears. Because this move isn't in character of this FO.
