  1. Did you consider playoff experience? Lopez, Ober and Ryan have a combined total of 5 innings. (all Lopez, of course) Gray has 21 innings, and 2 of 3 appearances were decent. Just for fun, I checked Maeda. After all, he pitched for the Dodgers. 37 innings! One other thing, there are no guarantees. Orioles, Braves, Rays, Dodgers. They can't all win the WS. Might be none of them. If the Twins look completely hopeless at the trade deadline, sure, then consider offers for Gray. Honestly, I just want the Twins to break the post season curse. They have a better chance with Sonny Gray in their arsenal.
  2. The Twins only shot at the post season is by winning the division. In that event, they are gifted a best of 3 all played at Target Field. I'm under no illusions; they are flawed. But the return of Lewis and Polanco will make a significant difference to the lineup. When that playoff format was instituted, it was an eyebrow raiser for me. But don't look a gift horse in the mouth, and keep Sonny Gray .
  3. The Plouffe/Kirilloff home run call and acknowledgement was fun....
  4. Yeah. Or even more than a crisply played 2-0 loss, like the Guardians yesterday. Hopefully Minn. completes the sweep today, sloppily or otherwise. Seattle will be a better indicator of where we stand.
  5. That occurred to me too. Supposedly he was Miguel Sano's mentor, and how'd that turn out? (although in this case it might be more on the pupil than the teacher). Also, has Cruz hung up his cleats? Maybe he wants one more kick at the can.
  6. These reclamation projects usually fail. Might as well give it a shot, though. Might be the next Oil Can Boyd (see Expos)
  7. Pablo and Arraez both trending under 4 now. Good one!😀 Wish I'd thought of it....
  8. That's it? It was an unparalleled pitching masterpiece. He was brilliant!!
  9. Having Michael Taylor in CF and Buxton at DH is a patchwork solution. It's the type of alignment, I think, that can work well temporarily. For half a season, it's been a huge handicap. It's like being down 2-0 before the game even starts. A players only meeting is not going to bestow perfect health on Buxton, or provide flexibility at DH. I have nothing at all against Taylor. He has some surprising pop, and provides speed and defence, but he's not a full time player. Correa leading off is, like, whatever. Shuffling the lineup is smoke and mirrors. Unfortunately, the Buxton situation and its domino effect continues to steer the ship. So what's the solution, or is there one?
  10. On the lighter side.... I can guarantee with ABSOLUTE CERTAINTY that Correa will not hit into a DP in his first AB (see lineup) No such claim will be made regarding subsequent at bats.
  11. Not as confident as you are, but I'll be thrilled if you're right.
  12. I've wondered for a while if his wrist really is OK. Drop off in power is reminiscent of last year.
  13. Ok, the Kepler bashing is getting old. I wanna see a response from Gleeman😀
  14. Yeah, it was strange. His self confidence may be non existent at this point. Pity. He was supposed to be such an integral piece. He ain't no Sonny Gray (bulldog quotient). That said, you never know, maybe he'll get it together.
  15. I'm guessing that was meant as a "pithy" comment. But let's just say if Kepler needs to make any decisions, I would imagine he'd be capable of deciding for himself what he wants to do, and where he wants to do it.
  16. Interesting article. It was the bomba squad season that skewed my evaluation of Kepler. At the time, I thought great, he's ready to take the next step. And I was right! He took the next step backward.
  17. Michael Taylor now has as many hrs. as Vlad Guerrero, and Vladdy has yet to hit one at the Rogers Centre this year!
  18. Agreed. The lineup always feels more solid with Polanco in it. More depth.
  19. Yeah, I think so too. He's certainly due, and Rocco keeps putting him in the lineup. Also, I'd love to see Lopez have a really dominant start. (lots of other things to wish for, but I'll leave it at that)
  20. 3-0 Twins. Top of the 3rd. Yessir, the randomness of baseball. Who woulda thunk it😀
  21. Speaking for tonight only, at least they can provide some defense. The same cannot be said for tonight's infield.
  22. Good question. Maybe Correa's insane off season has taken a toll. Who knows. Meanwhile, his protege, Royce Lewis, just exudes confidence and energy. As an aside, what about Buxton? Surely he's hurt... the lack of production is hard to believe. Well, hope springs eternal. Taking the rubber match vs the Astros tonight would be a good start.
