  1. Yes, I 'd prefer Pohlad hadn't said that. Oh, well. If you listen to broadcasters from different cities on both sides of a trade, rationalization and different spin on the same player runs rampant. As you can imagine, here in Toronto Jeff Hoffman is a lightning rod for controversy. Let's hope he becomes the Twins next Louis Varland. (tongue firmly implanted in cheek) Want to mention, I did not particularly want Arraez back. The Twins need all the defense they can get. How much can his fielding have improved all of a sudden after all these years? I'm a bit skeptical. That said, an offensive spark can't happen soon enough. Last night was sad. I think maybe they were trying a little too hard. The Royals are loose, and they have the big guy back. Let's see what happens tonight.
  2. Additionally, although many think that not trading key contributors is foolish (Jeffers, Larnach, etc) it's also symbolic of a proactive approach. As for offensive reinforcement, it seems like a no brainer Jenkins will be called up shortly.
  3. For all I know, Dean Kremer will be a complete washout. But he 's a starting pitcher, and I believe that the move was better than no move at all. Time will tell.
  4. Tempers expectations, I guess . But there could be a domino effect. You never know. The Twins do need starting pitching depth, You have to wonder about Ryan. Maybe the plan is to reduce his workload for a period of time. Kremer has been injured, and horrendous this year when active. But he has a track record.. Worth a shot, and I do sense that there's more to come.
  5. I'm in the eastern time zone, and replayed the game in its entirety this morning. You could feel the momentum swing as the game wore on.. The team appears to be in a really good space right now. Dramatic walk offs, and acquisitions with perhaps more to come can do that , I guess.. Keep it going, guys!
  6. I'd never even heard of an ultimate grand slam. But ultimately, it was a lot of fun learning about it. So we've done 49-49, 54-54, 55-55 time to break on through to the other side.
  7. I don't disagree. Who knows, maybe they're going to bring him up after the deadline, for reasons we don't know about. Smoke might clear within a week.
  8. Seriously. Sometimes these things take on a life of their own. Hype, over hype. There is usually a learning curve. (Jackson Holliday, for example) That said, agree that the Gray move is a head scratcher. I'm going to give the Twins the benefit of the doubt here (God knows why). This "move" is still a work in progress. To be clear, I'm not knocking Walker Jenkins. Hope his debut comes sooner rather than later.
  9. Yup. Great call by Provus. Not contrived. Totally genuine. What a moment!
  10. Me too! I'm curious to see if having to pivot on the fly yesterday, and Rojas coming through big time provides a spark, and some much needed offence.
  11. 4 of 5 would put them at .500 again before facing the Mariners. Whatever; it's a moot point. Pretenders indeed.
  12. Duly reported to the department of redundancy department. Also, it's Caratini; not Carantini. Enough of that. Let's go for the split this aft!
  13. Ryan's last outing was extraordinary, and not in a good way. Wonder if there is anything going on...
  14. The last few weeks, it's been more about being buyers or sellers generally. Sadly now, with these lacklustre losses, the answer is becoming clear.
  15. I love Tom Hamilton, but at one point last night he referred to Jenkins as Walter Jenkins. Mr. Hamilton, you are one of my favorite broadcasters, however for that faux pas, I'm gonna have to deduct 2 points from your wins above replacement. (Ok folks, you didn't expect me to talk about the actual game , did you?)
  16. I'd call them legitimate pretenders, and to be honest, I'm fine with that.
  17. Rehashing the Twins ineptitude vs the Yanks is getting old. (admittedly it's epic) Zebby Matthews has been pitching really well of late, AND he goes deep into games. Very significant, for reasons that need not be stated. My $$$'s on the Twinkies this aft. As a Canadian , I think it's more likely than Canada beating Morocco on the pitch.
  18. Freudian slip...runs given up by this bullpen shouldn't count. Slight digression, but Varland is killing it with the Jays. Still baffled by that trade deadline move.
