    What a season it's been! 7-13, followed by 17-3, then averaging one third of a run per game in the Yankee 3 game set. Staggering swings of the pendulum. It's remarkable how perception can change. 4 and a half months to go, 2 and a half out of first, and currently a wild card. Sheesh! and the season's only 25% done. Enjoy the ride. (hurry back, Buxton, Lewis and Stewart)

    Yeah, roof will be closed. As you can see from Parfigliano's pic, it's overcast here in To. and 15C (59F) I think it'll be another high scoring game. Yesterday could be viewed as a reality check. 16-2 going in, and off to a 7-1 lead, knocking out a good pitcher after 3. Wow, what a buzz saw! How could you not think that? Probably applies to at least some of the players too. So maybe yesterday's gut punch will be helpful in the long run., because as we all know, baseball can be very humbling.

    Yes. His struggles have been epic. I have visions of a line similar to Gausman's today. We shall see. In any case, it should be an intriguing rubber match. Go Twins!

    And it wouldn't be the first time. (I'm referring to an article written a few years ago where another TD writer seemed to single out Kepler). I really don't get it.

    Jason deGrom won consecutive Cy Young awards with the Mets in 2018/19. His win totals? 10 and 11. When openers are used, it is pre determined that they cannot get the win , no matter what they do. I see your point. SWR "deserved" the win. But the game has changed, and wins are just not that relevant of a stat any more. I suspect this is bothering you more than SWR.

    Yeah..in seasons like this I tend to become a citizen of the baseball world at large. Does that make me a bandwagon jumper? I hope not. But things sure are looking bleak. I do a double take when I see the lineup. Still blame ownership for this mess. But dammit, can't give up on a season 18 games in.

    Agreed. But the biggest debacle of all was ownership cutting payroll. What a shame.

    Pas de probleme ! It is a pretty vibrant city. For what it's worth, I'm a Montreal native, but long time Toronto resident.

    Toronto is Toronto. I've never heard anyone here refer to us as the New York of Canada. True, there is ethnic diversity now, though this was not always the case. As Karbo stated, the competitive differences of the the AL East and Central have been a huge factor in the 2 teams fortunes. Balancing out the schedule somewhat was a good move. More could be done there, like division realignment. For Twins fans, the Central has been a gift horse. Jays fans don't have that luxury, though playing more frequently against a higher level of competition gets the juices flowing. A consolation, or rationale...whatever.

    I agree. It depends how things play out in the first half, and for other teams as well. Dylan Cease, anyone?

    Agree with MLR. 32 sleeps til opening day. The Twins, as they're currently constructed, are intriguing. I plan to sit back and take it in.

    HOF is out of reach for Buxton. Perhaps he can win the MVP that Beltre never did.

    It'll be interesting to see what 2024 holds for Manoah. He really was a mess last year. Performance, attitude and mental fortitude. For all I know, he'll win the Cy Young, but I highly doubt it. Unless it's a bargain basement scenario, the front office should stay away.

    Yes. I feel the Twins biggest need is a front line starter. A legit complement to Lopez would make a huge difference to their fortunes. Still too many financial unknowns, but I have a sense that it likely will happen sometime during the 2024 season.
