    It is astounding that the Twins somehow still have a 2.5 game cushion for the 3rd wild card spot! Whether there is justification for this is not really relevant. The standings don't lie. I would never "hope" that my favourite team misses the playoffs, even if it's a quick exit. I watched the condensed version (mlb TV) of the Mariners/Rangers game last night. Crisply played. I have a sense that Seattle will sneak in to the post season. Of course, I still want to see the Twins make it; worthy or not. So, go team!

    The final two weeks of the regular season are going to be very intriguing and very exciting. It sure beats being out of the playoff picture!

    Nah. It's indefensible. Rocco appeared to be obsessively making moves. I don't think he should have pulled Julien for Castro either, even though Lynch is a southpaw. The Ober thing was just unfathomable. They've got to be a dispirited bunch. Anyone care to predict the outcome of today's game?

    Could he have played centre field, though? Buxton has to do more than walk off a stage. Age is not relevant.

    Yeah, me too. I like this new "live for today" philosophy. At this point, they just need to rack up the wins where they can find them. Who knows, maybe Festa will throw 7 innings, or the offence will put up a few crooked numbers early. In any case, yesterday is in the books as a W.

    I agree with you. It's rather vague, and subjective. What is the time frame for the "trends"? Pablo is on a 20 plus scoreless inning streak, yet is rated medium impact, along with Matthews (!), as well as SWR and Festa. Huh? The layout is a tad cumbersome, too. I think it should be ditched. G|ive me the concise bullpen usage chart any day. Now that I like!

    Nope. Not unless they're fighting for a playoff spot in the final game of the season. He was great last night. I was unable to watch live, as mlbTV blacks out all Jays games for me, so I was listening to radio broadcasts, I had to laugh when Duran came in for the 9th, and Atteberry said " he'll be facing the heart of the lineup". I'm thinking, what heart?... we're talking Guerrero , period. Despite the Jays lineup, it was a dominant outing for Lopez.

    Maybe, but in terms of injuries plus not preparing for them (which requires spending), the Twins stand alone.

    I hadn't heard. That's very significant for K.C and the Twins. This pun is not really intended, but it's a bit of a break for Minnesota. Slightly less protection for Junior. Hmmm, though there is Salvy. My response was really intended to be about your comments. Thanks for the rational post. Much appreciated.

    Possibly not quite as bad as it looks to me (maybe), but currently the Twins are behind the 8 ball before the games even start. There are just too many leaks to plug right now. Not Rocco's fault. Not Falvey and Levine's fault. That leaves ownership. Anyway, go Twins go.

    How about Audra as a TWP. She'd give Ohtani a run for his money! Have to say, she did a fine job singing. Who knew.

    I'm glad you did, because it's true. No safety net in the system in case of injury, and now they may have to pay the price. Ryan's early exit is the perfect case in point. In other news, the Guardians might be in the process of dropping 2 to the D'backs...

    Yes, he should. He's earned it. Of course, he would have to, regardless. The rotation wasn't fortified with options.

    I'll be watching the Twins energy level post deadline. For this fan, the lack of activity was deflating, even if it was expected. I'm hoping the guys can just forge ahead. We shall see.

    Here's what Nate said in this article: "To their credit, the Twins have never been a team to make irrational, knee-jerk reactions. With the trade deadline looming, the front office may use Woods-Richardson's rough start and the bullpen's rough performance as motivation to strike a deal before time runs out. " I think both Nate and the poster in this thread were just musing. Other contenders are making moves. I sure hope the Twins do too. Complacency could be lethal.
