  1. Jason deGrom won consecutive Cy Young awards with the Mets in 2018/19. His win totals? 10 and 11. When openers are used, it is pre determined that they cannot get the win , no matter what they do. I see your point. SWR "deserved" the win. But the game has changed, and wins are just not that relevant of a stat any more. I suspect this is bothering you more than SWR.
  2. Yeah..in seasons like this I tend to become a citizen of the baseball world at large. Does that make me a bandwagon jumper? I hope not. But things sure are looking bleak. I do a double take when I see the lineup. Still blame ownership for this mess. But dammit, can't give up on a season 18 games in.
  3. Yikes! Major injuries get more pervasive every year, or so it seems.
  4. Agreed. But the biggest debacle of all was ownership cutting payroll. What a shame.
  5. Man, you've got to be impressed by his attitude. Checking for updates. Here's hoping for the best possible outcome. What an asset he is.
  6. Pas de probleme ! It is a pretty vibrant city. For what it's worth, I'm a Montreal native, but long time Toronto resident.
  7. Toronto is Toronto. I've never heard anyone here refer to us as the New York of Canada. True, there is ethnic diversity now, though this was not always the case. As Karbo stated, the competitive differences of the the AL East and Central have been a huge factor in the 2 teams fortunes. Balancing out the schedule somewhat was a good move. More could be done there, like division realignment. For Twins fans, the Central has been a gift horse. Jays fans don't have that luxury, though playing more frequently against a higher level of competition gets the juices flowing. A consolation, or rationale...whatever.
  8. A veritable infusion of variations on stupidity😀
  9. I agree. It depends how things play out in the first half, and for other teams as well. Dylan Cease, anyone?
  10. Agree with MLR. 32 sleeps til opening day. The Twins, as they're currently constructed, are intriguing. I plan to sit back and take it in.
  11. HOF is out of reach for Buxton. Perhaps he can win the MVP that Beltre never did.
  12. Reminiscent of last years Donovan Leitch vs Donovan Solano🙂
  13. It'll be interesting to see what 2024 holds for Manoah. He really was a mess last year. Performance, attitude and mental fortitude. For all I know, he'll win the Cy Young, but I highly doubt it. Unless it's a bargain basement scenario, the front office should stay away.
  14. Yes. I feel the Twins biggest need is a front line starter. A legit complement to Lopez would make a huge difference to their fortunes. Still too many financial unknowns, but I have a sense that it likely will happen sometime during the 2024 season.
  15. I have to admit, I don't even remember him, but what a fascinating baseball journey. Sorry to hear his life's journey was cut short. Thanks for the write up, Seth.
  16. Yes, but mental with a large dose of attitudinal. I live in Toronto, so I guess my exposure to Blue Jays talk radio plays a part in my opinion. His rise was really fast; his fall even faster. I just have the sense that acquiring him would be a mistake.
  17. Manoah went from an elite talent to an absolute trainwreck , literally from opening day in 2023. I wouldn't give up much for him, and frankly, I wouldn't even want him on the Twins.
  18. Enjoyed your post, and agree with most of it. I,too would cast a vote for Provus. Also quite fond of Suzyn Waldman (3 cheers for septuagenarians)! How about Tom Hamilton? His call of the Jose Ramirez/Tim Anderson dustup was priceless... One thing you said puzzled me. If Morneau is a bit verbose at times, I find Jessica Mendoza an absolute motormouth; almost unlistenable. Oh well, chacun a son gout. BTW.. You were great in the new Beatles "Now and Then " video. Good job😊
  19. I've only been watching the Twins the last 3 or 4 years on MLB TV. Bremer certainly has a very good broadcaster's voice. I was somewhat surprised at the news. Hope it's not health related. I, too, would support Cory Provus in the role. Maybe Trevor Plouffe can be in the mix. He provided some good energy.
