    Correa, Lewis and Lopez; for sure. After that, many possibilities. I'd have considered Duran and Buxton for that list.

    I have to admit, I was dreading this game. Felt much more comfortable watching Skubals vs Guardians. Well, shame on me. Important, inspiring, impressive...Twins Win! Twins Win!

    As is always the case, injuries (or lack thereof) will be key. I'm particularly concerned about Correa, as plantar fasciitis is frustratingly persistent, and subject to recurrence. Unfortunately, "less severe" feels as much like wishful thinking, as it does a diagnosis, That said, will hope for as good an outcome as possible. Post break should be very compelling and exciting, keeping tabs on all the contending teams on a daily basis. So buckle up!

    Look on the bright side. If it hadn't been for your dreaded one run loss, Brooks Lee would have been robbed of the opportunity to learn from experience. Might prevent him from making another ill advised throw. Better now than in the playoffs!

    Good point. I googled. Correa had PF in his left heel! So that is potentially good news. Fingers crossed.

    As stated earlier, it really was a gutsy win! With so many guys banged up, it's a good time for the break. All I can say is: I sincerely hope "heel contusion" is not a euphemism for plantar fasciitis.

    So am I! But to be honest, last year I was worried. As far as the Mets and Giants (and their fans) if they are in "sour grapes" mode, it's probably, he must be cheating:)

    Here's my 2 cents. I have a certain amount of confidence in the Twins. The Yanks are a juggernaut ( right now, anyway), but I don't expect the Twins to be swept. Should that happen, it's not the end of the world. An infusion of Royce is going to energize the team. Note to the above poster. The Twins don't necessarily have to catch the Royals for a wild card spot. (see standings)

    And yet, they just lost 2 of 3 to the Rockies, one of the worst teams in either league. Let's revisit the standings in the dog days.

    Just isolating this particular play. I might be wrong, but I don't think Watkins sent him. If there was any communication , it was verbal. There was no windmilling. I think Vasquez went on his own. I couldn't believe it! The outcome was a foregone conclusion.

    What a season it's been! 7-13, followed by 17-3, then averaging one third of a run per game in the Yankee 3 game set. Staggering swings of the pendulum. It's remarkable how perception can change. 4 and a half months to go, 2 and a half out of first, and currently a wild card. Sheesh! and the season's only 25% done. Enjoy the ride. (hurry back, Buxton, Lewis and Stewart)

    Yeah, roof will be closed. As you can see from Parfigliano's pic, it's overcast here in To. and 15C (59F) I think it'll be another high scoring game. Yesterday could be viewed as a reality check. 16-2 going in, and off to a 7-1 lead, knocking out a good pitcher after 3. Wow, what a buzz saw! How could you not think that? Probably applies to at least some of the players too. So maybe yesterday's gut punch will be helpful in the long run., because as we all know, baseball can be very humbling.

    Yes. His struggles have been epic. I have visions of a line similar to Gausman's today. We shall see. In any case, it should be an intriguing rubber match. Go Twins!

    Jason deGrom won consecutive Cy Young awards with the Mets in 2018/19. His win totals? 10 and 11. When openers are used, it is pre determined that they cannot get the win , no matter what they do. I see your point. SWR "deserved" the win. But the game has changed, and wins are just not that relevant of a stat any more. I suspect this is bothering you more than SWR.

    Yeah..in seasons like this I tend to become a citizen of the baseball world at large. Does that make me a bandwagon jumper? I hope not. But things sure are looking bleak. I do a double take when I see the lineup. Still blame ownership for this mess. But dammit, can't give up on a season 18 games in.
