  1. While a 3-7 record is not ideal. I have seen over the years not to put too much stock over a short block of time. Sano with all of the strikeouts and no production maybe… but Buxton is back, Killeroff should be soon I hope. And some of these slumps will end. Just be patient. Urshala is hitting around.300, Sano has the power and would be on a 1 year contract next year, Correa could but should be gone with a good season. Sanchez seems to like it here and has hit ok so far and his defense has been passable. Without a replacement I could see the Twins signing him to a 1 or 2 year deal. Do I expect everyone back? No but there are scenarios for everyone to return. With that being said I also hope we see all three guys mentioned in the article at some point this season or multiple points…..
  2. So what happens if a player has an issue with the advertising company? I know I wouldn’t want to represent certain companies with a patch on my uniform. I mean your uniform is more personal to a player then a bill board. I wouldn’t want a patch from a company like Disney or any other activist company as I think that can be a distraction.
  3. Anaheim is pretty laid back here so i doubt a change of scenery will do too much. maybe just a different place. I do think i prefer Upton to our in house options right now. at least on a platoon basis with Arreaz.
  4. Arreaz at 5 is iffy i do like the concept of this year only rankings. But the tier groups mess up actual rankings
  5. Twins will go 91-70. They will have a rain out that doesn’t get made up because of the condensed schedule. I am bullish on their record cause while their pitchers have serious risks. I can see ways to minimize several of them and if I can so can the Twins. The pitching will be better then expected because of the potential and flexibility of our pitching being in new roles and succeeding.
  6. Reading on mlbtraderumors that Paddack lacks a good third pitch. Might he start in our pen first to work on third pitch? maybe adding a slider to go with his fastball and change?
  7. I am not a fan of trading Rogers. I was kinda hoping we extend him a few more seasons. will be interesting to see what the offers are for. if we can get something worthwhile maybe.
  8. he doesn't walk much. close to 1k per inning. last year had HR's in check vs the other 2 years. ut he is giving up more hits. Still it looks like he gave up runs in bunches looking at his whip and with pitching back to the mean his era should drop. if we just give up Larnarch for him that works for me.
  9. The leash was longer because the next 4 ranked options were all injured at the time we wanted to replace Shoemaker. These guys were all hurt Dobnak, Thorpe, Smeltzer, Duran and there was no one else that would be considered ready at that time.
  10. I think this rotation is set up to have stacked days. Bundy and Archer should be able to get through 3-5 innings. Jax or Winder in the pen can be counted on for 2-3 innings. now we are in the 7th or 8th innings and we can go to the regular bullpen guys to finish out the game. I think if we can get games like that out of them we will be fine. just we need to make sure that we are taking them out at the right time. Also Ober and Gray don't go deep into games all that often either. I hope this year we see more 5-6 innings from Ober then the 4-5 innings from last year. I think Ryan has the chance to be a solid 5-6 inning guy.
  11. Debate topic.  who is the better Prospect/ Pitcher Winder or Duran.  I don't want to debate but thought that would be fun since it looks like both will make the team.

  12. If that is the case then we could trade someone like Garlick or Rooker or Cave to get the deal done. Cause no one wants Hosmer at this point. I wonder if we also ate some of that contract if we could flip him to KC? Maybe SD pays 25 million we pay 10 then KC pays the remaining 25 million and get their 1B back.
  13. Guys we do not need to panic about our C depth. We have Jeffers then Sanchez then Goday and the Banuelos. Banuelos is a good defensive C who will hit like Rortvedt has already hit in the majors. Meaning his bat is mediocre at best. That is what you want from a 4th C. We are good. He will be waiting in AAA for the call. He was a 5th round draft pick we acquired from Seattle for the ability to spend a million on international players Or for literally nothing.
  14. Your logic is sound and well articulated and thought out . “ It just has to work cause I need it to. “. Best argument ever
  15. I dont think 3B is as big of a downgrade as you do. Donaldson only played what 60% of the games there. Didn't Arreaz get a lot of starts there? he is returning. Urshula is better defensively and less on offense. at DH its a downgrade depending on who is rotating in. Sanchez will still catch a lot of games. and C is downgraded but by how much exactly. Jefferson is the better defensive C just not near as good offensively as Garver. Sanchez can cover most of Sanchez power. He just won't hit for average. though i suspect his average will improve because he will get more rest since he will only catch about 35-40% of the games. With Buxton being available in 80% of the games is a huge bonus as will having correa all season. THe offense will also have Killeroff all season and Miranda could get called up and make an impact. I think our offense will be fine. Pitching still has issues however. ..... We could win 85+ games and be a playoff contender. there are 12 teams now.
  16. You are missing the MIranda factor in this. Miranda could come up ad start mashing. If he can do that then the Donaldson trade becomes a huge win. Here's to hoping.
  17. Smeltzer is having a good spring too. He could leap frog someone for a rosterspot. not saying he will. just he could.
  18. The Twins really needed to get 2 solid starting pitchers and having a Bundy or Archer as the last starter was fine as we have options earning their way up. We could end up being just fine with our pitching acquisitions, but the Twins really dropped the ball by not ending up with 2 solid starters. At least they could acquire one later in the season, though I am sure it will cost more in terms of prospects. Joe Smith should help the pen. and that is a positive. Correa is a plus, plus, plus move so was the Buxton extension. Didn't get the trade Donaldson for Ursula and Sanchez. Donaldson was only on the books for this season and next plus an 8 million buyout. We do have some costs savings there, I guess. Also, it makes room for Miranda, who I hope comes in and succeeds. I do believe Sanchez will be better than others here. I bet he will grade out this year as slightly below average defensively at C and he will have around a .780 OPS his batting average will be low is his problem. Ted forgot to mention we acquired 2 prospects in trades that includes our 14th ranked prospect at mlb.com I am not sure where the other prospect ranks. We do have the ability still to acquire another starting pitcher and Oakland still has pitchers to trade. So, the grade can still go up. I am giving them a A- based on the Buxton Extension/ Correa signing adding to the grade over the subtraction of missing out on a solid starting pitcher over 2 reclamation projects. We can still acquire Montas or Manea should Oakland decide to make the plunge. that would move the grade up to a solid A to A+ I mean you can't expect any more out of the Twins than that.
  19. I think the lower innings total will be to protect his arm. He hasn't really pitched in 2 years. Asking him to pitch in 25 to 30 games and pitch 150-180 innings seems like alot to ask out of that arm of his. I suspect he will start the season with 4 or 5 starts in the 3-4 innings per start then go up to 5 and occasionally 6 innings. I do think they will limit his innings so he does not go over 110-120 for the season or more accurately they will probably limit alot of his starts to 80-85 pitches and see how deep he can get into the games. They will treat him the same as they treated Ober last season.
  20. I have him at 15 starts and 65 innings. If he gets to 22 starts expect around 90 to 100 innings tops. He won’t average 5 innings per start as he won’t be ramped up to go beyond 5 for a while and innings limit to protect his arm after so few innings the last few years. He will likely get piggybacked by Jax to get 6/7 innings From the pair. Will be interesting to see how it plays out.
  21. Again Shoemaker was given a longer leash because there were so many injured pitchers they literally had no one to replace him for the last 3 or 4 starts he was here.
  22. I guess now we can wait on trading for Montas and not be taken on a deal. Also we can always trade later if need be. I am not a fan of this move as it doesn’t look like a win now move.
  23. I feel like I am back marching in the Army. Left right left right……
