The Twins Bullpen Could Use Some Help
Brandon replied to Cody Pirkl's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
The bullpen is in good shape at this time. Sure, we could always use an established reliever to help but I don't think its a top priority at this time. as it stands we have these guys in our pen. Pagan, Duffey, Duran, Theilbar, Smith, Winder, Jax, Stashak, Coloumbe. We also have in reserve to be called up if needed: Moran, Cotton, Cano, Megill, Rodriguez, Sands, Romero. a few on the injured list that could make it back this season: Alcala, Romero and we have pitchers in the minors who have yet to be called up: Canterino, Henriguez, Woods-Richardson, and Strottman I think if we can get Alcala back and or Romero, we will be fine. Also We will continue to have 14 pitchers on our staff which will help us manage the reliever's work load. Like I said acquiring a solid established reliever would be nice as you can never have too much pitching. However, it's not a necessity at this time.- 70 replies

Twins Prospects Being Slept On
Brandon replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Minor League Talk
Bechtold is this generations Blankenship. Also David Banuelos is this generations Drew Butera. All defense not hit backup C. And my favorite part of his acquisition is we got him for pretty much nothing. (1 million international spending so the Mariners could chase after Ohtoni).- 9 replies

An Early Look Back on the Chris Paddack Trade
Brandon replied to Cody Pirkl's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Well we could sign Paddack to an inexpensive extension after we see how his recovery is going. Maybe next year at 1 million the following season at 2 or 3 million with an option for 5 million give or take. Nice cost control move. We get Pagan for 2 seasons. I think this trade is ok. It would be better if we had another month or two before the injury but we did get to see our pitching get off to a great start and see that we have lots of depth before the injury. I don’t think we lost this deal or if so not by much. Remember closers aren’t as valuable as a stopper who comes in at the most important moment to pitch like Duran ….- 44 replies

At least with Paddack’s injury his salary will remain low so when he comes back he won’t cost much.

Riverbain, I totally agree with your first point 100%. On the 2nd point however, I think the plan was for Miranda to take over 3B eventually with Killeroff at 1B and Lewis at SS. I think they figured all three would succeed. As surprised as they are of Lewis success, they are probably equally surprised at Miranda's failure so far. So for now, the plan is to pivot and prepare Lewis to come back up and play different positions. I hope he is back soon. The cool thing about Lewis is that he will be able to play anywhere he is needed if he can continue to handle SS. We will still have plenty of money to sign Correa to a long term contract if Falvine decides to pony up. we will see on that one. but for the here and now. I am ok with waiting a few weeks to see if Miranda can turn it around up here then get sent down if he doesn't show the required improvement.

The Twins' 3 Biggest Weaknesses
Brandon replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
There are enough options for LF with Celestine and Garlick until Larnarch returns. Gordon too but it would be nice if he would do a little more with the bat and get on base at a better clip.. as far as 1B goes we need to give Killeroff a chance to show in the minors he can come back from his injury and hit again. Otherwise we can pivot and trade for someone like Josh Bell around the trade deadline. starting pitching is fine. We have lots of options with several more about ready for their chance. Ryan, Ober, Gray, Bundy, Archer, and Winder is 6. Maeda will be back in late August/ September. Balazovich, Canterino, Richardson-Woods, Smeltzer should all merit opportunities at some point this year. Smeltzer appears ready for more opportunities. Right now these are the three areas of concern as well as the offense at third base. I think the best course of action is to work through our issues internally since we do have the talent to plug the holes. But if Sano and Killeroff can’t make it back by the trade deadline, then a trade for Bell makes the most sense. Arreaz could go back and help out at third base fixing 2 holes with 1 player.- 56 replies

Does 100 Games of Buxton Work?
Brandon replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I would think 100 to 115 or so games in CF and another 10-25 games at DH. That would put Buxton in line for 120-130 games. That would be an improvement over past seasons. I do think his current DH numbers are SSS and will improve. Since Buxton has already missed 12 games this would be a great outcome for this season.- 23 replies

Week in Review: Battling Through Attrition
Brandon replied to Nick Nelson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I hope they move Lewis around for the time being 1B, LF, SS and 3B as we need help at 3 of those spots right now. I wonder if we could trade with Washington for their 1B if someone doesn’t step up soon. We can get Arreaz more time at 3rd.- 13 replies

Gilberto Celestino Demonstrating Big-League Value
Brandon replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Being a 4th OF is not the same as in years past. If the 4th OF can play CF there will be lots of opportunities between CF, RF, LF, and DH and pinch hitting he could easily start 100 games and make appearances in 40 others. He could easily make 400 + plate appearances. Especially with an OPS over .800 -
Is It Time to Start Worrying About Austin Martin?
Brandon replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Minor League Talk
Either he makes it or doesn’t there is no worry. He’ll make it back though. Probably as an Arreaz type of super utility player. -

Is the Twins Rotation for Real?
Brandon replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
The Joe Ryan trade will never beat out the Johan Santana trade. How could a rule 5 draft pick for a 2 time Cy Young award winner get beat? THe Joe Ryan trade is still a top 5 or 3 or possibly 2.- 44 replies

Prospect Retrospective: Cole Sands

What pitches does he throw? Does anyone have a scouting report to add here? -
At least they aren’t going backwards as they were a week ago after a 5-2 week.

What the Twins Can Expect from Jose Miranda
Brandon replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I expect at least 20 to 30 plate appearances his first go around. He will get some time in LF, 1B, BH. Maybe a start at 3B and PH. It would be cool if he hits right out the gate but no real expectations for the small sample size.- 29 replies

Twins 9, Rays 1: Garlick Powers Twins to Win
Brandon replied to Sherry Cerny's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
It’s for an initial debut. It’s always a good idea to make debuts less stressful for the rookies. There is plenty of time during the next 6-10 years for Winder to start on a regular basis.- 24 replies

I would keep Winder up until Archer hits 5 or 6 innings. He hasn't done that yet. I like Jax and would like to see him get more time as a reliever too. same with Stashak. so I am conflicted with who they send down, probably Winder and Jax. or Jax and an OF.

3 Takeaways from Tuesday's Wild Walk-off Win
Brandon replied to Melissa Berman's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I am more concerned with Theilbar then I am with Sano. What's up with him so far this year? I think Sano will still get close to 40 HR's and have his option picked up. and next season he will be a full time DH. I doubt Sanchez will be back next season. Though if he can be an average C this year and he hits 25+ HR's then maybe. I also think Urshela has been doing a great job so far as an Arreaz light. .304 ave and .370 obp. On a side note. I would like to see Kepler, Polanco, and Sano spend their whole career here just to see how many HR's and RBI come from that 2009 international league signing class for us. It would be cool to see if they could combine to hit 1000 career HR's for us. They are currently at 368. It would definitely be fun to watch as time goes on.- 13 replies

This game seems pretty entertaining. The Twins must have read Nick’s comments about being boring and decided to have several defensive gems, key well timed Buxton Homer’s, and even a Sano single. Everyone was entertained today. And we are back to .500 and knocking on the door to first place again where we belong.

3 Takeaways from Friday's Win Over the White Sox
Brandon replied to Nick Nelson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
On the plus side we are on a 3 game win streak with the win today. We could even be potentially tied for first if Cleveland loses today. 7-8 from 4-8. I will take it ugly boring game and all. Cause I know that when the temperature goes up so will the HRs and actions and all kinds of good happiness stuff that makes people happy at games.
