  1. The Twins really needed to get 2 solid starting pitchers and having a Bundy or Archer as the last starter was fine as we have options earning their way up. We could end up being just fine with our pitching acquisitions, but the Twins really dropped the ball by not ending up with 2 solid starters. At least they could acquire one later in the season, though I am sure it will cost more in terms of prospects. Joe Smith should help the pen. and that is a positive. Correa is a plus, plus, plus move so was the Buxton extension. Didn't get the trade Donaldson for Ursula and Sanchez. Donaldson was only on the books for this season and next plus an 8 million buyout. We do have some costs savings there, I guess. Also, it makes room for Miranda, who I hope comes in and succeeds. I do believe Sanchez will be better than others here. I bet he will grade out this year as slightly below average defensively at C and he will have around a .780 OPS his batting average will be low is his problem. Ted forgot to mention we acquired 2 prospects in trades that includes our 14th ranked prospect at mlb.com I am not sure where the other prospect ranks. We do have the ability still to acquire another starting pitcher and Oakland still has pitchers to trade. So, the grade can still go up. I am giving them a A- based on the Buxton Extension/ Correa signing adding to the grade over the subtraction of missing out on a solid starting pitcher over 2 reclamation projects. We can still acquire Montas or Manea should Oakland decide to make the plunge. that would move the grade up to a solid A to A+ I mean you can't expect any more out of the Twins than that.
  2. I think the lower innings total will be to protect his arm. He hasn't really pitched in 2 years. Asking him to pitch in 25 to 30 games and pitch 150-180 innings seems like alot to ask out of that arm of his. I suspect he will start the season with 4 or 5 starts in the 3-4 innings per start then go up to 5 and occasionally 6 innings. I do think they will limit his innings so he does not go over 110-120 for the season or more accurately they will probably limit alot of his starts to 80-85 pitches and see how deep he can get into the games. They will treat him the same as they treated Ober last season.
  3. I have him at 15 starts and 65 innings. If he gets to 22 starts expect around 90 to 100 innings tops. He won’t average 5 innings per start as he won’t be ramped up to go beyond 5 for a while and innings limit to protect his arm after so few innings the last few years. He will likely get piggybacked by Jax to get 6/7 innings From the pair. Will be interesting to see how it plays out.
  4. Again Shoemaker was given a longer leash because there were so many injured pitchers they literally had no one to replace him for the last 3 or 4 starts he was here.
  5. I guess now we can wait on trading for Montas and not be taken on a deal. Also we can always trade later if need be. I am not a fan of this move as it doesn’t look like a win now move.
  6. I feel like I am back marching in the Army. Left right left right……
  7. I am going to add that I would be cool with Winder getting a few starts while Cueto spends time in extended spring training after signing. But we really could use more depth.
  8. I would agree with you but since I think Bundt is a 50/50 odds for success at this point, I would rather we have another starter at the beginning of the season and we can always start replacing as we go. I mean right now we are looking at: Grey, Bundy, Winder, Ober, Ryan in reserve we have Duran if not in the pen, Balazovich, then a drop off to Sands, Richardson-Woods, then Strotman, Jax, other castoffs in our system. We don’t have much in the ready category for 7th starter and beyond.
  9. Ober is not a rookie. While he is going through his sophomore season, if he shows he can pitch this year then odds are he's made it. I do agree that we should probably have another starter if for no other reason then to give us more options. Though Winder does look legit so far.
  10. This post didn't age well. We got Correa and we are still on the hunt for pitching and Montas is still available..... stay tuned
  11. I can see the A’s holding out for Canterino or Balazovich and Miranda and maybe another minor leaguer for Montas this would give the A’s a replacement for one of Chapman or Olsen and a Rotation replacement soon.
  12. I put the average down in case Sanchez, Rooker, and Sano have a low average to make up. But Arreaz getting around 100 PA should help the average department. Since the DH will be shared anyone could spike or drop their production. Will be fun to watch play out.
  13. I put that out there as a floor. If we add 20 points to batting average then DH is nearly .800 OPS and that should be fine.
  14. I think we will be fine at DH. I don’t expect a lot of stolen bases. But 25 -30 Hrs isn’t out of the question. Maybe a .230/.320/.430. Not horrible not great. But definitely lots of power. We will be fine now about LF…..
  15. Well this gives us the top 2 picks from the 2012 draft. Since we picked 2nd we knew we’d get 1. But why not get both to play here.
  16. Rortvedt seems a little high on WAR don't you think? and can Donaldson and Garver stay that healthy? so its 9.7 WAR for 5.6 WAR + Story at 4.5 = 10.1 WAR and salary traded = 29.7 million and new money = lets go with 22 for story and 25.15 = 47.15 million.
  17. at the end of the day, this is essentially a three team trade with the Rangers and Yankees. Garver, Donaldson, Revordt to the Yankees and Rangers while the Rangers get Garver and the Yankees get Donaldson, Falefala, and Revordt and we get 2 prospects and Sanchez and Urshala and a cash savings. We downgraded in overall talent but not by a whole lot and freed up capital. we sign Story and get another good starter and reliever then this trade is a huge win because it gives us the capacity to accomplish those things. if we do not, then what a waist. so for now the trade is graded as incomplete because the remaining moves will determine if it is successful or not.
  18. What about the Chuck Knoblauch trade? That one worked out…. Phil Hughes?
  19. Exactly! This trade caught me off guard if we sign Story then I apologize to Falvey and Levine for not trusting you! Although at this time I prefer the players we started with. But with the added flexibility we get Story or Correa then blam nice off-season.
  20. I question the lineup at this point. Let’s see though. DH Sano 1B Killeroff 2B Polanco SS Felafa 3B Donaldson RF Kepler CF Buxton LF Rooker or Larnarch or Miranda? C Jeffers ok if Jeffers can OPS over .750 and Falefa can get over .700 I will feel better and someone needs to win LF and run with it. we could use at least 1 more starter. Maybe a pen arm.
  21. I forget we are probably competing for that 12th playoff seat. Anything can happen in the playoffs. You just gotta believe.
  22. The Twins were rumored to be in on Jonny Cueto
  23. I do like the move as a win now. Just that the team has been a transition team all offseason to date and subtracted offense when they didn’t have to yesterday
