  1. We'll get a look at him early next week and see how severely we feel the loss. So far the spark plug is 3 for 7 with a two-bagger and a walk, 1.071 OPS.
  2. So, are these the features of the 2023 model? Stronger pitching Tighter defense Tepid hitting If so, it's hard to argue with today's results. Still, we have to see how this club performs against contending teams. Oh, and another thing - if there must be an "M" on the cap, please restore the 1987 version. And find an artist that can draw a star.
  3. Today's line in a 6 - 4 win over Yankees: All good?
  4. Ron Davis
  5. The extra inning runner devalues runs scored for a variety of run-related statistics when compared to runs scored in the first nine innings. How do we account for this when evaluating player performance?
  6. One Gold Glove two years ago. Will be 32 years old this season. Should we be feeling more than a little underwhelmed?
  7. Tail-end Charlie here to take a bow for having recently stated that a seven-year or under contract with higher annual value was the right play. Now GMs from all around the leagues are banging on my door. ?
  8. Love watching him play. It is fair to say that he could contribute more than Garlick. That said, we have to concede that his last truly outstanding season was 2017. It is likely there is just not enough upside left in him six seasons out from that, which would be sad...
  9. "Could the Twins wind up with Correa after all...?" I see it, I'll believe it.
  10. Hmmm. 315/12 is considerably closer to 285/10... Wonder if the Twinkies would've tried to match 315? Correa at third, Lindor at short. Helluva infield.
  11. Why not just set up an IRA like a normal person? 8^p
  12. That's a bitter cup to drink from... ;-)
  13. Cross-post from Gio trade article. Looks like an offensive downgrade for the sake of a paltry $3 million. :-( So is Farmer (not Gordon) the new infield utility guy? Starting at 3B? At SS? Admittedly it's early, but frustrating not to be able to see a master plan here.
  14. Nothing wrong with "Twin Cities," it's where they play, and more inclusive than just Minneapolis. North Star emblem is a fine idea. 1987 "M" was better. Bombo sez, "Anything but those powder blues."
  15. Cross-posting from another topic on the subject in the forums. Adding that until we see how the rest of the hot stove season plays out, it is too early to understand the full context of both moves. However, if Farmer is to be on the Opening Day roster, then today's actions mean that the Twins have downgraded the left side of the infield to save $3 million, which is really not big money even for their payroll size. Pay the difference for the better player, and find another way to save the money. Or better yet, just bump your payroll from $140 to $143 million, and sit back and watch a winning ball club.
  16. The 2023 question will be, who do you have ready to back him up for the 70 games he will not play?
