  1. Box score shows one error. Should be three, but apparently you can't charge both E6 and E4 when a batter only gains one base. Why would you ever spot the Yankees an out, especially when you know the umpires will always find a way to handicap them one? That communication gap is going to have to be smoothed out in the manager's office. Middle and late inning ABs got hasty again. Needed to transition from ambush mode to patience mode. Faulting the pitchers against that lineup of "savages" is misplaced effort. We all saw how well they worked the count. The Twins had them on the ropes, and the defense and offense should have kept them there.
  2. How do we arrive at this conclusion when we look at his game logs? Seems like pretty steady improvement for a guy who pitched less than 20 innings last year. Last start, the guy allowed 1 ER in a 2-3 loss. Is he the source of the Twins troubles? Take a look at his game logs and provide evidence for this assertion. Bundy has had four lousy starts. He's also thrown five games in which he allowed 1 ER or less. Until a better, healthy and more reliable arm comes along, we ought to think about how we can coach more out of his. Today was a blowout, but the fact is over the last seven games, the Twins have scored only 27 runs. RISP over those games is an abysmal: 5-35. It's easy to blame pitchers, but this spotty offense, and those cringe-worthy at bats are the real enemy.
  3. In spite of that crapulous 5-game series in the Motor City, after taking the first game from the Jays this club is on a 93-win pace. If the club gets healthy, there is good reason to believe they can build on that.
  4. Completed a third of the season today. 93-win team at this pace. Do they get better from here?
  5. How about what gymnasts use for high dismounts/falls?
  6. Maybe the club needs to look into improving the wall padding's ability to absorb impact?
  7. The guy has some pretty impressive clutch splits. Hits particularly well vs LHP.
  8. Anybody remember a while back when Royals pitching looked like it had a whole lotta upside and just owned the Twins? With a quarter of the season in the bag, that staff is now 15th in the AL in R, ER, ERA and SO, and 14th in H and BB. We caught them at the right time.
  9. Interesting to see him keep dropping that 75 mph curve right in the middle of the zone and watch KC batters keep looking at it. Wonder where they think it's going?
  10. Let Correa do what he is being paid to do (so very well). This kid will be back in the bigs very soon.
  11. Cold showers at Target Field. Hope a few lessons sank in!
  12. You get a like for the lede alone! ?
  13. Are more batters being hit by pitches in the past five or ten years than previous decades? Need to run some numbers, because getting plunked used to feel like a rare, or deliberate occurrence. HBP seems to be in every box score these days...
  14. A 12 - 9 April is a real achievement, particularly given where we were last year, but also historically. Relying on memory rather than checking years previous, but usually this club started slow in the first month, then broke out in May and June in many of their best years. 15% of the season is not enough to tell where the club is going just yet, but they are red hot right now with considerably more upside than down. It would be fair for critics to say they would have done things differently, but if this success holds, management should get considerable credit for this off-season rebuild.
  15. There is now little reason not to believe Derek Falvey's statement that this team will compete this season. Results so far support it, with room for improvement, of course. This infield defense is going to keep us in many more games than 2019 and 2020, and should be better than 2022, as well. Kepler's OPS up .240 in two games. I'm Maxxxing out!
  16. There's a lot of looking gift horses in the mouth here for a team that has just posted its first winning record of the season. Are we having fun yet?
  17. Dear Byron, Caleb, Emilio, Gio, Luis, Miguel and Ryan, Today's loss was a team effort. Please follow Doctor Bombo's ten-point prescription to prevent further downers like this game. Neatly fold your rain-soaked, muddy uniforms Stack and place them in a heavy duty, 2-ply trash bag Put the lineup card and box score on top of the stack Collect all game balls and put them in the bag; do not use for BP or sell in the gift shop as "game (ab)used" Seal the bag tightly with duct tape Place the bag in the Target Field dumpster Secure the dumpster lid tightly to deny carrion any access Turn 180 degrees, walk away from the dumpster without looking back Have someone drive you home, sleep at least eight hours Enjoy a big, hot breakfast with your loved ones Stick 'em tomorrow! One more item 11. for Miguel. The next time you see Roy Smalley in the ball park, chat him up. Bring Max with you.
