  1. Bremer deserves the honor. Congratulations! As for the Twins, "Well, duh!" Roy Smalley? Tom Brunansky? Sam Mele?
  2. Then we will once again truly be the farm team for the major leagues
  3. Brian Harper also needs to be brought forward - 13.4 WAR and a ring in 6 seasons
  4. Another glaring omission: Tom Brunansky (16.1 WAR over 6+ seasons)
  5. We wouldn't want that!
  6. ERRATUM - Johan Santana is IN Apologies.
  7. Laudner, not for his WAR, but for his ring, his eight-year career, all with the club, and his broadcasting work?
  8. And then there are days like today, where the guy goes 2-for-3 with a dinger and cleanly fields everything hit/thrown to him. You know there is talent in this guy and you _want_ him to succeed, which is what makes the taken third strikes and the miscues so frustrating. Will the real Edouard Julien please stand up?
  9. Well, 6 - 6 since the blow-up. Bring on the Tigers, I guess.
  10. Manager nomination: Better W-L record than Tom Kelly.
  11. Crikey! This one completely slipped my mind. Thanks!
  12. Non-enshrined top Twins players by WAR*: Chuck Knoblauch, 38.0; Johan Santana, 36.1; Roy Smalley, 23.7 Note also a number of Senators: Walter Johnson, 167.8 (!); Sam Rice, 53.8; Joe Judge, 47.8; Goose Goslin, 43.5; Buddy Meyer, 42.4; Clyde Milan, 40.1; Joe Cronin, 37.0; Cecil Travis, 30.5; Buddy Lewis, 29.4; Ossie Bluege, 28.7 Given that he asked to be traded, Knoblauch is unlikely to get a plaque. Since he earned two Cy Young awards during his time with the club, we can be certain that Santana's time will come. Johnson and Goslin ought to at least get a display somewhere on the concourse. * WAR earned while with the ball club, not career WAR
  13. Three years out of a 14-year career, to be sure, and yet his performance in two of of them were in the same class as his Cy Young and All Star years. Goltz, Zahn and Koosman wouldn't have had the seasons they had without him.
  14. It's a relief to read this
  15. And a posthumous nomination. This guy kept us watching through some very dark days.
  16. Yes, to this guy.
  17. Taylor Rogers was another player who might fit that description...?
  18. After Keaschall's walk-off HR in the rubber game with KC Sunday, he skipped down the aisle of the dugout for the usual high-five lineup with the bench before coming back on the field. As the camera followed him, it showed Julien with his back to the aisle, apparently picking his equipment up off the bench instead of congratulating his teammate and celebrating the win. It's impossible to know exactly what was happening just then, but it struck me at the time as another example of how Julien is may not be very focused and tuned-in to what is happening around him. It's nigh impossible to get to the bigs without full powers of concentration, but one wonders if this has anything to do with how frequently he gets called out looking, not to mention his other offensive and defensive miscues. He doesn't have a vacant stare, but his face does often look as if something besides baseball in the present moment is on his mind. This much is certain - Time is running out for him as a Twin if he can't return to what he was doing offensively in 2023.
  19. No shade on Corey Koskie, but why is he being inducted ahead of Roy Smalley? For that matter, why hasn't Smalley been inducted long before now?
  20. Are we talking about the same person? As of last week he was in the upper third of the roster by WAR (1.4), and put up enviable numbers, Time on the IL does not erase that.
