  1. Correa thought he was a Dior product, but he's really a Best Buy open-box-item. Edit: Looks like I was kinda ninja'd by DJL44
  2. Making the Major League Baseball All-Star Game as a starter at shortstop is a failure at shortstop? Tough game.
  3. If signed, Rocco will pull him back down to earth. 5.5? That's crazy!
  4. Best thing I've read on TD, since RiverBrian's "Confessions ...."
  5. There's the Minneapolis Miracle that will be necessary.
  6. Automatic K Slot in the lineup that was vacated by Sano.
  7. I'm just going by the period since they started signing homegrowns and buying out FA years. Deals like those are good for keeping the base at a higher level. The team is sitting what $40 mill? under 2022 payroll. Rodon, Swanson, and maybe Thor, JD Martinez are the only ones left that I consider good fits that will put a large dent in that. I don't see the Twins signing more than one of those four players, and I really don't like the years that Rodon wants considering his health history. If they can't get those guys, why not use the payroll to buyout FA years on Joe Ryan, Luis Arraez or even Jose Miranda? I understand that not everyone will think those particular players are the correct targets for those kind of contracts.
  8. 30 games over .500 for the regular seasons, but sadly 0fer the playoffs.
  9. Spend the money on buying free agent years from homegrown talent by giving them signing bonuses and life-changing money that is hard to turn down. Precedent for success Kepler - 9.2 bWAR and counting on 5/$33m Polanco - 12.6 bWAR and counting on 5/$26m Precedent for failure Sano - 0.1 bWAR on 3/$30m Total - 21.9 bWAR and counting on 13/$89m + League Minimum and Change for whoever has to fill in for the failure. That's where I'm at, but I'm open to being picked apart on the idea.
  10. Vazquez is a huge upgrade over Sanchez, IMO. He immediately starts out as the second best catcher in the division behind Salvy - The Great One. I could see him earning half to two-thirds of that contract in year 1 and then see the time share with Jeffers swing in Ryan's favor more in years 2 and 3.
  11. "Baseball is constantly looking for ways to make improvements to the game so that younger fans are more likely to stay interested. "
  12. Congratulations, Luis Arraez!!!

  13. Same here, especially after Miranda was out, Arraez got his hit and it was reported that Judge was pulled after his homer. Winder has some nasty breaking stuff, but it isn't going to play if his fastball command doesn't improve. Way too many long PAs against him that seemed to start with non-competitive fastballs. I still think Winder has a lot of upside, but he should probably be #8/9 in the 2023 pecking order plans until he tightens things up.
  14. Reaction on a Yankees' fan site when one of their writers lists the Twins as competition for Correa's services:
  15. Dumping Kepler in favor of outfield slugs Larnach, Kirilloff and Wallner and $8.5 mill is likely to be a reoccurring theme in off-season posts. I would also expect assumptions that Miami would love to have Kepler and will trade Lopez or Alcantara for him and some 10 to 20s level prospects. Larnach and Kirilloff will then get hurt, and Wallner will pull a Parmelee. Rinse and repeat.
  16. Minimum 4-1, or I think it's over. I actually think it's over, because 4-1 seems very unlikely.
  17. If Salvi didn't already have a ring, I'd feel sorry for him. The Royals are pathetic.
  18. "They’re hoping to have the likes of Simeon Woods Richardson, Jordan Balazovic, Ronny Henriquez, Blayne Enlow, and Cole Sands give them real starter innings. Everyone mentioned there is close ..." You're kidding, right? SWR? Maybe. The rest of that group is nowhere near ready to be starting games in MLB, unless losing is the goal. The old group is intact? They're all on or should be on the IL. How is fast emergence to take place with the new group, when half of them are chronically on the IL? How does this tripe (this and the nonsense about being built for October) get on the front page? Booooo.
  19. Such a terrible showing, but Cleveland lost. Two games separate three mediocre teams from the one playoff spot that is handed to the ALC. With the intradivision play being reduced next season, it is not that hard to see a sub-500 team winning the ALC in 2023. That would be the ultimate joke.
