  1. The whole affair turns me off. As big a fan as I am pretty soon I'll have golf back, basketball back, college football and the NFL. And if the players don't get more realistic they will get paid nothing, zero, nada. Sorry, I never feel sorry for someone that shoots themselves in the foot. Major League players have way over valued their barganing hand. If they lose their entire salary this year they will, never, never get it back. Just like an emply airline seat when a plane takes off this season is close to taking off (flying away} and I'm not going to shed one tear .. Besides, I might never feel safe enough to go to a Minnesota sporting event again.
  2. I love the NFL draft and put together a sheet pre draft that lists the players I want and what round. There is a significant amount of study on my part but in baseball I just leave it up to the team. But once the pick is taken I follow all the Twins players through their mlb carrers, looking at every mlb (Twins) states every night before I go to bed. As for strategy you have done a good job of laying out the alternate strategies but I don't believe you go into the draft with one of these strategy's unless you are pick at the top of the draft and have a pretty good idea of the top players. Only until you know the players at your disposal at 27 will you have the opportunity to chose a strategy. At 27 if one player you really like slips too you simply take him. If mulitple players then the strategy begins. What I'm as much interested this year is picking up quality free agents and I would prefer we spent our money on quality over quantity as are minor league is already stacked. The sad part is we will not be able to follow their progress until next year ...
  3. 100% agree with this article .. Well said
  4. Refreshing to see us back to baseball talk. THX
  5. Nick, YOU created a firestorm. I hope you have learned a lesson from taking your personal moral high ground, You have a Democratic Governor and Major. If they can't solve the problem then it is unsolvable. What is solvable is putting down the insurgency and protecting your fellow Minnesotan's. You live in a very liberal state yet your city burns out of control. In fact, almost all of these cities are run by liberal Democrats. So what's your solution now. Elect Socialists, Communists. Leaders need to be pragmatic. Your leadership gave them an inch and they took a mile. The rioters (not the peaceful protestors) did this. Why aren't you calling them out. And what's wrong with protecting our brave police officers that have risked their lives protecting their communities. This riot ought to give you a glimpse the type of individuals (yes there are many whites rioting along with the blacks) they have to deal with every day in rough neighborhoods. It's not an easy job so when a few rouge cops do something wrong you should focus on the thousands of good cops that are in danger. But your way of thinking makes it taboo to do so. That's what's wrong with the country. It's the political corrects in lue of common sense that is causing the problem. Elect a strong Governor and Mayor or they might come to your neighborhood and burn down your house as well. Okay, I'm done. Thing I will stop reading the Twins Daily until baseball season but if you ever inflame this forum again I'm done with it ...
  6. Nick, would you like to send you post to the family's of small business owners that have lost their life's savings? Kep was right as 0ver 99 percent of police officers are decent people. To attack the whole for the actions of few is about as ignorant as it gets. I'm sure everyone on this board respects the rights for peaceful protest and yes, I can understand them wanting the police officers are punished. What's crazy is it doesn't matter who you talk to in the country everyone agree's with the protestors that it was a travesty. But now, for you not to call out the organized group of thugs that have come into you city with the sole purpose of social unrest is irresponsible. I'd highly suggest keeping you political views to yourself or you are going to burn down this valued site and that would be a shame. Sincerely, Craig
  7. Well, I'd say there is a high likelihood we take a right handed pitcher.
  8. Thanks for the draft analysis. I would like to add something to the fifty man roster discussion we had a few days ago. It's very possible many of the players will contract covid 19 and have to sit out 14 days quarantine. This will place an added pressure on having to replace them from players that are not on the 29 man roster. I feel the Twins are deep and will not effect us as much as many other teams.
  9. Selfishly I prefer to have as many development minor leagues as possible and do without guys like Theilbar and Reinheimer. Only playing half a season I seriously doubt they would have an opportunity to hit the field. I also feel we are waiting our time with Romero and Jake Reed and would attempt to trade them. That would open up the roster for 4 more young players that we feel could one day make an impact. As for service time, can someone tell me what it take to start the clock. Does one or two games in the majors start the process. Will we be able to add a few in September like we used to and not start their clock?
  10. Would be nice to see him make the majors by sometime in 2021
  11. The part of the plan I am thrilled about is the electric strike zone. If successful, it could be the end of umpires calling balls and strikes!
  12. If you ran a simulation on our remaining 81 opponents and they are stronger teams than our first 81 opponents then I might agree but I don't think I by into the notion that just having fewer games reduces our chance. Even 81 games is equivalent to a FULL NBA season. Not sure anyone has ever claimed that was not enough games to sort out the best teams. We would lose Pineda for most of the season but Hill would take his place, plus we would have Pineda for the play offs. And what's to say the won't have the time to change the schedule. Would be a Herculean task but the most fair approach.
  13. Let me just make this prediction. Eddie will not be on the team in 2021 because of his projected 12-13 mill salary and the talent waiting in the wings. If Buxton performs this season and with right field nailed down for years the only open spot for Kirilloff, or Larnach is left field and they are a lot less expensive. Before this season I would have said there was an opportunity for Kirilloff to play 1st base but now Sano is a fixture. Because his lack of defensive skills Rooker will probably have to hope the designated hitter spot opens up soon. Rooker could also be a back up outfielder and pinch hitter as well. Rosario frustrates the hell out of me due to his lack of plate discipline. I also feel he is impulsive and makes bad decisions like Cave. Wade is solid but not talented enough to compete with Kirilloff and Larnach. I have been very impressed with Kirilloff, Larnach, Rooker and Lewis this pre season. These guys will be ready by mid season. Can't hold them off much longer and Eddie's spot is the only one available. All roads lead to Eddie ..
  14. Just read that Thorpe is back in camp .. This may be the best depth the Twins have ever had ...
  15. Late in the season if Kiriloff ever get's called up due to someone else getting injured I bet it will be like Arraez where they will find someone else to send down cuz he will stick. Larnach could as well but would be tough to figure out how to keep both of them up at the same time this year. I look for both of them to be fixtures with the club in 2021 meaning at least (one) someone will need to get traded. I think we entertained trading that someone this off season
  16. Wow!!! There is a lot of pushback to this article. Most are saying don't do anything to mess up his current hitting approach. I completely understand the concern but I think extra power will come naturally for him through the years as his body matures and his hitting skills are honed. So even if you don't change his swing he's going to hit more home runs. We should look at any home run he hits as a gift and as he matures I think if will be a gift that keeps on giving ..
  17. Of all the minor leaguers who got their shot in the bigs last year his stuff really popped out at me. Or should I say Poppened out at me If he can corral his control issues his stuff could be electric out of the pen ..
  18. How about this for our 2020 hitting lineup to start 2022 .. Outfield Kepler Buxton Larnach Kiriloff (OF/1B) Infield Donaldson Sano Palanco Arraez Utility Lewis Gordon DH Rooker Cather Garver Jeffries
  19. Kirilloff had an injury plagued year. I have no concerns about him whatsoever.
  20. Let's face facts. Todate, the Twins have been much better at developing their own prospects than trading for talent. So far that is ...
  21. I see no reason Balasovic (not mentioned in this article) Duran and Corina won't make it to the majors late 2021 or 2022 at the latest. As for Alcala, it just depends on his control. Romero is another one that control will most likely keep him from sticking. I cringe every time Romero takes the mound.
  22. The problem with Cave is by possibly as early as late this year he has no place in our long term plans. Krilloff, Larnach, Rooker are knocking on the door. Cave plays a little too out of control always trying to be the hero. Makes bad decisions in the outfield especially when it comes to where and when to throw the ball. People forget about Rosario's arm although he started to make bad throwing decisions last year as well. If I had to guess I would say neither Rosario or Cave will be with the Twins next year ...
  23. Did he really think the Twins gave up their 3rd best prospect and more to bring him in as a set up guy? Sounds like one humble guy
