    I spend time in STL each year and go to Cardinal games with my brother in law. Wong is a solid yet unspectacular player. But it's his position flexibility that doesn't work fo me. The thought of Wong getting the nod over Arraez turning Arraez into some kind of a utility player that doesn't have a home is a reach. And move him to the outfield. We are loaded with outfielders who hit for power. So teams around the league would love to trade for Arraez while no one is knocking at Wong's door and we are supposed to replace Arraez a second for Wong? Sorry, just can't see it ..

    I love watching my Twins but I wish Baseball had some form of salary cap like the NFL. I get so tired of the Yankees being able to outspend us 2/1 and then we wonder why the Twins can't beat them ..

    The real question is why did they let the White Sox out bid them for Hendricks. Could make the difference in who wins the division. Now they have to spend big anyway just to catch up to paraty ..

    It's all about value. Only big splurge they have made using emotion was Donaldson and his health concerns make me very nervous. Stick with the plan and be patient for good deals .. Along with giving serious consideration to the wonderful talent we have waiting in the winds ..

    Probably comes down to whether they sign a top notch starting pitcher or not .. If not, put the money into his Hand ..

    I never like renting a player for one year. It smacks of now or never when our window is wide open for at least the next 3 years .. or more

    Arreaz has everything you want as a second baseman. I would simply plug him in until the cows come home ... 330 hitters with great command of the strike zone are hard to come buy. He lacks homerun power but if there is one position on the field that does ot provide a lot of power it's second base. We shouldn't over think this just because we have fielding issues a SS and an injury prone third baseman. Those issues have nothing to do with Arreaz

    If Donaldson became our full time DH (we'd be paying him a pretty penny to DH) because we lose Cruz and Donaldson can't stay healthy at third, I guess my question might be, can he stay healthy at DH .. Do they have calf muscles implants. LOL .. Maybe they can use one from a real calf ..

    As GNess said. Polanco is ideally suited for the super utility role. That would leave short stop to either Gordon or Lewis. But not right away. Start the season with Polanco at SS and Gordon in in the utility role so that Gordon can display what he has. (I mean, after all these years if Gordon can't at least be a good utility guy how will he ever be a position player). Mid season bring up Lewis and add to the mix. Their play will determine their roles but one thing is for sure. The utility player better play a good third base because he could play extended time at a moments notice

    I always liked Gonsalves. His problem was lack of velocity on his fastball. If in fact he can throw 94-95 mph now I find him an intriguing target ..

    Please not the AL Central. I don't want to listen to the broadcasters discussing it every time we play against him.

    I believe the leverage is on the Twins side. Don't think other teams will overpay for a one trick pony. Good chance Whistler will resign after testing the market. That said, I was thrown by this decision as well.

    Exactly! I've invested the last four years following these prospects in the minors and will feel robbed if I don't get to see them play for the Twins.I don't like the idea of trading them away. The Twins have given me 2 world Series and it would be nice to bag another one or two before I go, but I've get tremendous satisfaction watching our minor leaguers develop into stars. Besides, as you said, if the deal does not pan out it will set us back years. And then there is the fact we are a mid market team. We can't afford to go out and spend big like the Yankees. Developing stars that are low budget and under team control is the only way we can afford to put a good product on the field.

    As much as I fret over having good players available to the rule 5 draft, it speaks wonders to how strong our minor league system is.

    I think trading Buxton is a fair question to ask: * If he wasn't so injury prone I would say no * Can we afford to sign him three years from now? If the answer is no then trading makes sense. If you trade him now, you might not get what you want because of his injury history. If you keep him one more year and he plays 140 games and his power production stays the same as last year or goes up you could get a boatload. But if he only plays 90 games his value will plummet. I also fair to discuss trading Rosario and Sano .. I have no problem with you not listing trade options in this article.
