  1. Just wait until June and the Twins will have enough outfielders on IR to sort all of this out. It's the last man standing scenario.
  2. I have followed Moran in our system as well and would love for his performance in the bigs last year not to be a fluke but I really struggled with his implosions every time we sent him back to AAA
  3. I've got to say the contract is still a little confusing to me? Is this really an 8 year contract for 275 million with an out for the twins after 6 years if he's not healthy.? Was the original offer 295 mill for 10 years? I never like to commit to a player for 10 years much less 12 or 13 years like the Giants and Met's. I really like the fact it's only a 6 year commitment if his ankle doesn't hold up.
  4. Only if Boston marks him down and puts him on Sale ..
  5. I don't like Celestino's lack of power and mental lapses on defense. If Martin is ready mid season (who bat's right) and proves himself I would be all for trading Celestino. But for now his ability to play centerfield will keep him here whether in the bigs or AAA waiting Buxton to get injured. That said, I'm going to go out on a limb and predict Buxton has his first heathy full season.
  6. Could Martin be the right hand hitting outfielder we have been needing? If he is able to back up Buxton and play one of the corners against left handed pitching along with the fact he can pinch run in the late innings if on the bench I could see a home for Martin mid season.
  7. Twins give Correa the 10 year 285 mill contract. Correa plays 4 good years and then his ankle gives out. Twins are cash strapped for the next 6 years. The Twins are lost in the wilderness during my years 76 thru 81. His salary rolls off the books as I gasp my last dyeing breath.
  8. We've all been watching and rooting for these kids for a long time. Ho great would it be for this to be the year Krilloff, Larnach, Wallner , Miranda, Lewis, Canterino and Alcala all break through with Gordon and Duran already proven. Winder can play a prominent role but I don't think he will ever bee great. Just a little hopeium for the new year ..
  9. I agree, we need to give him a chance to prove himself. As for ZiPS, it can only extrapolate the data in to get the data out. When it comes to injury's ZiPS is at a disadvantage. Not only did he not play many games last year a long stream of them was when he was hurt which hurt his numbers.
  10. You ARE right Nick, in my estimation. It would take unique cartomancers like these for us to have a shot. Like Correa saying, screw it! I'll just take the Twins offer. At least I know what I'm getting there. I've had enough shopping ....
  11. So if we have two Gallo's why did we sign Gallo? That's the mystery ..
  12. Our starters can handle 5 innings. stack the bullpen like the best teams do. Obviously we don't have the money to stack the starting rotation so let's do the next best thing.
  13. Would I have signed Gallo? No .. but we have him so I'm hopping he can get back on track to the tune of .210 BA, 35 HR .340 OBP .. But more importantly I hope his ability to play centerfield allows us to keep Celestino in the minor leagues. Why Celestino, I think he's going to be a career 2.65 hitter with no power. He can cover ground in centerfield but makes too many mental errors. WE have so many outfielders who can hit and hit with power that need to play.
  14. Miranda is going to play average defense and be a perineal 300 hitter with power. He tore up the minor leagues and acquitted himself well in his first season. He can play 1st base if needed and of coerce DG. He's a right handed hitter which is at a premium. Miranda, Lewis, Lee, Krilloff, Laurnich, Wallner, Julian, Martin, We've been anticipating their arrival for the last 4 to 5 years. Let's put a bat and ball in their hands and let them play. And we still have Buxton, Arreaz , Gordon, Gallo and our catcher potion solved. By 2024 this group can be one of the premier lineups in the league, leading in batting average and at the top with home runs.
  15. Do everything except trading Gray and I'm all in. To me it's not a tear down, it's the team I have been dreaming about for years. Time to let the young kids have their day ..
  16. Why would the Twins raise their final offer. Especially after SF had injury concerns. That sure wouldn't want to make you go from 10 to 13 years ..
  17. More evidence we were played by Correa. (or maybe he got his fill of juice Lucie's). Baseball has been broken for decades. Nothing new here. The big issue is what showed up during the physical that caused Correa to take 35 million left. This is why I don't like huge long term contracts. Personally, I believe the Mets are rolling the dice. But who knows, maybe Correa doesn't pass the Met's physical. if so would you want the Twins to lay out what they offered Correa. I moved on from Correa days ago. I'd rather wait for Lewis and Lee ..
  18. Let's just say the Twins were, swinging for the fences, with this signing ?
  19. Yes, Miranda may have to wind up at first when all is said and done. But looking past this year I could see both Lewis and Lee manning our left side ..
  20. Just an observation from reading this thread and others. This is not a player fans wanted by about a 9-1 margin. That says a lot in it's own right. I wonder what the response would have been if Gallo came in to play first base and DH.
  21. Well, the came out of left field .. I didn't see that one coming because well, it shouldn't have come. Need a right handed hitting corner outfield play and get a left hander. Just got rid of Sano's strikeout rate and now we beat it. (guess the good news is you can't hit into a double play as you strike out). I see no justification for this move. But now we have him the first thing I would do is work with Joey to level out his swing and try to hit more line drives. This increases his hard contact and batting average and reduces his strike outs. With his power there is no reason many of those line drives will leave the park anyway. On the plus side he seems to walk a lot and has a good on base percentage. Maybe we should bat him leadoff ?
  22. I commend you on writing a thoughtful article that is probably not popular. I agree with the article in it's entirety. Well done and brave ..
  23. Crying over spilt milk. Yes, Correa played us the minute he approached Minnesota and signed what in essence was a one year contract. Then kept us on a string until he go the contract he wanted. I'm more upset with Correa than the Twins front office except for their gullibility. Time to move on.
  24. Just glad that's over so we can move on. I prefer waiting for Lewis and Lee. Strengthen the pull pen now and extend some young players contracts with the money we saved. Possibly trade for a quality starter. Time to move on. No way I would have given Correa a 13 year deal ..
  25. I prefer Lewis and Lee long term. Much less expensive and that money can be used elsewhere. But, we need a stop gap until Lewis is ready mid season, Maybe that's why they traded for Kyle Farmer ..
