  1. You're clearly shooting at a soft spot saying, "is the best they can do". And here I am responding to it... so kudos to you. Heaney has maybe 5 starts that were good and 3 months on the IL total before and after that. My cat's asses have a better track record and probably more upside..There you made me do it. Kudos again...
  2. I realize you're kidding here. I've been a Paddack fan for a while now. After his rookie season there was talk of him possibly being one. Him Being healthy for 2024 I wouldn't discount. He was good to really good before the last two seasons on elbow trouble. He could surprise all the Rogers trade haters...
  3. After last season....A starter gets injured by May..SWR makes 25 starts of 3.30 ERA 140 innings with 10/9K's for 3.5 WAR and a 125 ERA+ and wins AL ROY award. Hopefully I'm wrong no one gets injured that badly and he wins minor league pitcher of the year honors. Either outcome works for me.
  4. I don't know about an ace. Of the Twins pitchers that will be free agents after the 2023 season. He is the one I'd put a qualifying offer on. So maybe I'd call him the staff ace. Seems like a prime spring training extension candidate.
  5. I'd rather get Bassitt for an extra year at the same total.
  6. I hope this is his year. With the new jerseys and Sano let go. I'm looking for a current player who's jersey I'll need to buy....What do yeah say Alex? It's you, Larnach or Lewis. Whichever plays the most games wins. ?
  7. I was looking at it on BTV as well. Those seem like the most likely packages. Maybe Ober, Enlow and Rodriguez with a lottery ticket or two coming back on the Twins side. Keep in mind Rodriguez has played all of 6 games in AAA ball and requires a 40-man spot.
  8. I agree. I am leery of the lineup. With or without Correa. I think it's safe to expect better health as a whole. But who other than Polanco and Arreaz have any proven anything in the lineup when healthy? Jeffers? nope. Keplar? nope. Kirilloff? not really. Larnach? for a month. Buxton? Yeah, just plan on 100 games or less. That's a lot of IDK's. I hope Correa is settled early so they can pivot or fill out the margins while quality players are still available.
  9. Jansen would be a great add to the team. I think that trade is a bit light. It'll probably take something close to Kep, Gordon and 1 or both pitchers to get there. Another option is to take on a bad contract like Kikuchi. Then I could see Kep and one of the pitchers doing it. A viable veteran long reliever/starter (although expensive) could be a big plus for the pitching staff. Not ideal but Jansen would offset a lot of the negative with his play and salary. Doc Gast mentioned Edny Rodriguez. A switch-hitting catcher/1b would be a huge get. But I think the trade would be tough to swing. Their minor league system is full of close to mlb position players. Which is the strength of our system. I'd guess they'd want mostly close to mlb pitchers. IDK if the quality and quantity is there to make that happen.
  10. Kind of makes you wonder what Arraez, Julien and Martin in the same line up would do to a pitch count. A walk, stolen base, a single and another walk. Looks like 40-50 pitch 1st inning and a 1-0 lead for the Twins to me.
  11. If he wins another batting title he's going to very expensive by the end of his arbitration seasons. An extension would likely make him an even more valuable trade chip if it ever came to that. Without an extension he is likely at his peak trade value this offseason. I think extending him is the right move. 5@ 9-10 mil AAV I would think gets it done.
  12. Great question...The answer is..?..Ummm...similar to short stop. Does anyone really know??
  13. Josh Breaux-AAA- Yankees catcher. Will Wilson-AAA- Giants SS Punt on the rest
  14. Another thing to consider is the Twins graduated Ryan, Duran, Miranda and traded Petty from their Jan 2022 list. Maybe the quality of hitting prospects gets them to spend on a high end pitcher? One can hope...The lack of catching prospects about A ball is definitely a glaring weakness on the Twins system. Maybe they address that yet this offseason in trades.
  15. It pains me to say it but this. The money spread out over 2-4 positions would likely make a better team next season and beyond. I want it to be B but am prepared for it to be A
  16. I noticed a few people saying we parted ways with a lot of prospects at the deadline. Which we did, but the cupboards not bare.
  17. Looks like my previous Blog had a bad link. This one seems to be working for me. I prefer the tier rankings over 1-100 type. Most tier 1's are in your top 100 type listings. Tier 2 prospects are usually 75-200 range. Keith Law pointed out that the difference between a #1 prospect and a #25 is usually huge. Where a 50th ranked player and a 100th ranked player is pretty small. 18. Is there some reason we couldn't keep Kep in right and put Renfroe in left? Gordon is a better fit as super utility then everyday LF. Larnach and Kirilloff haven't proven they can stay on the field let alone produce. We haven't had offense come from left field since Rosario was let go. If we can play Rooker in left a few years ago I'm guessing Renfroe can more then handle it.
  19. The Twins are definitely light on power hitters. Especially right-handed ones. None of the young guys have proven they can stay on the field or that they are the answer. Hanniger would fill that role. I'm not excited to add another often-injured player to the mix. Hanniger or Myers on a 1-year deal would be great. More than that not so much.
  20. Baltimore's Santander might be a possibility as well. Switch hitting LF who had a pretty decent 2022 season.
  21. Casey Legumina surprises me but congrats to him! Plenty there to like. Sisk is the only one I wonder about. There will be probably be a silly amount of rule 5 players available so maybe me stays put. Casey Legumina has starter innings probably a smart play to hold onto an AA starter over a AAA reliever..
  22. It may make sense but this felt like a roster spot that could have been upgraded.
  23. Looks like a lot of teams are going to be struggling to find room for Rule 5 eligible prospects. I'm going to guess Julien, Canterino and Headrick get added. Then maybe a trade for someone's AAA SS or catcher to fill out the last spot on the 40 man and add some depth to a need position. I'd worry about loosing Sisk, Urbina and Severino. Without a trade I'd add Sisk. AAA lefty with a heart beat likely gets taken, Urbina is just to far away and Severino is probably to far down the depth chart to add.
