  1. All of these injuries, and rehab stints, are shaking up the crystal ball. No idea what the lineup will look like a week from now. Will be interesting to see how much they play Julien when he is called up. And are Correa's latest aches and pains anything to worry about?
  2. Baltimore is making use of Danny Coulombe in the bullpen, He pitched another scoreless inning yesterday, his ERA remaining at 0.00. In the same game, Brent Rooker had 2 hits for Oakland, but nothing for extra bases.
  3. Over in Atlanta yesterday Michael Tonkin pitched: 3 scoreless innings and only gave up 1 hit with 3 strikeouts. And in their bullpen Nick Anderson pitched a scoreless inning.
  4. Yeah, a sad start for Jose after a lackluster season last year. It's still early, so hope he can turns things around, but those are brutal early numbers.
  5. That was fun to see. First cycle in Marlins history!
  6. I agree, Even in a situation like the one in this game, it seems as if teams nowadays are adverse to bunting. What a delight to see Taylor bunt in that situation. I love it! And even better that it resulted in the winning run scoring.
  7. Seeing the starters going deeper into the games without getting the hook is very nice to see. Maybe it's a combination of Rocco being much more confident with this rotation, plus we actually had a spring training of normal length this year. These pitchers seemed like they were prepared to tackle heavier loads even in early April.
  8. the Might Mussels plated five runs off a flurry of knocks, releasing more hit singles than Earth Wind and Fire. That was my favorite line of the week! Thank you! Keep Your Head to the Sky!
  9. So many shortstops and so little games. Yes, it is a bit of a problem, not only at Cedar Rapids but at other levels too. But as others have suggested, some of these player should be able to, somewhat effortlessly. slide over to second or third base, or even do some outfield duty. Good athletes like these guys are somewhat resilient.
  10. Tough break for Odorizzi .. and the Rangers. But the Rangers finally have more depth with their starting pitching this year, especially if DeGrom stays healthy.
  11. Leave it the accountants to decide!
  12. I honestly can't remember, but yes that song DID come out about the same time. I also remember a friend of mine re-writing the lyrics of "It's Tricky" by Run DMC to "It's Mickey" and presenting it to him on a big card for his birthday at a spring training game in March one year! Hatcher was a cool player. I hated it when they traded him in '87, but I ended up liking the addition of Dan Gladden. And what a timely home run by Hatcher for LA during the '88 world series. Everyone remembers the Kirk Gibson walk-off homer, but Hatcher's homer was also big.
  13. Having Polanco, Kirilloff, Lewis in the lineup on a regular basis will be a nice headache to have!
  14. I agree. These minor league reports are MUCH appreciated! And great to see some impressive strikeout numbers by both Varland and Festa. Keep 'em coming ... both the strikeouts and these detailed reports!
  15. Some funky shadows there in the late innings. Thank you mother nature!
  16. I used to enjoy reading Pat's blog back when he was with the Twins. Any idea if he still posting anything? And is he totally out of baseball at this point?
  17. Good for Eddie. He was injured for a while last year, and I wasn't sure if he would come back and contribute to the Braves anymore at all. But he has hung in there and got himself back in the lineup, and is still coming up in the clutch as you noted. A fun player!
  18. Yes indeed, Beating teams like the Royals and Marlins is encouraging, but if we can't stick it to the likes of the Astros and Yankees we ain't going anywhere this year.
  19. That's the first I noticed that Raya was on the IL also. Any details? Hope it's nothing long-term.
  20. Good pick of Pat Neshek, He'd still look good in our bullpen!
  21. Some great picks there, especially Mudcat Grant. Those 1960s Twins teams were fun!
  22. Tony Oliva was one of the greats! One of my biggest thrills as a young was meeting Oliva at a spring training game in Orlando, back in the late 1960s. My grandfather knew Tony and introduced us. Talk about a thrill! So happy that he finally got in the Hall of Fame.
