  1. Good article, Thanks for that. I've always been intrigued by Jax and his potential, especially now that he's firmly in the bullpen. He seems like a very bright young man who has worked hard to maximize his talent. Hope he can take it to the next level.
  2. Hey, maybe Miami can pick up Gary Sanchez too! Go ahead and give them all of our old castoffs, and why not Miguel Sano too? On the good side of things for Miami, our old pal Arreaz is still batting over .400.
  3. Does this mean that Balozovic is now a starter again? And DeLeon is now a bullpen piece? Not sure what is going on, but if these guys are pitching effective innings, keep shuffling.
  4. I love love love Taylor's bunting prowess. More of that please! I also love Matt's description of the bunt: ...turning the game from a battle between professionals into childish chaos, as fielders dash to a base in order to do something without realizing their actions compromised the play.
  5. I think the decline of western civilization occurred around the time that "party" turned from a noun into a verb. I still get painful cramps as a result.
  6. ... and the aforementioned wild pitch, channeling a little Sam Deduno magic to avoid giving up any significant damage. Man, that was a VERY wild pitch! Jeffers had almost no chance to keep that one from getting away. But your mention of Sam Deduno made me smile! I always thought he could have been a keeper ... if he had more control!
  7. I think the biggest "obstacle" for Nick this year is the lack of playing time in center field, which of course is due to the presence of Taylor. Gordon seemed comfortable in center, but I think a lot less so at second base, where he is getting more of the playing time this year. I'm also a fan of Gordon and I think he will shine will regular playing time at a single position, but it's looking that will be less likely with the current Twins roster, plus players like Farmer, Lewis, and Kiriloff coming back from the IL. As others have said, Gordon is becoming more of the odd man out on the Twins this year. I could see him becoming a fan favorite in Oakland.
  8. Yes, Cano has looked great so far this year. But as someone else posted earlier in the week, he turns 29 this year, so he's not the hot young prospect I had assumed he was at the time of the trade. Nevertheless, I'm sure the Orioles are happy to have him in their bullpen.
  9. Not so sure about dumping Stewart just yet. He looked good in his first game back up, so I'd like to see him stay on the team for a while and see how much he can contribute. And if they DID DFA him, I wouldn't be shocked to see another team claim him.
  10. Amazing early run for Rooker. Sure, plenty of homers, but his OBP is impressive too. His performance is a rare ray of light for Oakland this year.
  11. I love watching Buxton play, but I have to admit that I hate seeing batters doing those bat flips. Hey, call me a Scrooge, but I'm old school and don't see the need for that sort of stuff.
  12. The first takeaway in Melissa's article: The Twins won a series vs. the Yankees! And really, the Twins looked like the better team I think that's a huge observation. In both this series, and in the last one that we split (I think that's correct) the Twins looked more confident and less overwhelmed by the specter of the "mighty Yankees." I really hope this year is a turning point in ridding ourselves of the Yankee curse!
  13. We are getting spoiled this week with our starters going 7 innings in back to back games and the Twins winning each time. Hopefully, this becomes the new norm!
  14. As reclamation projects go, Brock Stewart is an intriguing one. Great story about how he has come back from injury and making it back to the majors several years later. And I love his recent K to BB ratio. Go get 'em Brock!
  15. I'm still puzzled why Woods-Richardson was even called up to begin with. Did we really have that much of a need for a guy to come in and throw 90-plus pitches as a long reliever?
  16. I think we can argue about the so-called "core" players, but as I look at the Twins this year, I think for the first time in many many years, they certainly DO have the players that can take them to another World Series. Bullpen is better, starters are better, and if the hitting finally comes around on a consistent basis, we will be a force to be reckoned with. Or so I keep hoping ...
  17. Thanks for this review. I was on the road all week and didn't have time to check the site as usual. Cossetti is a new name for me, but nice to see that he had a productive week.
  18. And let's hope that Sonny stays healthy and doesn't go on the IL at any point this year!
  19. As others have said, it looks like the Lopez we expected has finally materialized. This may end of being those win-win types of trades for both teams. I think the Orioles will be happy with Povich, and Cano just got his first save of the year for them, and hasn't allowed an earned run yet so far this season.
  20. Yeah, that was sad that the Twins called Maggi up last year ... and he never even got into a single game. Hopefully, the Pirates will use him at least once, but right now that team is playing very well.
  21. Rooker is now up to 6 homers, with 2 more yesterday!
  22. After a couple of rough starts Berrios finally found the magic and was the starting pitcher who finally stopped Tampa Bay's incredible win streak!
  23. Not good to hear. Let's hope this "evaluation" is only a normal one and that he's cleared to pitch again ASAP.
  24. Good point, The Yankees certainly don't seem to have that aura of invincibility that they have had in the past --- especially against the Twins. Taking the first two games of this series was an amazing feeling! Hopefully, it gives the Twins the confidence and knowledge that they CAN take on the Yankees and actually win a series. Just not this week.
