    You make a good point. A veteran like Margot may indeed be a valuable piece when it comes time for the playoffs. Despite his slow start earlier this season, I think we should hang on to him. I'm not that positive that the likes of Wallner or Larnach, despite their better power skills, are the types of players we will need come October. But hey, if one of those guys gets hot down the stretch I'll be eating my words.

    Good article, and I like the fact that you are throwing out some interesting under-the-radar names to consider. Nardi strikes me as the one to aim for, but as bean5302 said, the asking price from Miami may be too high for our liking. If some of our injured arms like Stewart and Topa can start contributing later this month we may not need another arm in the bullpen, but my hunch is that we will need at least one more arm from outside the system as we head into the stretch.

    Interesting idea, and like you said he certainly has rebounded this season, but I don't see this as a big need for the Twins this season. As others have noted, we already have enough bats, from both sides, plus the recent addition of Brooks Lee, so adding another bat should not be a priority. But another bullpen arm might be nice.

    Paulshawn Pasqualotto gave up just one hit over three scoreless innings. He had six strikeouts and no walks. Seems like yet another pitcher in the Zebby mold, limiting those walks. I love it!

    A fun win with plenty of highlights for the Twins. Take your pick; most of these guys are really starting to click lately, both batters and pitchers (expect for Pablo and company getting lit up the day before). But man, looking at those "special" new caps and uniforms is making my eyes hurt. Go back to the real uniforms and pack away those garish new threads!

    The fact that Festa struck out 6 batters and didn't walk anyone is at least encouraging. But yeah, I would think he has a short leash right now as far as staying in the rotation. Just keep those hits away!

    I wouldn't mind adding either one of those arms, just as long as we aren't giving up too much for them. Interesting trade ideas.

    Another good report, Seth! It's good to see Doncon hitting the ball well in Cedar Rapids. And Zebby with no walks ... again! He has become the Willians Astudillo of the mound!

    Maybe Derek Falvey could talk with Tampa Bay about getting Ben Rortvedt back, but that’s more comical than it is logical. Comical indeed! Great to see Rortvedt playing well for Tampa but I don't think he's going anywhere. But back to the subject of this article, and echoing most of the other responses, I'd agree that it would be extremely unlikely for the Twins to trade for any hitters before the deadline. We have enough in the system to carry us.

    I agree, I think we got the right one. And yes, we are lucky to have ended up getting Correa the second time around, almost by default. I good player to have on the team, especially when he is playing as well as he has been lately. I wasn't a big fan of him in Houston, but now I like him a lot!

    That recent Lopez meltdown reminded me (almost) of the time in the 1970s when Pedro Borbon (then with the Reds) went ballistic, took the cap from an opposing player, and promptly took a bite out of it. Ah, they don't make players like that anymore!

    Wasn't Povich the main piece in that trade? I think Cano was more of the throw-in, and yet he ended up having an All-Star season afterwards.

    Very sad that Lewis is likely on the IL again, and who knows for how long, but yeah, this would seem like the opportune time to call up Brooks Lee.

    He certainly has the talent, but obviously it's been a frustrating few years for the fans, and I'm sure for Buxton too. As you noted, even when he's healthy he can be streaky, hot and cold. Seems like he has cut down on the strikeouts this season (but please fact check me on that one), so that at least is encouraging. In any case, it will be a nice to change to have a healthy AND productive Buxton down the stretch.

    I'd noticed that he hadn't played for the Nationals for a few days. Nor has Joey Gallo. Is he injured again, or also about to put out to pasture?

    Great report. I know next to nothing about any of these prospects, so I appreciate all the research and information. One name jumped out at me: Kyle DeBarge, Being a big music fan, I wondered if he was related to El DeBarge or Chico DeBarge, or any other member of that singing family?

    At this point, barring an injury, I don't think they are actively looking for any more starting pitching either. Maybe another good arm in the bullpen, but I think the starting rotation is pretty much set. That said, the health and productivity of Paddock remains a question mark.

    If the Twins are still solidly in contention at the end of this month I can't see them trading Kepler. He's been up and down as usual, but he will have another hot month before the season is finished and hopefully that will come at the right time for the Twins. I think he's a far more reliable option than Wallner, for example. And besides, I can't see us getting anything of real value if we did trade him at this point. Just keep him and hope he's productive down the stretch. But I also agree with others that would be surprised if the Twins gave him a QO after the season is over. Despite the questionable options in RF it may be best for the Twins to cut ties with Kepler at that point.

    Good post. I always liked Larry Hisle. A very underrated player. Any idea what he did after he retired? I don't remember him being a coach with any teams.

    That was a VERY peculiar position change after the HBP. When was the last time a pitcher had to bat in this league?

    I'll join the chorus: No no no no no ... and no again. Trading for players with injury histories is always risky, and the Twins haven't played the odds well in that respect. And this particular bunch profiled doesn't do anything to make me change my mind. A very hard pass on these guys.

    Edouard Julien struck out in three of his four plate appearances. That could be the most discouraging stat of the day!

    Didn't realize that Span had 3 triples in one game! But I do remember that Christian Guzman set the team record for triples in one season. Just had to look it up; he had 20 triples in 2000, tying him with Goose Goslin with Washington ... in 1925!
