  1. For now, the signing is quiet and practical. Bañuelos is unlikely to push his way into a prominent role, but he fills a necessary space on the depth chart. That aptly sums it up. Practical works for me at this point.
  2. Ranking Falvey seasons?! Okay, I was gullible and clicked on the link. Sure, it's a slow week in Twins territory, but c'mon guys, can't we find more interesting things to write about?
  3. Exactly, The one-year contract routine for signing first basemen is getting stale. Will be nice if a youngster like Mendez shows an aptitude for the position. Go for it.
  4. I've always liked Lowe and would be happy to have him with the Twins. But as things stand, the roster fit DOES seem a bit awkward. But hey, I still like the idea. Now about that bullpen ...
  5. Most of my favorite Twins were never stars at all. But good memories of those guys and Rick Renick as well. RIP.
  6. I like Bradley a lot and think he should remain a starting pitcher for now. Festa and Zebby in the bullpen might be a better, and more potent, combination. Still not sure how they should handle Prielipp. If he appears 100% healthy at this point, I'd keep him as starter ... but then again, we certainly do need more impact arms in our bullpen.
  7. Maybe because there aren't many, or any, teams that really want Larnach.
  8. Jorge Lopez is looking for a job yet again?
  9. Logic would say so, but the way this off-season has gone, or not gone, I no longer have any expectations. But something needs to happen with this surplus of MLB-ready starters that we possess.
  10. Well, at this point in the off-season (February is here!), the Twins are going to need to be VERY creative in stocking the bullpen. I expect a few of the fringe starter candidates will end up in the pen, along with one or two of the high-end farm system pitchers, but I still think they need to make an effort to sign a legitimate veteran arm. But right now the pickings are slim. As usual.
  11. No need for any more starting pitchers at this juncture; we actually have too many good candidates for the rotation already. As many others have already stated, the bullpen is, and remains, our biggest weakness. What is the front office planning at this point? Trade or a free agent signing? I mean, something needs to happen,, right? But it's February already and the clock is ticking.
  12. Every working arm is welcome to audition for our bullpen. Welcome back, Matt. But man, we still need some better arms for this bullpen, or it may implode the first month of season.
  13. Pablo Lopez is a classy guy and a darned good pitcher too. Good article. Glad to have him with the Twins for another season.
  14. I agree with taking a stand, but I think forfeiting a game might not be the best way to make a statement or express dissent. Just hoping life in the Twin Cities, and elsewhere, gets back to normal ASAP.
  15. A shocker indeed. Without Falvey around, I suppose the Zoll-bashing will begin.
  16. All I know it that I am getting dizzy from this flurry of exciting transactions!
  17. Thanks for that explanation!
  18. It's pretty sad that we are now in the last week of January and still in need of 3 or 4 more arms for the bullpen. Waiting until the last minute once again.
  19. Well, this is a new one for me. What exactly is this Player Promotion Incentive? Does this mean that the player on the list gets some sort of bonus if he is promoted during the designated time period?
  20. And the great but short-lived Twins career of Glenn Williams was from Australia too. Back in 2005 he had 43 plate appearances with a batting average of .425.
  21. In years past the Twins usually had some players with Spring Training invites that were not already in their system. But this year it appears that EVERY play invited is already in the organization. But hey, maybe that's actually a good thing.
  22. I think Kepler was an international signing too.
