  1. Frankly I'm surprised that Simeon Woods Richardson didn't get a bonus in 2025. He went 7-4 with a 4.04 ERA over 111 1/3 innings and 22 games started. It was worth 2.2 bWAR and 1.2 fWAR, so he had to be close. Louie Varland had to be close as well. In light of the other bonuses being handed out, I'm surprised too. I suppose measuring performance remains an inexact science. Whatever formula they are using, whether it's bWAR or anything else, is beyond my comprehension.
  2. ... career journeyman Kody Clemens, who had some nice moments but wasn’t the kind of player a contending team wants to have in the lineup every day. That succinctly says it. Clemens was a fun story last year, but if we are heading into next season with him as our starting first baseman, then that shows this team is not serious about contending.
  3. All this talk of trading both pitchers is driving me crazy too! Unless there really IS a desperate need to reduce payroll, they should keep both pitchers and try to field a winning team this coming season. That said, I think they SHOULD try and trade Ryan, but only to get an impact bat and/or some better arms for the bullpen. Other than that, I'm still convinced we are in some sort of rebuild mode.
  4. I'd still like to see Prielipp end up as a starter too, but I don't see any harm in him getting some MLB innings this season in the bullpen. He's not a youngster at this point but obviously he hasn't pitched a lot of pro innings due to his injury history. He certainly COULD start the season at AAA, but with our urgent need for bullpen arms, if might be good for him, and the team, to get a chance as soon as possible.
  5. Some interesting choices. Thanks for putting in the effort to write this article and making us aware of these pitchers, none of whom I knew much about except for Hamilton. As DocBauer noted, even with our in-house options, we will still need some extra arms in the bullpen. Sign one, sign 'em all. I doubt any of these guys are going to break whatever budget the Twins have.
  6. One of the most bizarrely depressing stats in recent years. But is the blame for that on Wallner, or the fact that the Twins had very few men on base every time he came to bat?
  7. Sano was playing in that league THIS year and had those stats?! Hmm ....
  8. Torii was an above average player, and beloved by many Twins fans, but I just don't see him as a Hall of Fame player. Plenty of other players, such as Lofton, are more deserving.
  9. I always liked Rortvedt and thought he would turn into a good MLB catcher, Maybe not a full-time starter, but at least a good backup. I wonder why both Tampa Bay and LA let him go so quickly. He's still relatively young, so it would seem like his skills could not have deteriorated that quickly.
  10. You are correct. Last year he slipped, but previous to that, when Lowe was with Tampa Bay and Texas, he was an above average hitter and fielder. The Twins could be a lot worse than signing Lowe. As for the two pitchers mentioned in the article, both seem worthwhile, but I'd opt for Moreta. But as usual, I hope the Twins make some moves SOON and don't wait until February.
  11. I still think the more likely pitcher traded is Joe Ryan. I think we would get more back for him in a trade, plus, I just like having Pablo as the veteran head of the staff. He's the one I would keep.
  12. Shaking things up, seeing some new faces: I like it! Sure, it's only the coaching staff, but we got to start somewhere and this gives me a glimmer of hope for next season already.
  13. Very true! Although, it was encouraging to see Boadas return from his injury and look like he COULD be someone we can use in another year or so. But as Flying Finn also noted, Boadas was really the only bright spot among the pitchers we sent to the AFL this year.
  14. Never heard of any of these pitchers, but at this stage we can't be too picky. Sign the best one or two of the bunch and see what happens. We might set a record for using the most pitchers next season unless we find a really good core group in the bullpen.
  15. I like the article and the idea of finding some good arms without breaking the bank. They all seem to have some upside, and obviously the Twins have good memories of Rogers. Any of them are worth a shot. But I hope the front office doesn't do their usual procrastination dance and wait until the week before spring training to sign some arms.
  16. I had a helluva time trying to log-on two days ago. Ended up signing up under a new name with the DiamondCentric site and that worked, but when I clicked on to the Twins Daily site it didn't recognize either my new used name or old name. Very frustrating. I ended up drinking more than usual as a result! But today, the old name works again! I'm still confused as to what happened, or didn't happen, but all seems normal now
  17. Oh man, I had forgotten all about Scott Ullger. I may have seriously bad dreams tonight. I watched him "manage" the Orlando Twins AA team one season. Not impressed.
  18. Free agents shortstops? Really, after all these shortstops we have drafted in recent years there is some sort of urgent need to sign a free agent? No, and no again. Let Lee and/or Culpepper sink or swim this coming season. We have more pressing needs than shortstop at this point.
  19. Shelton doesn't yet have a specific remedy in mind for his switch-hitting infielder, because he doesn't yet know Lee deeply enough to evaluate his process. Well, let's hope that Shelton, or the next hitting coach, can quickly unlock the potential that Lee has with the bat. The clock is ticking.
  20. Relief pitchers, yes! But it drives me crazy that the Twins usually wait until the onset of Spring Training to sign anyone. Why the procrastination year in and year out? And oh yes, I think we still need a legitimate first baseman.
  21. Japan and the Latin American countries are certainly fertile ground for finding prospects. I hope that the Twins actually and actively explore those territories.
