  1. Let's just hope that he doesn't come down with bilateral leg weakness.
  2. Very early days, but his first outing was encouraging. One inning pitched, gave up a hit, and struck out two batters. More of that, please!
  3. Not sure if anyone posted this yet or not, but Randy Dobnak is in camp with Seattle. The two box scores I read did not offer favorable results for him.
  4. If we start the season with the likes of Outman, Larnach and Wallner in the outfield, it's time to stock up on barf bags.
  5. Almost everyone agrees that we don't need Larnach. The outfield AND the DH spots should go to more deserving players. But I still think that getting another club to trade for Larnach is the real hurdle. We may end up being stuck with him for most of the season.
  6. Yeah, it's still VERY early in the spring, but I'm really hoping that both Abel and Bradley earn those spots in the rotation.
  7. I don't have the inclination to do a deep dive into all these advanced stats, but my baseball memory bank says "YES" to Santana in the Hall of Fame.
  8. I didn't hate the fact that the Twins signed Urshela to a minor league deal and an invite to camp. I still have a place in my heart for experienced vets, and his previous stint with the Twins was good. But he's started, what, 3 games now? And no hits at all. Too early for a verdict, but concerning.
  9. Haven't seen any posts or comments from tony&rodney in a few weeks. I miss his insight. Hope all is well.

As far as know in the article on the Pohlads running out of scapegoats he made the following comment. I believe that was his last comment.

“I have never received as many thumbs down as suggesting fans move on from this latest debacle by the Pohlads (Tom in this case). I should have never commented at all. My comments were meant to move towards baseball talk. I consider Falvey and Tom Pohlad as one and the same as far as putting together a roster. I have been opposed to the Pohlads as owners from before they were approved as owners. Time for me to step away from Twins Daily. Minneapolis is under a military occupation and we are worried about if Tom Pohlad is different than his grandpa. MLB is a mess. The Twins are a mess. But both are doing far better than the U.S. Constitution. Good luck to Twins fans. That's all I got.”

  10. Always sad to hear read obits about players that I grew up watching and/or had their baseball card. Thanks for posting this notice.
  11. Litell has turned into a pretty good innings eater, and he wouldn't be a bad addition, but I'd rather give the younger pitchers on our roster a chance to fill out the rotation at this point.
  12. Even if we are able to do that, it most likely will be a relief pitcher with an injury history. As others have said, I just don't see that Larnach has any real/quality trade value at this point.
  13. Well, the old silver lining aspect is appropriate in this situation. Losing a solid pitcher and great character player like Lopez will hurt the team obviously, but it DOES give some of the other players a shot in the rotation. I don't think guys like Bradley and Abel need to be spending much or any more time in AAA, so this gives them more reassurance they can stay with the big boys and hopefully thrive this season. And yeah, maybe one of them can make Ryan-like strides this season and show signs of being an ace. Don't doubt any of these young pitchers.
  14. I'm still not convinced that our bullpen is filled with much more than ageing vets with injury histories, and a few younger pitchers that haven't completely adapted to relief roles yet. It's still in need of another competent arm or two.
  15. As things stand, this trade is drifting toward an outcome where neither side truly benefits. Yeah, well, these things happen all the time. You trade players, you take your chances, and hope for something positive. And maybe miracles COULD STILL happen and perhaps Outman shows some sort of renewed brilliance in Spring Training the Twins keep him on the roster and ... who knows what will happen at that point. But we still have too many "meh" outfielders on the roster, and I don't think many teams will be banging down our door and requesting the services of guys like Outman or Larnach. At some point we just need to cut our losses.
  16. I'm surprised that both pitchers were obtained so easily. Sort of makes me nervous.
  17. Did the Twins get back Laweryson again? If so, I missed that one.
  18. Good signing. And I would be shocked if he doesn't make the team. Chafin has been consistently solid for several years. I'm happy that the Twins finally got him. The bullpen is finally starting to take shape, but I'm still nervous about some of these vets and how their arms will hold up over the season.
  19. Very informative analysis of Bradley and his pitch mix. Thanks for that information. Lots of details, but that helps me understand his pitching style more. I liked him in Tampa Bay and was thrilled when the Twins acquired him. Sure, he's taken a few lumps in his career thus far, but as pointed out by others, he's also already had a few years of MLB experience, and has had some successful games, plus he's still relatively young. I still see him as a starter this season and hope having done some off-season work will reap benefits. I wouldn't relegate him to the bullpen just yet.
  20. That always seems to be the case. If it's not "Clippard" types, it's "Chaffin" types.
  21. At least they finally took down that dated video clip of Margot that kept playing every darned time. Or did they?
  22. Sadly, that is a very accurate statement. Something's gotta happen soon, or so we keep hoping.
  23. Interesting article, although I'm still perplexed. I thought the "sweeper" was the next big thing. Or maybe it was and now has been cast aside in favor another new pitch. Okay, I realize the batting vs.pitching battle is all about adjustment, deception, and things like that. That's the nature of baseball. But I still can't get my head around some of these newer pitches.
