  1. Trading good players with 3 years of team control for junk is really disappointing, When Brock is right, I think he had the best stuff of anyone in the pen. .
  2. Anyone else have Polanco as one of their favorite players. I really enjoyed his left handed at bats when he would catch fire. He carried the Twins a good many times when he caught fire over the years. Seems like a cool cat too.
  3. I see what Langer is saying though. I remember how the team broke out in the summer of 2023 after the All Star Break. Eduard J and Kiriloff looked like future stars and we also had glimpses of Royce Lewis doing things we had never seen. I guess we are probably at the point where Larnach, Julien, Wallner, Miranda, Lewis, and maybe Brooks Lee will never be above average long term starters. Man, such a bummer. It reminds me of maybe around 2010 when I thought our starting rotation had just reloaded with 4 or 5 really good long term starters in Slowey, Blackburn, Perkins, Baker, and ? It turned out they were not as good as we were all hoping.
  4. I know it's only been over two partial seasons, but can anyone recall a more dominate Twins reliever that Brock Stuart? I recall a game early in 2023 when he came in with the bases loaded extra innings and struck out the side. If his workload can be managed properly, the Twins would have an elite bullpen.
  5. So NIL has really negatively affected University of Minnesota basketball and football. Just getting that out of the way and I feel like it came at a time where maybe just maybe the football team was on one a positive trajectory. With that out of the way, this team is in my DNA just as the Twins are. The predictions are not sky high for this year's team, but I see several ways that they could be in the upper group of eighteen B1G teams. Here is how it happens: Max Brosmar is a smart veteran who can get the ball out quickly. He completed passes to 12 different receivers during the Gophers second game The running game will come around with D Taylor and solid depth plus an offensive line that will hopefully grow into the unit that many expect them to be (top third of the conference) On defense the cornerbacks are very good and there is solid depth at safety. There is also really good talent on the d line, but the linebacker group really is what will make or break this year's defense. They were young last year and missed a ton of tackles. If the front seven can do a decent job stopping the run and generating pressure, this defense will be good enough for this team to win 8 or 9 wins. So get out there and enjoy an outdoor football game on a beautiful fall game.
  6. Cali, Frisco and Minnie all sound like nails on the chalkboard.
  7. People who rant about Pohlads sucking typically are Kfan rubes. Kfan's on air personalities denigrate the Pohlads and Twins because they are salty, they keep failing to secure the broadcast rights. The Pohlads are really good members of the Twin Cities community. They step up for many different nonprofits and arts organizations. They also tend to spend more than teams with similar market share/ticket sales. Yours truly, Pohlad Pocket Protector
  8. The winning starts tomorrow with Pablo leading the way. If this team is going to do anything the rest of the year, some of the young pups needs to step up.
  9. Not so sure about that. At the second playoff game vs Toronto last year, there were some rowdy Canadians around us calling him a separatist and a Quebecois rat.
  10. PF is no joke and I hope it's behind him. The guy is a leader, and I personally feel great about him anchoring the infield. In case anyone forgot this play. It was my favorite play from last year's post season. Great instincts and what a throw to the plate. Correa Throw Home
  11. Anyone else concerned about Correa? It will be interesting if his statement about the foot fasciitis tearing and how the recovery can then be faster.
  12. Souhan seems to be turning into a more positive person. I recall him being pretty negative maybe 5 years ago and thinking he was difficult to read.
  13. I would love to see Kiriloff healthy and breakout but if he cannot why not Larnach? He played a great first base in college and will hopefully breakout this season.
  14. I’m happy the front office addressed the defensive drop off when Byron is out. Without Buck, the outfield defense has gone from elite to ugly over the past 5 years.
  15. Count me in on liking this trade unless Gallo has lost a step. I still think of him as a plus CF defender and with Buxton track record the Twins will finally have a decent back up for him and also insurance for Larnach in left.
  16. Was great to be outside watching Gopher football on a beautiful night. I have a really good feeling about this team with their depth and quality of players on both sides of the ball. There isn't a game on their schedule that they should lose if they play their best football. Having Kirk Ciarrocca back as Offensive Coordinator is a big step forward for the offense which struggled the past two seasons with route design and general play design. Very glad Fleck let two guys he was friends with Mike Sanford (OC) and Robb Smith (DC) go and replaced them with guys that seem to get the most out of their personnel. Anyone else here a Gopher fan?
  17. I would argue that there has been some exciting new faces (player development this year). If Larnach and Kiriloff would have stayed healthy Kepler's dismal performance wouldn't have been on display as much.
  18. I’m going to that big guy. Nothing like hearing him crush a ball. I think it was 2019 at Kauffman stadium where this Royals fan in front of us seemed to really relish throwing shade at Miguel. He came into the game struggling and stuck out on his first at bat but with a good looking cut. Next at bat he tattooed a ball that ended up being a game winning home run I recall. I felt like he could have been one of those rare guys to lift his team to another level but not it never happened. Best of luck!
  19. Not sure if the Royals would have dealt to the twins but at the deadline, management knew the lineup and the outfield needed a boost. A Benintendi or Merrifield pickup would have been big.
  20. Was cutting Gordon and having Lewis play LF for now considered? I like Nick but he is Nick Punto like both offensively and defensively.
  21. Astros going with a soft throwing lefty for five innings won the game in my opinion. I thought he was on the ropes but had the guts to get the mound reshaped, he gathered himself and the Twins could not lay off his breaking stuff. Such a winnable game and such a bummer that the Twins didn't take it.
  22. It was sad to see this one slip away. This team has to find a way to keep taking quality at bats like it did earlier this season and last year. The Brew Crew bugs!
  23. Glad the Winfield JR declared. He had nothing to gain by coming back and his friends and roomates on the team are all graduating this spring anyway. I would think Tyler Johnson will be the first Gopher drafted (round 2 maybe), followed by Winfield, then Coughlin and Martin.
  24. My hope is that Homer can eat innings and be effective enough to help this team make the playoffs again. My other hope is that a trade or an internal candidate brings a playoff caliber starting pitching because I don't like the idea of Homer Bailey being a Twins playoff starter.
