  1. I kind of agree with you when it comes to pitching. This team has been so starved for quality pitching that I wouldn't trade Ervin unless the return is really good. Ervin could continue to be a solid starter for a couple of more years and there isn't a current starter on the team or in the farm system that looks to be a front line starter. There is also something to him being a mentor to the other guys and protecting the bullpen.
  2. Meatsauce was also pissed the Gophers didn't hire Les Miles instead of PJ Fleck.
  3. Will Dozier have his hot one half and cold the other half type of year?
  4. Pretty excited for opening day and my fingers are crossed that the young talent starts to really produce this season. Also, here's my vote for pump the crowd up music this year.
  5. I'm not disagreeing with you, but has Sano ever been any better at 3B than he was in his brief time in the OF? I will say he has made a few nice plays at Third, but he has had a whole bunch of ugly plays at both positions.
  6. Another reason to Trade Dozier and give Polanco a shot at 2b. If Escobar can stay healthy I think the Twins need to keep him until there is a better option from within the system.
  7. I like the idea, but I think we might be over estimating Santana's value. He is getting old, gets paid quite a bit, and he has a black cloud over him from the PED suspension. I think the Twins would have to be willing to eat contract for Ervin as well and I would rather see the Twins keep him and eat contract on Nolasco.
  8. I agree with you and I have enjoyed watching Milone when he has good games. He had quite a few last year and if he is pitching well again, let's get him on track here and then possibly trade him or keep him.
  9. Time will tell with all of these guys but at least with Santana and Rosario we have seen flashes of both offensive and defensive goodness. I really have no clue whether Kepler will pan out but he seems to have the tools. I want to see Buxton succeed, but I am no longer confident that he will be a star. If the Twins are able to get a good return, I think they should consider it.
  10. What kind of return could Buxton generate now? A long term outfield of Rosario, Santana, and Kepler sounds good for 2017. I have more faith in all three of these players being complete players than I do in Buxton, but maybe something is going to click soon.
  11. You forgot Torii Hunter at 120-1
  12. Welcome back to one of the best Skips the Twins have had.
  13. Will Sano stay healthy playing 3B or the OF? His hammy was giving him problems as a DH last year. I'd like to keep Plouffe around for this season at least just to see if Sano can stay healthy and hold his own defensively. Santana's suddenly a guy with an opportunity again after the Hicks trade. I would argue that the trade benefits him most as I think it's likely Buxton will not make the club out of Spring training. If Danny plays well the early season OF could be: Rosario LF Santana CF Sano/Arcia/? RF
  14. Even though this is going to be unpopular with the casual fans, I believe this is the best option for a return to a good baseball team. The Twins just don't have enough talent that is close to being ready at several key positions, and this luke warm rebuild is never going to progress when the best players on the team are guys like Dozier and Plouffe. Trade them when they have value and build young with Rosario, Hicks, Kepler, Buxton, Sano, Polanco, Berrios, May, and hopefully some good return at catcher, SP, and maybe SS from the previously mentioned trades.
  15. The Jays are throwing everything they can at this season, but Colabello would have to clear a lot of teams (via waivers) to make it to the currently playoff bound Twins.
  16. If Ryan is going to do something major I think it's going to involve Plouffe. Given his track record of trading AJ when Mauer was ready to assume the catching role and trading Dougie when Morneau was ready to assume 1b leads me to believe that he would follow a similar pattern. Maybe the timing wouldn't be right though with Plouffe and his wife just having a baby (do GM's consider this type of thing?).
  17. So trading bad contract for slightly less bad contract. The Twins would be relieved of Nolasco and get Shields for 3 years and $33 million. I'm not sure how the Nolasco's insurance policy would factor in, but Shields should still be an above average SP for the next three years.
  18. I'm a Milone believer and if it wasn't for the Nolasco contract I would like to see him replace Ricky. Option 1 and let May continue to progress in Triple A.
  19. I'm not concerned enough yet to think he can work through this and become the guy at SS. Let him play through it like the rest of the lineup.
  20. Can't we go back to the dang 70's when Doc Ellis' PED was LCD?
  21. I wonder if the Orioles would be interested in trading for Span and putting him in left field? He and Jones being buddies and he would be a great top of the order guy for them.
  22. Beckmt, I think that would be classy for the Twins to offer Morneau a 3 year $30 million extension, but I am not sure if it would be worth it. I look at Doumit's offensive production (similar to Morneau's), but Doumit plays a more valuable defenisve position and makes less. I think the conversation will be difficult, but I think a fair extension for Morneau would be more like $6 per year (at his current production rate).
  23. Nice post Cody. This batting title race for Mauer seems a little melodramatic for me, but it would a positive thing for this franchise.
  24. Wow, he really is the cream of the crop. I'd really like to see what Parmalee can do with the big league club before the Twins make any decisions.
  25. I'm holding out hope for Cliff Lee, Edwin Jackson, Scott Diamond, Deduno/Devries/Hendricks/Blackburn competing for 4th and 5th spots.
