  1. Very nice to hear this news. Here's to Sano building on his nice 2019 season and the front office signing Buxton to an extensoin next.
  2. What a fun way to end a fun season! Loved Jake Odorizzi's tweet. Fleck has really been trying to build relationships with the other sports teams in Minnesota.
  3. I don't think Ciarrocca has his sights on being a head coach. He doesn't seem too comfortable in front of the camera, but I think going back home for him was a big thing. His new contract had not kicked in yet so his buyout I believe was only $50k (would have been 250k in next year). I don't care about the perception of this as much as I worry about the loss of offensive creativity. This was the first Gophers offense I can remember in a long time that was near the top of the conference and country in production. He used the RPO very well and with the exception of Wisconsin (Iowa game was bad defensive play calling in the first half and not finishing drives), the offense moved the ball up and down the field. Also one of the offensive assistants, Patterson, was a play caller and Assistant coach before joining the Gophers staff. There is some speculation that Fleck brought him in, 2 years ago, because he was expecting Ciarrocca to leave. Go Gophers!
  4. Very happy that Odorizzi and Pineda are coming back. Pineda was pitching so well during the middle of the season last year. I really enjoyed watching him pour strikes in on the corners. The Twins get a little discount I think by being loyal to him through his mistake.
  5. Everything is still possible for this team except going undefeated. This game hurt a lot because mistakes cost the game. Tyler Johnson had an amazing game and then drops that pass on 4th down where he could have scored a td. Still feeling bummed about this one.
  6. Best non playoff sporting event I have ever attended. What did you think of the atmosphere as a casual fan? To me outdoor sports (Twins baseball and Gopher football) are the games to be at in person. Cannot do indoor football or baseball even with our chilly springs and falls.
  7. It was funny at the end of last season the Gophers were getting some top 25 love, and then as the offseason progressed that diminished and Nebraska became the Big Ten west darling. I think a big part of it with college football is the fact that Nebraska sells 90k tickets for all of their football games and that will support a lot of media interest. Their fans that I interacted with at the game last night were all really nice though. They loved our stadium and city of course (wouldn't you if you visited from Nebraska!). I love how the defense and running game has really come together the past two weeks. And BTW a number 20 ranking in both the AP and Coaches poll.
  8. Totally agree and I think if there is a year, why not this year. They have a softer schedule, loads of talent on offense and some really talented seniors on defense. Plus what's not to like about Tanner Morgan? He is not flashy, but I believe his record now as a starter is 9-2 and they have won 7 straight. He is accurate and smart. Looking forward to a cool/cold Saturday night game under the lights!
  9. I hear the term around baseball playoffs being whichever team gets hot can win it all. Well getting hot means doing the right things to win and I am dissapointed because even though this team did not have great pitching, the defense and hitting really let the team down. Clean up the defense in game one and the questionable pitching changes and that one could have been a W. This to me was the biggest stat: RISP Game 1: 1 for 9 Game 2: 1 for 7 Game 3 : 1 for 12 Not sure if it was being in love with home runs or just well executed pitches by the Yankees but the Twins failed to deliver with productive at bats when it mattered. Anyway I loved the season and the community here. Will be following the offseason closely and Go Gophers!
  10. yes, I agree they created a product that we cannot do without and I can see why you do not want to give them more $. Still for some reason I would rather pay less for their better product vs paying comcast.
  11. I agree, but I think cutting the cord and streaming makes sense (both financially and for quality of service) and do I really care that Google knows that I watch mostly sports along with knowing what I email and search?
  12. Brock who in this large media business isn't taking liberties with your data?
  13. Yes, he has been the hottest of the established pitchers and it is not fair to give Dobnak the ball in game one. Game one Odorizzi Two Dobnak Three Berrios to clinch
  14. I would like to see an extension. What would it take? A five year $50 million seems like something he would considerl
  15. Great win and good to see Berrios have a nice outing and hit 200 innings. I'm starting to wonder if Rosario needs soome Dobnak style glasses though. He is not tracking the ball well. I hope that is not a problem in the playoffs. The agressiveness from the batters this season and the fact that it has not resulted in a high strike out team is the secret sauce. I know the Yankees have a similar ball club and that is why this series will be so fun. Whichever team catches fire.
  16. This is a tough call and I heard Rocco talking about it on the radio before the game. You want to reward a long time Twin and a good guy, but it's time to put together the best team possible. I say no
  17. Yes to the post season roster. Between him, DuffMan, Romo, Rogers, and May the Twins could have a really tough BP. Which is good, because the first five or six innings are pretty scary. Also yes to treating 2020 as an opportunity to limit innings but stretch him a bit in the bull pen. The Twins are bound to have a bad start in 2020 at least every fifth go around (unless Dobnak, Smeltzer, and Thorpe are really good), and he could be a guy that could go three innings every 4 days.
  18. I don't think any team does, but the Twins lineup can outscore some other pitchers. Please give Thorpe and Smeltzer a shot at replacing Gibson and Perez.
  19. Great summary of the week that was. What are Larnach and Kirilloff up to now that their Blue Wahoo seasons are over?
  20. I remember a mid summer game i think in 2017 when he was struggling and there was talk about him being done, and against Baltimore he was struggling, but the offense scored a bunch in the middle innings and he just kind of figured it out. He started striking out hitters both in that game and then for the next 1.5 years on a good slider and a high four seamer. It was a great stretch for him and like others have said he is an easy guy to root for. I do not think that means he shoudl be on the post season roster this year though.
  21. Eddie is starting to get hot. I think as a manager you need to know how to motivate and discipline your players. Eddie's game is to showboat and have fun. I think it's great having a guy with his attitude on the team as it breeds a certain cotagious confidence (not afraid of the moment). So no, I do not think you bench him. You do not want him pouting with the playoffs only two weeks away. Talk with him about it and move on. The OF is thin and the Twins need him playing well to have a chance. BTW, did you notice he is no longer limping when he's running. To me being at the game last night I was big picture happy about the speed he once he finally kicked it in gear.
  22. This is a Les Straker type of situation and I say Smeltzer game three and Dobnak game 4. Unless Perez has two more solid outings. Let's go with the young fellows.
  23. That stinking last game in Miami really was a turd for this team. I am hoping for an agressive move. I would like to see a potential offensive difference maker called up to see if he can be like a 20 year Miguel Cabrera with the Marlins.
  24. I don't know the chances of Buxton and Kepler being back for the post season, but from the outside side it feels like there is very little chance with Buxton and maybe a 60% chance with Kepler. I think it would be foolish for the Twins not to give Kirillof a try to be the RF for the stretch run and if he succeeds to add him to the post season roster. If Kepler gets healthy an OF of Kirilloff, Kepler, and Rosario on paper sounds much better than gimpy Cave, Kepler, and Rosario. If Kepler doesn't get healthy then we are talking an OF of Wade/Gonzalez, Cave, and Rosario (with two of those three returning from injury).
