Sounds a awful lot like the Twins. -
Keep Garlick in RF. Make them earn playing time! The Twins really don’t have a DH do they?

Besides Kepler having IMO another bad year. He is non-existent to the fans. He doesn't seem to do interviews where he admits he is disappointed in his play. He could be a clubhouse leader but it doesn't seem like it. Hard to say what they should do. I would say bench him for the rest of the year and let some of the kids in the minors get a chance. Can he be dropped from the 40 man? How was Tim Beckham a #1 draft pick? How terribly sad! I saw a line-up this week with him DH'ing and batting 8th. To me that was a sign we are at the bottom of barrel. Is there anyone in AAA that should get a chance in place of Kepler or Beckham?

It's Time to Shut Down Byron Buxton
MABB1959 replied to Cody Pirkl's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Not saying he doesn't try or is not working hard. If there is nothing that can be done we are in trouble. Just saying that something is not working. Comparing gymnastics to baseball is a little far-fetched but if you know anything about gymnastics it is not easy on the body especially at the high levels. Most have abs of steel! My granddaughter is at a high level and the things she does is incredibly hard on the knees, wrists, hips, ankles and especially the back and having a strong core helps to prevent injuries that would put them on the IL so to say. Her gym has a great conditioning program and unless they break a bone or get a concussion there are not many that need to take time off. Overall the Twins have a great deal of injuries so is it the training staff?- 68 replies

It's Time to Shut Down Byron Buxton
MABB1959 replied to Cody Pirkl's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
They need to come up with a good conditioning plan for him. Surgeries are one thing but conditioning is huge when trying to prevent injuries. I know totally different sport but but gymnastics is a sport where all parts of the body can take a good pounding everyday. They practice 20 hours a week but at least 5 hours of that is pure conditioning. Good core strength is the key.- 68 replies

Stats and numbers seem to make this one of the weakest lineups to date. Buxton leaving is more than disappointing, especially with Houston coming up.

Can Simeon Woods Richardson Be Better Than Jose Berrios?
MABB1959 replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Minor League Talk
SWR is not here and has proved nothing. It has been over a year and we have nothing to show for the Berrios trade! Berrios has had some clunkers and gems. He does give his team a good 7 innings for the most part. He has given the Blue Jays 128 innings. Twins closest player is Joe Ryan at 107 and Dylan Bundy at 103. The rest are all under 100. The Blue Jays believe in him and he has acknowledged his clunkers each time and works really hard to improve. -
Week in Review: Running into a Wall
MABB1959 replied to Nick Nelson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
It is a combination of failures. I know all teams have injuries but the medical staff of the Twins has to be at the bottom. How on earth did they think Mahle was healthy? Far too many.- 15 replies

Week in Review: Running into a Wall
MABB1959 replied to Nick Nelson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
When do heads start to roll? I don’t think we have really won or come out on top with trades made? It doesn’t seem like player development is even good. The few players that have made it as MLB quality are few and far between. Keeping players healthy has been horrible. Questionable day to day lineup’s and pitching management not even average. Kepler should be DFA’d or at the very least benched instead he often hits in prime spots. Not even sure how to categorize the lack of getting the team to even appear that they want to win. A few really put their hearts in the game. We are now 2-3 years past being the competitive team we were supposed to have. It doesn’t seem like they are rebuilding. Basically if most of us were this incompetent we would have been fired a long time ago.- 15 replies

Greedy MLB, owners, satellite companies and to some extent players. They have made it so you cannot get to really know your hometown team. Many can't afford to attend a game and if you can why spend it on a team you barely know! I think maybe 5 games have been televised this year on "free" TV. Owners: There are some teams that invest and I would not put them on the greedy list. I would put the Twins on the greedy list. This has to affect ticket sales that trickles down to less revenue on food and apparel, parking, downtown business revenue, etc. MLB: They can now charge us for apps so we can hear a game while we watch the fake players on Gameday. But again this has to affect their overall revenue. It is not much but I will not renew it again next year. Especially if they can't come to an agreement with Bally's. Even the few "free" games are blacked out, Satellite Companies: When Bally's first dropped, their reasoning was to save us money. Well Bally's left and we did not see a reduction in price. So DiSH isn't paying Bally's and pocketing that money. Players: IMO their salaries are ridiculous. $700,000 a year to play a game with 5-6 month's off each year. 10 of the top paid players are pitchers and IF they stay healthy they will pitch may 35 games and throw about 3,000 pitches per year. Twins pitcher's far less. Max Scherzer, who will make more than $43 million. Mike Trout is second, at more than $37 million Anthony Rendon, third at more than $36.5 million The New York Yankees' Gerrit Cole and the Mets' Jacob deGrom round out the five highest paid players for 2022. They each will make $36 million. Our own Correa at $35.1 Pitchers who average 33-35 games a year: Of the 28 highest paid players in baseball this season, 10 are pitchers, who also make up five of the 10 highest paid players in baseball. For a game deemed to be America's past time it is overall ridiculous!

Do Any of the Top Free Agents Fit in Minnesota?
MABB1959 replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I don't think anyone would pick him up if we just let him go. Did Duffey get picked up yet? Right field? Isn't that usually for good hitters and okay defense?- 47 replies

Week in Review: West Slide Story
MABB1959 replied to Nick Nelson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
He always manages to stay out of the dog house and rarely mentioned in negative posts. Seems to me he is another player that should be paid out and let go. There must be prospects that could hit as well or better and meanwhile get MLB experience. Even though all is not lost yet, Kepler isn't adding to the "race".- 17 replies

Twins 3, Angels 5: Angels Comeback, Win on Walk-off
MABB1959 replied to Sherry Cerny's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I know it isn’t just him and it was not easy to even think that for sure. Didn’t think about the no trade clause. I love watching him in CF and his base running. His injury proneness is really holding him back in the things I loved to see. Enjoying his home runs for sure.- 70 replies

Twins 3, Angels 5: Angels Comeback, Win on Walk-off
MABB1959 replied to Sherry Cerny's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Yikes...never thought I would say this but it may be time to trade Buxton. He was signed and being paid to be a more than DH and very part-time outfielder. He needs more "rest" days than this team can afford His value is a combination of all his skills. With his salary gone, they could get close to a #1 starter. I love him and wish it would have worked out better. Perhaps a team with a better training staff or tougher coach can get him back to what he should be.- 70 replies

Slovenly Oaf Thinks Buxton Should Play Through Pain
MABB1959 replied to RandBalls Stu's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
All sports are different. In professional sports in general IMO players and owners are looking more at $$$$ and extending careers more than anything else. I think in the MLB in general is more focused on limiting playing time of players than conditioning that will lead to fewer injuries. It is crazy but the number of injuries and games sat out seems to be getting higher every year. -

Dodgers 10, Twins 3: Joe Ryan Bullied by L.A's. Bats
MABB1959 replied to Matt Braun's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Not a surprising loss. A tad embarrassing but totally expected when playing team with almost a .700 win PCT. Even though the outcome probably wouldn't have changed, Buxton needs to be in center field when playing the great teams as well as any game against Cleveland and CWS. Same goes with Correa! Resting them only against teams where the Twins have little chance to win (NYY for example). But it makes no sense to rest them at all, if we don't win the ALC they will have plenty of rest time. This is not a game we will look back on as a reason not to make the play-offs even though Cleveland is now tied with the Twins in the ALC and likely to take the lead after today. What they need to look at is the 20 games lost to their division rivals. What went wrong and what to change going forward. Especially with the 8 remaining games with Cleveland and 6 against Chicago. They especially don't want to give up any games against Detroit (3) and KC (6).- 48 replies

Where Did the Good Carlos Correa Go?
MABB1959 replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I would rather have Correa than anyone else. -
Fans want to have a solid, somewhat consistent line-up. Seeing Buxton bat a few times is not good enough. He needs to be in the field making spectacular plays that the average fans love. We paid over $300 for 3 lower level tickets where Buxton did not play and Correa was out injured. It was horrible before the rainout the Twins didn't even have a hit. That makes for boring baseball and makes fans less likely to shell out that much money for a baseball game. If they could sign and willing to pay for highly sought after players they would sell more tickets. They got Correa but for what 1 year? Not good enough. It has been the same forever and doesn't appear to ever change.

My theory is the good players do not want to play here. How hard they tried to keep Berrios is unknown but I don't think it was about money. He wanted to try out free-agency so they panicked and got 2 prospects that don't appear to be that good, do they know how to evaluate prospects? It has been a while since any of our first round prospect amounted to much. What player in the prime of their career would want to go to a team that historically won't go for the big names to get to a WS? The team cannot win in the play-offs. We are mostly known as a team that is always in the "get by" mode and not the Win Now mode.

I am going to GUESS that Berrios did not want to spend his prime years here which could also have been a barrier the Twins could not overcome. Players/AllStars at the top if their game most likely don't want to waste their time on a team that will not go all out. Thinking Sano is hoping to get DFA'd so he can get out too.
