  1. What kind of team trades away their best player and Batting Champ?
  2. The "veteran" Twins are Buxton, Gray, Gallo, Vasquez, Kepler, Polanco and Maeda. Not sure who of these 7 would be traded. From the comments seems Gray, Kepler, Polanco are Maeda are mentioned.
  3. That was the WORST, now we will spend many years trying to find a pitcher like him and not going to happen. Some will say he had a bad year and that is a little true, but he played many innings last year to help keep their BP fresh and the Twins need that big time. I think he will bounce back because his work ethic and determination will get him there. With him I don't think it was all about money he wants to be on a winning team. His dream is probably to start game 7 of a WS more than money. I bet he ran out the door as fast as he could with many remaining Twins wishing it was them. It is absolutely HORRIBLE! First issue is they have a hard time getting anyone here healthy and if they do they trade them usually for more prospects and the vicious circle starts all over.
  4. Just finished reading about the new pitcher Toronto signed. The salary seemed reasonable, but this is troubling. “That’s one of the biggest reasons I came,” Bassitt said. “I want to be a part of a group for an extended period of time where we can really get to know each other, help each other be the best we can, then hopefully do something very special in the end. Learning each other, what makes each other tick and truly pushing each other to be the best version of ourselves off and on the field is a big thing for me.” Chris Bassitt's repertoire appeals to Blue Jays (mlb.com) Troubling because he was not on the Twins radar nor does it seem like Minnesota in not a team players want to go to.
  5. THEY CAN AFFORD IT! Big free agents want to go to contending teams with a WS possibility. Kind of like the chicken and egg. If they don't acquire good players, they will never win and they keep claiming "small-mid" market and I don't believe that at all. They may need to go WAY over on their payroll even if they lose money to get this team going. They have pocketed a ton of money every year. Maybe not the Mauer, Puckett, Hunter, Morneau years but they were fun. If the team isn't at least fun to watch with a stable line-up no one is going to want to go to a game. Add all of this to many not being able to watch on TV makes it even worse.
  6. I don't think any big name free agents would come here and wonder how many have no trade clauses to the Twins
  7. Many things to be irate about. Not going after top FA’s while waiting on Correa. So what if we got a couple big names and Correa. They could go over their expected budget for a few years without bankrupting the franchise. They would for sure sell more tickets, jersey’s etc. Doing this could eventually attract better player’s. I think it is safe to assume most player’s in the prime of their career don’t want to sign with a team that can’t make a run for a World Series. Making it possible for fans to watch on TV. We need to be able to get to know our team to love them. Many if not most average fans cannot afford to go to one game maybe 2 or 3, but a family of 4 shelling out $300 is not possible for some families and is sad that parents and kids can’t make many great memories. Bad bad bad trades. We have been through quite a few seasons waiting for top prospects. They either never get here, are injury prone by the time they get here and once they do we don’t do much to keep them.
  8. A big name even if past his prime may be exciting to some. Those who follow closely will not be excited and unhappy
  9. They have been rebuilding since the Mauer, Morneau, Hunter years. We get a glimpse of hope at times, Cruz, Correa, Buxton, Berrios but they a shortlived.
  10. I was so disappointed when they let Cruz go. Not sure if he even wanted to stay. I bet it is the dream of every decent Twins player to get traded. Probably the equivalent of being promoted from AA to the MLB. I get frustrated when I see “trade Arraez for….” posts. He is a batting champion!!!!! ..
  11. Same old thing every year, fans start out with expectations (not high) but expectations. We watch players go off the table and then have to wait for the scraps. I 100% knew Correa would not stay as I am sure the front office did so they could say or at least put on the appearance of trying.
  12. Looked at Spotrac.com. Twins are 21st in salary but just as bad is they only have 5 veteran players. Of those only 3 position/every day players. Buxton is one and really can’t be counted on to be in the FIELD everyday. Kepler who doesn’t seem like a leader. Last vet is Polanco probably the best bet for some veteran leadership. One thing that is huge to me is lack of a power hitting DH.
  13. I don't think there are any MLB upper-level players that would consider coming here. When they are at that status playing for a contender is important and that is nowhere on the horizon for the Twins.
  14. My biggest frustration is they did not go out for other top players while waiting on Correa. They should have taken a chance on getting a big name + Correa. Biggest problem is I do not think ANYONE wants to play for the Twins. There is the money but just as important is a long playoff run and more exciting if it ended up in a WS win. I hope I am wrong but with the team now if everyone gets healthy still won't get us far. It is hard to stop being a fan for sure but kind of wish I could
  15. The problem with the young solid core is that once they have value, we traded them away for more prosects. Been that way for as long as I can remember. Buxton is the only value player that came from the Twins system that is of great value and still here. Seems like Polanco is halfway out the door as well. Missing E Escobar, E Rosario, Hicks, imagine if we kept Ramos,
  16. I don’t like trading with the Yankees, they know what they are doing. The Twins not so much. Hicks for Murphy.
  17. Sadly, they aren't even good at developing 1st round picks.
  18. Woo hoo! Another boring trade. I feel like we are on the outside looking in and when Correa goes elsewhere they will say we tried.
  19. 1,000,000% agree. Went to a game vs Houston, spent about $300 so excited to see Correa even bought my grandson a Correa jersey and HE DID NOT PLAY! Absolutely no consistent line-up for the last few years. That and no Bally’s on DishTv makes it hard to get to know and love your team.
  20. I spent about $300 to attend one game. I bought a Correa jersey for my grandson. I do not have the ability to watch on TV. If there were a streaming package to purchase, I would do that. They need to invest get the things you mention. We need to have a stable line and stop trading the good players. Imagine what it would be like if they were able to send out Cruz, Donaldson, Correa and Buxton every game and look forward to the day Berrio's pitches. I remember the days when we got to know and love the team by seeing the same players for most of the season. Watching them now is very much like watching the visiting team.
  21. Being competitive in the ALC doesn't get them very far into the playoffs. They are always one and done and that is what I consider complete failure.
  22. Even if the rankings were higher the training staff and coaching never seems to develop. I think they leave them in the minors too long and if we do get a player they are likely to be traded away.
  23. If I remember right people were in an uproar. It is now worse because of Bally's. No reason they can't strike a deal with a local station to give all Minnesotan's the ability to watch the Twins. I think it is important that the fans can get to know their team.
  24. I hate that we are always looking at the "left-overs" or hope and pray (old or injury prone) types of players.
