  1. Who cares about cost? They have the money and if they go far in the playoffs it will pay off this and next year. We have to stop going cheap and play with the big-boys!
  2. Twins seem to be in lower BP salaries. They need to pay to play. I think this year is a perfect year to spend $$ on high quality BP pitchers. For goodness sakes we don't really even have a closer>
  3. "First it needs to be a contender. Second, needs to be a contender who has a need at SS. Third they need to be a contender with a need at SS who has quality prospects to trade." Enough of the quality prospects. Thought the ones we got for Berrios were quality. Aaron Hicks, huge bust. Even the ones we draft never seem to make it. Two things to consider. 1. Are the Twins going to get prospects up to a major league level? 2. Seems the ones we draft never make it. Lot's of injuries? Spending too much time in the minors? I just want a team or at least players to root for. Arraez, Polanco, Correa and Buxton are they only ones that seems to be high end major league quality. The rest you just hold your breath that they get better or stay healthy
  4. Make him an offer he can't resist! We will never get there if we don't start keeping some of our higher performers. Buxton can't do it alone. I don't care if "this is not our year". We keep doing start overs like letting one of the best pitchers go for 2 prospects that don't look all that promising. Yes Berrios is struggling but I have no doubt nor does his team that he will figure it out. Heck having a starter that typically goes 7 innings and is never injured would be great.
  5. I love his work ethic, is never injured and consistently pitches 7 innings. He is amazing for the most part. Glad his team believes in him. Toronto's W/L record is very good when he starts.
  6. Sounds good. Just need to acquire at least one more very good starter no matter what the cost. As well as keeping Correa no matter the cost. I don't even know how to attempt to get a better bullpen.
  7. But they still had the lead and he should have been given the opportunity to get out of the mess. Pulling your "#1" to go to the Twins BP is a fatal error in a game they could have easily won!
  8. So why does his name coming up so often in trade situations? How long do we have before we lose him because his big pay day is coming up?
  9. I guess the new fangled baseball isn't for old time fans who loved to see the same players everyday and also not really a fan of how soft they are becoming Soft so they can extend their careers or so the owners get their money's worth. Give me Mickey Mantel and Roger Maris any day!
  10. They need to let the starters go longer and learn how to work themselves out of a jam.
  11. This made me laugh "shown an inclination to spend" They may show it but rarely do it. Their inclination is to go dumpster diving and hope and pray.
  12. They have the $$$ to get a player w/o trading anyone. They also should have the $$$ to make Correa an offer he can't resist even if they overpay for now. Sick and tired of them getting rid of players I enjoy watching.
  13. Stop with the trading and focus on keeping Correa and "buy" a #1-2 starter. With the money they saved by throwing away Berrios they can afford both and more. I don't have much excitement about Martin and Richardson. Both doing just okay if that in AA. Part of it is the wait and the other part is we are always waiting on prospects. Few have lived up to their ranking and usually shipped off before they are due to be paid. We have been waiting on prospects since 2010, Buxton is the only one that paid off. I still have a little faith in Sano but would like to see him go to a team that could help him and value him.
  14. Isn't half of Buxton's value playing Center Field? It just gets so confusing.
  15. How about give Kirloff the position he will spend his career? What the heck are they waiting for? We do this time and time again. Keep our top draft pics in the minors for as long as possible. Will they ever see a healthy Royce Lewis seems like that isn't going to happen. I follow most games and frankly have no idea where we see this team going. Buxton: New DH or Center Fielder? Who is our DH, why didn't they replace Nelson Cruz with a good strong DH? Correa: SS for this year and then who? What is Kirloff's planned long term position? Who else is here to stay Kepler, Polanco? Miranda is a 2nd baseman so why is he at first. Shouldn't we start to see some stability soon? Let's be done with the "journey men" and get our real team on the field and in their real position!
  16. Thanks for sharing very good info. When I see journey man it is frustrating that the Twins so down that path so oftn.
  17. Manipulating service time comes to mind. Twins hate paying the good ones and have no problem holding them back to make their already fat wallet even fatter.
  18. What about Berrios? He got off to a slow start but a much better pitcher than anyone we have. Throw out all the stats but he consistently pitches 7+ innings, is never on the IL, the team is 9-3 when he starts. The Twins had the money to spend even with Correa and Buxton. At least he is with a team that has a chance for the WS or at least a good play-off run. He is with a team that will spend the money and don't whine about it when he has a bad day. He is on a team where he is appreciated by the FO, manager and fans. So I am very happy for him and disgusted with the Twins letting the type of pitcher we are always longing for.
  19. Too bad they didn't keep a pitcher that is consistently healthy and typically gives 7 innings. They certainly have the $$$$ to keep him and still sign Correa and Buxton, Stats are interesting but don't paint the whole picture. He was the pitcher we have been waiting for since J Santana! This is the reason many good players do not want to come here knowing the ownership never intends on putting out a great team and are happy to sign players that may or may not have one last good year or trade away a blue chip player for prospects.
  20. Prince night was huge and the Yankees attract a larger crowd (many of those Yankee fans). Who doesn't want to see a bunch of All-Stars play at once. We are lucky to see ours play a whole week straight.
  21. Somehow the MN Twins/MLB/Pohlad's need to figure out how to get the games televised. Yesterday's game was televised and I feel like I got to know and love Archer like I do Berrios. I understand stats and strategy, but I am more of a fan who likes to get to know the players and cheer for the team! That was really fun to watch.
