  1. Did you see his game against the Twins. Savants and stats are one thing. He is a very good starter that gives his team at least 7 innings. Have you read what his team thinks of him. Did you see this game " José Berríos’ fantastic outing in Saturday’s 12-3 win over the Twins, the gang’s now all here." "“We’ll have a chance to win every day,” Montoyo said. “You know what one thing is about Berríos? We’re actually 8-3 when he starts. Of course, he hasn’t been the most consistent, but today it was awesome to see him come back from that start in Anaheim and pitch like that. It’s huge and it’s good to see.”"
  2. Good thing we don't have Berrios right? Wrong! We need him and need him bad. He is good for 7+ innings and would keep us from using the BP. Frankly I know nothing much about the rest of the starters. Hard to make any judgements when you can't watch them on TV (Not switching from DishTV for this team). I think tonight is finally I game I can watch.
  3. Maybe he has too many days off and never gets in the groove. More importantly can he be fixed?
  4. We had our pitcher in Berrios and let him go. Yes his ERA is high but he is 4-2 and typically pitches 6-7 innings. We are always on the wish, hope and pray train and we we finally get a hope and pray we let him go and start this same conversation over. Over and over and over. Berrios is a great pitcher and the Blue Jay's management believes in him. "That Berríos is the man worthy of the seven-year, $131 million extension signed this past offseason." "If Berríos can use this outing to spring forward, the Blue Jays’ rotation will have a top three that ranks among the best in baseball."
  5. I agree he is a good pitcher consistently in the line up and has one of the highest inning pitched. A record of 3-2 isn't horrible. He is in the AL East and just faced the Dodgers. Way too early to decide this year is going to be bad for him. I wish we had him, always will. He is what we wait for in a prospect. If you like to follow prospects this is the perfect team to do so.
  6. Is it possible they are sitting Buxton so he won't hit the number of games or at bats to get to his incentives? I don't remember specifics, just that he needs a certain number of games or at bats to hit his max. They are not playing him to his potential (seriously DH'ing him when he is the star center fielder). Seems he is off at least every 3rd game? He can't get on a roll or hot streak like this IMO. All and all it is ridiculous. I won't buy tickets again because part of the fun of the game is to see him on the bases or making the great plays in center field. Just getting old that's all.
  7. I hate that I cannot watch the games! IMO: Buxton should not sit home games. The crowd needs players to cheer for and get excited about.
  8. The number of "injuries" have been growing for all teams. I don't think it takes much. They are more concerned about prolonging their careers than playing for now. With the huge contracts you have no choice. It is sad that it got to this point. Starting serious play at such young ages has changed too. I swear you have to declare your sport by the time you are 5 years old now. Then it goes all year long. Baseball was a summer game for kids it is much more than that and if you don't keep playing all year long you will most likely fall behind. This happens with all sports now.
  9. Last year was supposed to be "the year" we have all been waiting for until it wasn't. It felt like we were going back to re-building and in a month it could be back to that. Losing a key pitcher like Berrios and at the time wondering how long we would have Buxton made it even worse. Probably the most depressing/disastrous season in Twins history. I think we are not ready to get excited yet and if it happens he make get more positive comments and even manager of the year considerations. We as MN sports fans are always waiting for the rug to be pulled out from under us. I will only call 2022's Baldelli as a successful manager if he get's us past the 1st round of the play-offs. Again it is way too early to get excited or frustrated.
  10. I purchased tickets to yesterday's game for my daughter and her family (close to $300) for 4 tickets. Main reason was Correa would be playing against Houston. I bought a Correa jersey for my 10 year old grandson when he first signed so thought it would be a fun game to attend. Star Wars night was a plus and the fact that the ownership seems to be investing in the team weighed into my decision. Well it didn't turn out to be a good night first because Correa didn't play, and then the weather (spent a lot of time in the underground shelter). They can't go to today's game so hoping getting replacement tickets to another game will be a possibility. That is a lot of money to pay for a family of 4 to attend less than 1/2 of a baseball game.
  11. It's been 6 games and except for a few the team as a whole is nothing to brag about. Against LA the twins had 6 total hits. If you are going to bench him or trade him send Kepler with him.
  12. I would add the inability to watch on TV has hurt. How do you get to know a team when you can't catch a game on TV. Second is inconsistent line-ups. I would be nice to have mostly the same players play each game. Get over the stats and who bats better against which pitchers.
  13. Finally someone moving Kepler down. Not sure what is wrong but his ST is not off to a good start.
  14. When will our front office(s) learn that the Yankees always trade up and give us garbage! Hicks/JR Murphy sound familiar?
  15. Not sure why we traded away Suzuki in 2014. He has a some decent years. Seems better than what we have had.
  16. The Yankees always know what they are doing. Oh my!
  17. Seems like a great trade. Just don't want to see an article in 2022 about Gray being out for the season
  18. So SS choice: Sign a highly paid player? Go with Royce Lewis/Gordon and see what you have? Outfield: Play Celestino and move Kepler to 4th outfielder to see what he has? This year seems to be the year for all 4 of these players to compete to win the full-time job for 2023.
  19. Just how long do you wait. Just saying give him this year and if he is not MLB ready will he ever be?
  20. Can Celestino play right field? Seems Kepler is the weakness if Buxton stays healthy?
  21. I didn't read the comments yet. What's the deal with Royce Lewis? Was it a total fail as a first round first pick? He was drafted in 2017. If he was that great why isn't he here or coming in 2022. I would bring him up give him 2022 and stop the if's/guessing. I would not spend that much on a 2022 SS. Let Lewis come up and thrive or fail. We are letting Kepler stay could Lewis be worse?
